She was treated horribly by the press in the 90s. She is a gift to this world and continues to do incredible work.
I 100% agree but it was more early/mid 2000s. The ‘scandal’

@@j.y.3604 I found her portrayals to be a great alternative to the 'popular girl', outgoing, role model types that were so prelevant. She brought an awkwardness and individualism that I found so much more relatable.
Also Edward Scissorhands, Reality Bites, Black Swan, Great Balls of Fire, Mr.Deeds, Dracula and Mermaids just to name a few.

Her individuality 💛
She is a fantastic artist and I absolutely love how much she was able to overcome so many of the challenges that were imposed on to her by the industry. She is fiercely intelligent and spectacularly herself.
Because it was an era that can never be recreated.
Winona used to be a regular at the Blockbuster I worked at in Hollywood and one morning shortly after we opened she came in and my boss left for the bank. She's ALWAYS been my favorite actress so of course I took the opportunity to tell her how much I connected to her characters and loved her performances. She was the sweetest thing! It's definitely one of the best moments of my life that I will cherish forever! 🖤
So what did she rent at Blockbuster?
@@irockphilly VHS Video Tapes and possibly DVDs, later on.
@@irockphilly I wish I could answer this. I don't remember. I kick myself every day because of it. On that particular day I was soo focused on saying something to her, FINALLY. Because up until then she always came in with a group of friends and rented under one of their accounts. She also always stood in the back of the group. This was right after her whole court case thing. I remember my co-workers making jokes about spotting a box of Goobers in her purse and me getting all upset. Lmao in a playful way but STILL!
@@joligemeaux Oh that's funny.
I picture them renting some sort of John Hughes 80's classic?
I'm not sure what it is, but I always liked her look and vibe she had going on.
She was just different.
@@joligemeaux I knew someone in the early 2000s who managed a Gamestop in LA. Trent Reznor from Nine Inch Nails frequented and would also come in at opening before the customers all rolled in. My friend said he picked up a copy of Beyond Good & Evil and said something along the lines of "Got to support the good ones." He would chat with him about games from all eras and would buy games with intent, often reporting back after finishing each and every one.
This should have been an hour long! So many iconic films! Love me some Winona Ryder!
I hate the word iconic.
@@cafeAmericano good for you. Would you like a trophy? 🏆
Agreed!!!
So glad she’s in the new Beetle juice movie that comes out in September
Agreed!!!! I could watch her talk about anything. She's one of the greats.
"They didn't think I was pretty enough."
Wait, what?!!
No shit. She was the goth/nerd dream-girl when I was growing up. Me and my boyos were totally in love with her.
Insane
She has ALWAYS been such a pleasant feast on the eyes, and still is very pretty.
I think they initially meant she wasn’t a preppy girly girl… but she showed them how versatile she can be!
Right? She was so beautiful
It a shame they skipped over Dracula, Edward Scissorhands & Mermaids.. Winona is truly an icon❤ she was treated horribly by Hollywood & the press, i’m glad she’s back & doing more interviews
And Reality Bites and The Age of Innocence.
I love Mermaids. I love all of her work, actually...
Exactly! Edward, especially.
@@palomavega6494 exactly, so many wonderful movies
She didn't do much in those movies, nor did they mean much to her. I personally loved her in Alien Resurrection but she's never say that was an important role
I usually hate when people speak at a slow pace but with Winona, it’s comforting.
Too slow foe me. I upped the playback speed and she sounded perfectly natural. lol
This isnt even slow youre just conditioned by tiktok sped-up videos
@@THEDOORIZCLOSED neeever had a tik tok….
I was thinking the same thing .
Yep, she’s intelligent and thoughtful and interesting.
It's such a rare occurrence to see Winona do any press or any type of media exposure especially on CZcams that when it actually happens it's an absolute delight for me and her biggest fans. And as such I do know Beetlejuice Beetlejuice is coming in a few months so let's all plan accordingly and support our Mother as the kids would say lol.
It was such a treat for me to watch this spectacular interview and listen to Winona's insightful and phenomenal commentary on the roles that she has portrayed over the years. I have admired her ever since I was a very young child and she has always inspired me to be myself.
I’m a true crime nut, and I’ve been following the Alec Baldwin trial.
I recently realized I’ve had an unopened Adam Maitland action figure from the 90s, sitting facing my bed 😮
I can’t wait for the release of that sequel.
The original came out when I was 21. Saw it in the theater. It’s part of my soul 🖤♥️🖤♥️🖤
It’s because she’s crazy and her handlers steer her away from interviews because they want to maintain her credibility
I'm sorry but there were many movies missed. This video should be longer.
I feel like I grew up with her - she was *huge* in the 90s - and I will never not be a fan. She's so talented.
same. Same with Shannen Doherty. RIP. :(
Agree she was huge in the 90's.
@@dansavik7137 100% she was the "it" girl of that era. And then, probably, old school Drew? Everything else was normie/cable TV star stuff.

Winona was the IT girl in the 90s
& she still is. She’s got such a unique quality about her. Her films are iconic
Ps. Some of her best not even mentioned: Edward Scissorhands, Dracula, although small role very memorable, Black Swan.
I remember her in a tiny role in Simone, a film with Al Pacino. Remember? She completely stole the moments she was onscreen and made me wish for more films featuring her.
Winona and Meg. Dem two were my gals back in the day. Loved their movies.

I adore Winona Ryder. She's not had an 'easy' life - and she has fallen from grace a few times - BUT - she is authentic, warm, human, and extremely, extremely talented. I am so happy that she is on top of her craft and life again! Love You Winona! 💝
She's a survivor.
Her fall was pretty soft compared to some: pill issues and shop lifting. Plus know to "date around", no big deal. She escaped the divorce/kids/public humiliations that people like Brit Spears have endured. Her life is pretty clean, save for some issues in the middle...mostly hyped by the press.
Is it due to all the fornicating?

Girl, Interrupted is SO underrated. Amazing movie and performance by Winona
Angelina Jolie was overrated in this film. Winona and Brittney Murphy deserved the Attention! ❤
That was filmed right in my hometown at an old mansion we have here.
right😍😫
I didn't realize she played such a big part in bringing to the big screen!

I find this woman so fascinating not just the way she speaks and thinks but even her physical features. For example, I love the shape of her eyes and how every time she says something she always appears so SHOCKED or EXASPERATED. I find it so incredible enthralling. She is such an iconic actress for my generation.
I love her facial expressions and I think part of why they seen fascinating to us is that we’re not used to actresses over 50 who can still… move their face that much 🫣
Good observation, I couldn’t pinpoint what it was but you’re exactly right. She captures our attention.

And now Angelina is the outcast.

Yeah like most of Winona’s movies, you don’t see them made like that anymore. There’s this innocent, classic feel to Little Women that I just don’t think can be replicated. The newest Little Women was a mess, in my opinion.
God, I've always felt Winona Ryder is one of the most sublimely beautiful women I've ever seen as well as one of the most talented actresses (actors? 🤔)

She is one of my favourite actresses, so talented, intelligent and just incredible. I am so so happy she is finally getting to rebuild her career after the media destroyed her.
Love this and Winona Ryder. She’s made so many great films. This should’ve been longer as her body of work is huge. Where’s “Reality Bites” and “Mermaids”. Would have loved to hear her talk about “The Age of Innocence” and “Alien Resurrection”.
And of course, “Bram Stokers Dracula”. She had the rights to the book and brought the script to Francis Ford Coppola and asked him to direct it. It was her way of making up for having to drop out of Godfather 3 at the final hour due to being sick. It left him in a bind having to cast his daughter Sofia in it, which critics said was a disastrous move. Winona felt bad and came back to Coppola with Dracula and to make peace. Would love to have heard her take on all that.
