Temujin was the world’s first eco-warrior, combating climate change, one body at a time.

If I´m not mistaken you can actually see Temujins conquest in the amount of co2 in ice cores, after his conquests you see a noticable drop in co2 possibly due to the regrowth of forests over the areas that he devastated and burnt to the ground. So yea he was the original climate change activist

Regarding Bela IV of Hungary, I mistakenly said he died in Battle against the Mongols in 1241, when in fact he died of natural causes 1270.

For anyone interested in this era a excellent but old work exists of the archaeology of arms and armour of the Russ and Nomadic states with a emphasis
on this era, and Mongol conquest.
Kirpitchnikov, Arms and Armour of Medieval Russia.
I am positive pdf's would exist of this work. I owned a copy which sadly a light fingered so called friend stole.
It is packed with some excellent pieces of primary evidence.
I must mention a particular helmet I like with face visor of a grotesque stylr, with pointed style skull dome.
These helmets are attributed to the Kypczak Pecheneg and Czarni Kloboki, all semi sedentary nomadic groups inhabiting the Pontic steppe.

I am unsure as I studied this decades ago but there was speculation that at Lake Peipus in which Nevski and his Druhzina and levy defeated the Baltic and Germanic crussde.
Speculation exists that the horse archers Nevski employed may have been Mongol?
During the crudaders crossing of the ice river they were harrassed constantly by horsearchers I believe on the Danish flank.
I am not sure if further investigation has revealed more but if true it is very interesting.
Guys this is absolutely fantastic and the work done on the Cossacks.
I would love a dedicated video of the Polish Lithuanian commonwealth, that of the frontiers of Europe with the Ottoman threat and Hungary Transylvania during this period 16th 17thc.
    The Crimean Tatary as well.
Sorry I know that is quite a ask.

Is there a reason why the Mongols were able to capture heavily fortified cities so easily, despite being predominately lightly armed and fast moving?
Its interesting given that heavier armies like Hannibal's etc were fatally unable to do so.

They brought Chinese engineers and they would build the siege engines when attacking the cities wherever they were, they didn't bring these engines all the way from China that would negate there mobility.
