Wow, i made a comment six years ago.Time sure goes fast...I still have my 1998 hilux with 215,000kms on the clock..Still going strong with no issues at all and still love this ute.
Now this comment is nearly a year old
@@mouneebak2078 LOL..I'm still driving my 1998 Hilux and loving it.
@@richyearle007 Im too jealous
Hey mate just wanted to ask you a question I was looking at buying this car it has high kms475000 wanted to know how long these usually last for if you had any knowledge about it
All i can say is mine is doing fine, still no problems... 475,000 is high but if the ute has been looked after i can't see why it could not have many more good years ahead of it..@@jameskontrafouris1922
Still got my 1998.bought it 2005.secon owner. 2.7.now has 400.000kls never missed a beat.never caned.no need.T800Aust
Great review! More please!
great video mate. this is probably my favourite shape hilux
Great vid!
If possible, a similar style review of the gen.2 Pajero (around 1999-ish) would be really cool to see! But again, thanks for the great vids!
Actually a 66 litre tank in the dual cabs. 77 is in the extra cabs.
Love my 1998 2.7 DC Lux!
Great Video
any chance of a video on the 1996-2002 prado? Also where is this 4wd track ?
Nice review.I have this ute.. My 1998 toyota hilux 4x4 dual cab SR5 ,2.7 lt petrol is a beauty.I have had it for 6yrs and have never had any mechanical issues whatsoever.I like the shape of this ute and the standard steel rims look much better than the alloys on the ute in this video. If you can buy one that is looked after and don't drive it like a race car ,they will give you many enjoyable years of ownership.
RICHY MARK NORMAN I bought a 2014 hilux with 2.7 L SR5 ...it is the same engine as yours ...it is an awesome car ...I have 15K kms so far but already took it to places no jeep would dare to go
+Ara J Sorry mate,i did not get notified of your reply.I am sure once you buy a Toyota 4x4 or any Toyota for that matter, there will be no going back to ford or holden. The Toyota are just so reliable...cheers
RICHY MARK NORMAN it is alright sir , and I totally agree with you , the reliability , capability and the best resale value makes you never want any other brand again;
Criticism of a small fuel tank...Lol my hilux has a 250 liter fuel tank. Custom made on the bed. Try such a modification xD But never know when you need such a mad max machine...
great video,great car
i have one. only thing i can ad is the ifs is very restricting and the front diff in these is a little on the weak side but top truck if your looking at one
nice review on the Hilux. very good quality video. maybe you could do a review on the Nissan Patrol GQ in the future :) cheers
good rigs the mk4(uk).. mine outdid plenty of lifted solid axle rigs offroad running a 4" kit, front diffs break but are cheap to replace and the rest is strong..they are superior on the blackstuff aswell .. mine has an lc80 sas conversion now , but coiling the rear with the front still IFS first was the best mod , and that transformed its abilty and still kept its road manners .. why the IFS model never got a coiled rear option is beyond me .
I still got my 96 2.4 d/cab diesel, best and most reliable vehicle I have ever owned, just a bit slow on the hills
muddymotos Jane Watson What do you think about a HiLux 2.4l TD D-Cab with 400000km for 4000 euro, if there is almost no rust and the motor lokks dry and nice?
have the exact same truck
I love my dual cab 2004 turbo Hilux Ute.
What size rim and tires are these?
What a ute. I want one so bad.
I saw a very clean looking 4x4 2.7 petrol hilux for a really good price. It's got just under 300,000kms on it. Is that too many kms and what should i look for?
3 years late, but I have exactly one like that with 280k km on, still runs like a dream, haven't given me a days trouble.
The 3.4 V6 was the best engine in this series Hilux
Got a 2003 one. In factory black. It’s epic
If you like heading to the petrol station twice a week sure
@@bobmarli6095 15L per 100km isn't that bad considering cheap maintenance and bullet proof reliability and diesel is usually 20c more at the pump
arguable…the 1KZte 3.0 turbo diesel does it for me…bought it at 236.000km…put a 3 inch pipe…40mm lift…32 inch Maxxis MT’s…Steinbauer Chip with ECU power top up….EGR and inlet manifold clean….got 415nm of torque and making 158hp…stock pump and turbo…no issues whatsoever…
The diesel version you can always use swapped out this four-cylinder engine for a Lexus V8 engine for more power and torque
does that work and fit fine
3 people like toyota in my class i like toyota too
Due to emissions laws/taxes apparently

I never understood why mounting the CB antenna on the front bumper. Just seems like a bad location for it.
+steve rodriguez ... where would you mount it? Bumper/Bull Bar/Nudge Bar is the easiest place to mount and usually they come with brackets welded on to mount them.
Is this the same as the 1998 v6? Or is 2.7l different?
The 2.7 is a 4 cylinder engine so no it’s not the same
Hey,
looking at a 1997 sr5 2.8 deisel dualcab 302740km asking price $8.2k thoughts?
+Trandytran Glad to see you enjoying our videos. Is $8,200 good value? Well as usual that all depends. 300k kms is a lot of K's, but diesel motors last a long time. I'd be more concerned with everything else. All the running gear will be getting pretty much near its 'use by date', so you may find you'll have a lot of things to replace during your ownership. It's always hard to judge good value without seeing what it is and what it has. But if you have a good look at it from top to bottom and understand what you are getting yourself into, then it will probably be ok. Hope you get something good.
+On The Dirt ah ok yeh just getting into 4x4 and discovered your channel last night! great stuff on here. New to it all so trying to get as much help as i can in buying my first car haha thanks for the advice ill look into it a bit more. With the car its advertised with new clutch and shocks and comes with spotties winch and snorkel as accessories so im guessing thatll bump the price up or something?
I bought my 1997 Hilux 2.8L diesel SR5 dualcab for $3500 with 470069km on it. And only the fuel cutoff solenoid and battery needed changing.
Don't they still make this one. Just like the original parado.
Hi lux how much
I would love to import one of the older ones that come with a live solid axles and a diesel one day here to california, we cant get the hilux here unless we imoprt them but instead I have 2 tacomas and my 2001 double cab is alot like this truck but I wish it was diesel for some reason we cant get toyota diesels here in the US???
my piece of advice, just cross into baja california, you can get your self a new toyota hilux in tijuana for just starting at 255 pesos a month, drive it back across the border and you got yourself the gold standard of offroad pick ups
Dual cabs have a 66 litre Tank!
Always wanted a Hilux but no way am I paying the same for a 1998 Hilux as I would for a 2008 NP300 Navara
You'd be better off in the long-run....navaras are rubbish
Will the 2004 hilux go up in price
Charlie Moritz no there shit
@@AHFxCK how are they shit?
Covid tax says yes
Read the article then accidentally watched the video smh then only realised 4 mins in it was cut scenes of 4wding whilst reading the article
Actually it was the other way around... the Article is a transcript of the video.
@@OnTheDirt oh well my bad either way took me far too long to realise
Would you pay 12,500 for a 2000 model with 304,000 kms on it
no
@@TehTrixxable How bout now?
@@MattScottVisuals hahah couldn’t find one for that price now
Hate how because of Americans some Australians call utes "trucks"
I love these trucks. But to get one in the US is a pain and it has to be 25yrs or older.
But i will be sticking with my TD5 Defender :D
