In full costume, Lee gives audiences a glimpse of her sultry role as the villainous Catwoman in the 1966 feature film & cult classic, "Batman."

I was a 10 years old boy in a sleepy countryside in Japan when Batman was televised in my hometown in1966. At that time, I was a little bit scared of Catwoman. But now, I`m 58 years old, and I`m very pleased to find that Ms.Lee Meriwether is a really charming lady.
Lee Meriwether is one of those actresses you never hear a negative word about. Everyone seems to like her.

1) Lee Meriwether - certainly the prettiest Catwoman and nailed the Miss Kitka alter ego.
2) Julie Newmar - played Catwoman as a deeply disturbed, beyond psychopathic criminal and really made the sexual tension between her and Batman work.
3) Eartha Kitt - played Catwoman like a seasoned, hardened criminal (the most believable in my estimation) and I just loved her true hatred of Batgirl.
4) Michelle Pfeiffer - a good attempt, but I just wasn't feeling anything feline from her.

Got to meet her in 2007. She is the sweetest person ever. When I asked her for her autograph, she told me they were supposed to be paid for. But she said, "I shouldn't do this, but I'm going to do it anyway." I now have an autographed picture of her as Catwoman sitting on my dresser. And she's in her 70's and she still looks good.

@j0hndrake thank you for uploading this interview , LEE was BREATHTAKINGLY BEAUTIFUL in the 1966 batman movie , in this interview you can see she is ready to go on set , i am 48 now i remember watching batman as a kid , i must have seen the 66 movie first ( the only time LEE PLAYED THE PART ) , becouse every time an episode came on telly I KEPT THINKING " BUT WHERE IS THE REALLY BEAUTIFUL CATWOMAN "

In addition to playing the curvaceous Catwoman in the 1966 Batman feature film, actress Lee Meriwether is also a Miss America beauty pageant winner. So it's no wonder she is so stunningly beautiful.
She also appeared on the classic Star Trek series, where she was equally gorgeous as Losira, an alien with seductive & genie-like powers. Her revealing costume makes her look even more like a magical genie, but Captain Kirk could only look, & not touch her, because she also had a death touch.

Great interview and Lee has always been one of my favourite film & tv actresses. I also really like her in the Batman movie as "Miss Kitka" - Russian journalist (aka Catwoman).

Lee Stassberg was her teacher?! Holy Cat-whiskers, Batman, so that's why her performance was the most "cat-like" or more authentic of the three actresses who played the character (Julie Newmar and Eartha Kitt being the others). Kitt (ironically) had the purr and Newmar did a lot of (sexy) reclining and "meowing" but Merriwether's was more like an actual cat with so many of those delightful mannerisms which made her my favorite Catwoman. Besides, she also looked more like her comic book counterpart and like that version, she was untamed. The way she said "Da Vecera" was loaded with contempt and is so-o-o much like Selina Kyle--who hated the wealthy from whom she often stole!

+Ashraf Anam I'd like to agree but Newmar simply wasn't available. But truth be told, I don't think she could have pulled it off like Ms.Meriwether, it definitely wouldn't have been the same movie. Lee's "Miss Kitka" was "...badder than the wicked witch", as the song goes!

They all had their allure. Eartha Kitt's voice could easily send shivers down my spine. Lee Meriwether was such a lithe and attractive woman. And I think Julie Newmar best captured the Batman/Catwoman dynamic from the comics. They all have their ways...and lovely ways they are.
I'm sure someone must of written it on here somewhere, but, Lee was crowned Miss America in 1955, after she became Miss California in 1954. She also was in an episode of the original Star Trek, playing probably the sexiest role of any character ever, on that show.

Meriwether and Newmar, the two best looking women as Catwoman.
When I was little, I thought that Eartha Kitt had a very deep tan(laugh at my naivete if you want(lol)), but I liked that; her skin looked to me like delicious caramel. That, plus her intense eyes and that purring voice that sent chills up and down my spine, made her very attractive to me. I loved all three Catwomen, and Batgirl. There's just something about female characters from the '60s: Ginger & Mary Ann, Honey West, April Dancer, Agent 99, Emma Peel, Jeannie, etc..., that really floats my boat(lol).

I love the Batman movie and Lee is the best thing about it. She exudes sex appeal. Pity she only played the part once, though Julie Newmar was wonderful too.

Ms. Meriwether's performance is so uniquely different from Ms. Newmar's, it's no surprise that she had not seen the one Catwoman episode that Ms. Newmar had done up to that point (not her best - the "full grown little girl who had a crush on Batman" characterization was nowhere in sight). As much as I enjoy Ms. Newmar's Catwoman work, I have trouble imagining her in the movie, particularly as Miss Kitka.

Lee Meriwether has always represented class, whether as a Miss America winner to her roles in movies & television. During a guest appearance by Lee as the sad-eyed siren, Losira, on the original Star Trek episode, "That Which Survives," the cast & crew looked upon her with both respect & reverence for the regal way in which she carried herself.
Julie Newmar, to me, was too slutty, while Eartha Kitt is way too crass.
