    In many videos by civil engineers here on CZcams we have been recommended 2-3 inches thickness for the DPC, please guide with the accurate thickness with reasons.

      @UltraTechCementLimited  Před 4 lety +2

      Hello Anand, the DPC thickness can vary between 3 to 5 inches generally,but should not be less than 3 inches. This thickness is required to prevent the raising of moisture/dampness by capillary action. I hope this solves your query. Hi Naresh,
      Thank you for your query. Plinth beam is RCC beam which is provided to control differential settlement or to provide uniformity to building at plinth level and also to distribute super structure load uniformly to sail via substructure. DPC is a 2 inch thick PCC(1:2:4)layer with Bitumen coating and polythene sheet over it. This is necessary to control moisture movement from bottom to walls due to capilary action. However, if plinth beam is provided then DPC is not required as top of plinth beam can be coated with bitumen and PE sheet placed over it.
      Hope we have answered your query.

      Hi Diganta,
      Dampness occurs could be due to many factors such as internal plumbing leakage, seepage of groundwater, seepage from upper floors or terraces, or external water like rainwater.
