  • The X70 HD is our biggest and burliest pack, created to accommodate our DV Core Units (Large v2, Extra Large v2 and new XXL). The Action X70 HD accommodates larger Cine, Digital Video and super telephoto camera kits. It is the ideal choice for cinematographers, long lens wildlife shooters and campers.
    It's built for big loads and its new Heavy Duty (HD) build was developed to withstand the rigors of active action sport videographers and movements they endure accessing remote locations. The HD model features reinforced critical stress points, thick nylon webbing, and aluminum hardware for greater durability and stability. Its belt has been redesigned to offer greater stiffness, support and pack stability. Two belt pockets and new adjustable sizing round out the HD belt features.
    The X70 HD has adjustable torso height shoulder straps featuring two zippered pockets to carry the latest iPhone Pro Max phones, a water bottle or personal accessories. They are constructed with high density EVA to ensure a comfortable carry over long days. A padded sleeve protects laptops and tablets up to 16 inches, two large tripod pockets can also handle 2-liter water bottles, and its expandable volume lets you pack according to the day ahead. A removable belt, luggage-handle pass-through and hidden AirTag sleeve make the Action X70 HD a perfect adventure travel partner for big pursuits.

    Wow, this bag is like a love letter to me. The first version was already my favorite bag. The new revision handles all my tiny unimportant complaints. Thank you Ian.

    I think this is an almost perfect backpack. I love the idea of those shoulder strap quick-access pockets, especially designed for keeping your smartphone. If I could suggest small improvements: a hidden but easily accessible passport pocket, dividers inside the phone shoulder strap pocket (to securely keep your driver's license or payment card), and under the backpack, a separate zipped pocket for a pair of dirty or wet clothes, shoes, etc. Additionally, straps that allow you to attach a small sleeping bag would be great. My favorite, the Fernweh by Wandrd, has an awesome solution for safely keeping your sleeping bag. Also, ensure that the shoulder strap phone case is fully waterproof and as safe as possible since a smartphone is a life-saving device. One thing I've missed in any backpack, except Boundary Supply, is a removable laptop sleeve. Sometimes you want to leave your backpack in the hotel, take a laptop with you, and pretend to work in your favorite local coffee shop 😅. By the way, is it possible to put a water bladder inside? Sorry if it's too much, but I've personally tested many backpacks, and yours is as close to perfection as possible. And it also looks cool. Hopefully will able soon to put my hand on it 😊

    I'm proud to be Action X70 V1 user, great backpack for my all around adventure in the city or in the field. For me, these small improvement are the best things about Japanese company in general and what I like about Shimoda !

    I have the V1 x70, I was hoping, that the waist belt would be improved. This is the bags biggest flaw: You loose a lot of stability by a removable waist belt and the bag considerably weighs down and doesnt stay in place like other alpine backpacks, this one always hangs uncomfortably on my butt.

    • @ShimodaDesigns
      @ShimodaDesigns  Před 3 měsíci

      Hi the waist belt has been improved significantly. Regards.

    Any idea what the max weight capacity is? I have the explore v35 and was concerned about the weight limits of the adjustable shoulder straps. Also the hip belt would transfer the weight through the zipper of the panel door which seems risky with larger loads over time. Trying to decide whether to get this or a more traditional backpacking pack.

    • @ShimodaDesigns
      @ShimodaDesigns  Před rokem +1

      The actual structure of the pack can handle upwards of 90kgs through drop tests, but I would never suggest carrying that. A lot of it will depend on your own physical tolerance and plans with the pack. We could says 25kg - but that would feel different for everyone. I remember working with Brain Farm one time and they packed a bag with about 45kg of batteries, the bag held it but the person did not last long ... The pack has a lot of structure through the frame, core unit, strap design and belt. With that said every user and load is different. What has worked for our key developers with this pack may not work for you. 2 of those fellows are snowboard cinematographers who put the previous packs through the most damage that I have seen as a results of heavy loads and the extreme levels of snowmobile movement and torque that occur. Backcountry snowmobiling is very intense and a very active act. Jumping from running board to running board, while breaking trail uphill, is a tough task without having a heavy bag, but for cine fella, even more challenging. The goal was to make the bag somewhat 'sled-proof' - as IMO that was about as challenging as things will get.

    As a adventure cinematographer and Red owner based on Brazil I would love to have the option to buy the action 50/70 products with the breathble mesh on the back.
    I currently own a Explore series but I cant Pack a rigged komodo on it.
    Im a great fan of shimoda gear.

      We use Jersey on Action X for the added durability against the tools used in sports. Action sports and many of our X users get pretty dirtier, Dirt and snow are not great with air mesh.

    Dear Shimoda team,
    Can you please confirm, if this backpack also features the removable drop pockets? I did not see this in any video and being aware that the old X70 had a slightly different solution than the X30 and X50, I'd appreciate your feedback.
    Is there any downside or complication on adding drop pockets to the HD waist belt (as different from the other belts)?

    • @ShimodaDesigns
      @ShimodaDesigns  Před rokem +1

      Hi, it does not feature or come with Drop Pockets - the side pockets are different than the rest of the Action X line. You can fit Drop Pockets on the HD Belt but consider it already has belt pockets. Also the volume or girth of the belt is much larger than the others , so it will be tighter fit and also take some of the DP volume.

    Looks like a nice backpack. I was leaning towards the f stop durdiamond but now I'm leaning towards this pack. I'm just wondering which one is more comfortable on your back.

    • @ShimodaDesigns
      @ShimodaDesigns  Před 3 měsíci +1

      I am going to guess this one ;) In all seriousness… Our shoulder straps will make a notable difference as the design takes a lot of the load off your shoulders. Most packs straps do this but usually just the belt and frame distribute the weight, where ours has the additional help of the strap system - which is also vertically adjustable to fine tune to your torso height… and has pockets :)

      @@ShimodaDesigns Nice I just purchased the action x70 with some accessories on your site. I like How your bag is adjustable for people of different heights. I'm 6'4 so that'll probably help. Can't wait to get the bag. My current bag is way too small for all my gear everything's bulging out. This should be plenty big enough with extra room.
