- SoCal Gaming Expo is the largest gaming convention in Southern California that focuses on retro gaming, although there is some modern stuff too. Aside from many vendors selling video games and pop culture/collectible items, there are gaming tournaments, a cosplay content, voice actors signings, panels with popular content creators and a whole lot more.

Many of the vendors at this expo had ridiculous prices that were well over market rates 😞
From what I saw most vendors were slightly above the average selling price, but willing to negotiate to drop down to the going rate. Better deals were had on Sunday for sure.
That’s crazy, I got several snes games and nes for $5. Plus I found a donkey Kong game and watch for $40.
@@mackretro1961 some guy was asking $75 for a loose pokemon gold when it goes for about $40. Another guy wanted $85 for Vagrant Story when it goes for around $50 😒
@@mackretro1961 For sure, there were deals to be had, you just had to take your time and talk to the vendors. Most vendors I spoke with were willing to negotiate and I got some solid deals. Additionally, the vendors are not ill informed they know what things go for and are usually starting a bit higher because they are willing to negotiate. On Sunday in particular they were shouting out to pick up multiple things and work out a deal. I thought overall most vendors were very reasonable if you just spoke with them.

Thanks for showing the prices for the games! I almost went but ended up not going, knowing that i can’t afford any of those ridiculous prices they were offering.
Many of the vendors were slightly above the going rate, but were also willing to negotiate. Some were so overpriced that I did not even bother speaking with to try and drop them down. I did get some good deals which is what I was looking for. These were mostly had on Sunday. I may put together a pick ups video as a follow up. Thanks for checking out the video!

I was going to go for some content for my channel also shop but seeing these prices I’m glad I stayed home 😅
Most sellers were reasonable and would negotiate, but some where just not even close to a starting point. I did not bother even starting a discussion with them.
Those prices make me want to emulate. :(

I am assuming you are talking about Jay from Game Chasers and I am unfamiliar with who hand2hand is, but please feel free to elaborate and explain in more detail as to what supposedly happened. I have not heard any of this story yet.

Yea, I don't know what the going rate is for vendors, so I cannot really say if that is fair or not.

@@Nerdthusiast only 4-5 arcade cabinets, lots of empty tables and dead space, the same old brick and mortar sellers because of the $400 booth price (used to be $100), crusty dusty stacks of common Xbox, Wii, PS2, etc. more crafts than games and most of them had nothing to do with games. I was in and out pretty quickly.
@@ZBR_ProXP I def agree with the arcade cabinets. I don't know why you would even bother at that point. To be fair I saw quiet a few uncommon/rare games, but the vendors obviously knew what they were worth. I feel like also the supply that many vendors have is still recovering from moving through inventory the way they did during the pandemic.

I was there, bunch of overpriced scratched discs everywhere. Garbage
I spent two days there taking my time and talking to some of the vendors. I was able to get clean discs at negotiated prices. Many of the starting prices were a bit high though to your point. The rare or sealed stuff, I already knew would be too much for my blood.

@Nerdthusiast nobody should have to hunt for clean disxs period. Every single disc should be as close to mint as possible if a vendor wants to ask top dollar. Defend that scratched crap all you want

@Nerdthusiast you literally said you spent two days taking your time. Nobody should be selling all that scratched garbage that was for sell at top dollar prices. Not all of us can spend 2 days there and take our sweet times inspecting every single disc
