Canonically Tzeentch is the strongest of the Chaos Gods. The constant infighting within chaos means he gains power any time the status quo *Changes*. Tzeentch even broke his power into 7 peices and only uses one of them so hes evenly matched with the other 3 major gods.

There's one minor chaos god he left out that is VERY worth mentioning but under no circumstances you would want nor be allowed to venerate: the Great Horned Rat.
Are you a skaven or any form of repulsive mutated rodent?
If the answer is "no" then you are already not meeting the requirements.
As for who would I join... probably Slaanesh, at least to get a drive to reach perfection in my hobbies.

@@WurrzagsMorkyMischeif To be fair, the Great Horned Rat IS a Chaos God. It's just that none of the other three major gods (or Archaon) accept it in Slaanesh's place, a place it can only make claims to by being the greatest of the lowest amongst the various other, lesser Chaos Gods and because Slaanesh is stuck somewhere else.

I'd be down to follow Slaanesh, and not for the reasons you think.
Slaaneshi followers tend to go for perfection in their passions, this is something I personally love and try to temper down to acceptible levels because I can actually get angry at imperfections when I notice them. There's also the fact that the excess in freedom from morals is something I can, worryingly enough, get behind.
And, well, if I wasn't a big fan of the Imperium, I'd absolutely be following the lore of the Aeldari MUCH more closely. They are so fascinating, especially Ulthwe, the Aspect Warriors, and the Harlequins.

When I think of Slaanesh worship I always think about this story about a daemonette who fell in love with a mortal gladiator who worshiped Slaanesh and they ended up becoming a demonic power couple that is utterly in love and loyal to one another and got demon married.

11:29 the chaotic energy from the warp forms eight "winds" of magic in realspace in warhammer fantasy, these winds can be used in a variety of ways by magic users, combing the winds can result in either Dhar (dark magic) or high magic. Warhammer fantasy has the winds of magic.
They act in flows of primordial energy that are directed by wizards.
A very powerful wizard can whip the winds up into a tumultuous storm that can sweep the soul of the caster away of they get caught up in the flow.
It's honestly one of the greatest narratively driven concepts of magic. As the winds are fickle and can be influenced by a thousand and one things.
So a an insane wizard with peerless powers can have the winds of magic shrivel and blow away from them. Weakening them to make them equal to anyone else in the right context.

Of the big four Chaos gods, I'd consider all but Khorne: Khorne hating magic is the deal breaker, since I absolutely want to wave my hand around and throw out hexes and destructive energy as I please. If the Total War Warhammer game is anything to go by, all Chaos Gods save Khorne have some magic going for them: Tzeentch has all the magic to choose from, Nurgle has a twisted form of life magic, and Slaanesh has some ability to influence others and whip people into an obsessive frenzy.
Everyone's got their drawbacks: I don't really want Nurgle's more extreme mutations, I hate manipulative people so Tzeentch has that against him, and I definitely have my boundaries when it comes to chasing excess. Aside from that, all but Khorne are fair game in the big four. Otherwise, I might just go Undivided since I can't choose for sure.

  • @ShinigamiSamaH

I kinda want to go with Tzeentch, not because of power or magic but simply to fuck with people.
There's the "fight smarter, not harder" of course. I like the Chaos Sorcerers esthetic, the neon blue and pink colors their army have. And Bird magicians, gotta love those.
But if I got a choice for my specialization in spells, it would not be the massive destructive or world altering kind. No, instead I want the mostly non-lethal but greatly annoying kind. Ones that exist solely to screw with the enemies and inconvenient them. I'm sure the massive troll that Tzeentch is would approve of that.

I'm eternally torn between The Horned Rat and Slaanesh, basically leaning one way and then the other constantly. I even ultimately ended up designing a hybrid Verminlord as a form of acceptance.
Though after learning a bit more about him yesterday, I'm also rather interested in Kweethul. He's one of those gods that is so old and obscure that he's totally not canon... until he shows up in a book once every ten or so years to remind us that he's definitely still around in some form. But he's a Skaven who ended up becoming a minor chaos god (this was written at a time when Skaven champions of other gods were more common). He's also associated with goats due to a mutation he had in life, and his followers often get both goat and rat traits. The skaven are my favorite warhammer fantasy species, but the Beastmen are second. So a god that gives me both rat AND goat stuff?! Sign me up!
He won't top Slaanesh or The Horned One, but I do have to give Kweethul a mention at least.
Also it's mentioned in the more recent tabletop editions that there are human cults of The Horned Rat. Including one that hates Skaven and believes that humans are his true children. I just find that funny. Sadly they can't use any of his unique magic, but I think that's less a lack of favor and more just the Grey Seers and Skrye hoarding everything. Pestilens and Eishin aren't supposed to have magic either, they just do because Eishin are the worlds best ninja and Pestilens are Pestilens. Anytime a skaven civil war happens, it's probably going to be Pestilens' fault. They just do whatever and dare you to make them stop.
Quick version; I really do think that The Horned Rat is the best god in the setting. He's by far the most nuanced, and his lore is both detailed and mysterious. The others tend to go too far. Either you know everything and it becomes boring. Or you know so little there's nothing to hook you. The Horned Rat really hits a sweetspot. He's also incredibly varied. The other gods tend to have a niche. The horned rat presides over ruin and decay-without-rebirth, war and violence through numbers, invention and the blending of magic and technology, biotech and augmention, stealth and deception, disease and extinction, and probably other things I'm forgetting. Whatever you want to do, there's probably some facet of The Horned Rat that covers it.
It's similar to why I love the D&D version of Baphomet. He's the god of brutality, predation, and survival of the fittest. He's also a mad scientist in his free time with this massive lab hidden in his maze. He's way more complex than he seems from his description and deific domain and I just find that really cool. I guess I like gods with range.

Ok when you learn about GW and it's copyright issues you first need to know one very important thing!
You can lose your copyrights to your franchise if you aren't actively defending it or seen actively defending it.
Then we have something that happened a few years ago where a 3rd party started selling products using the names of official GW characters and factions.
This turned into a legal battle when this 3rd party refused to back down.
This nearly cost GW all it's intellectual properties and they had to rebrand and copyright everything from the top down. This was the only way they could defend their IP and also had to become very strict to defend it.
In short Chapter House studio forced this.

Honestly, Khorne doesn't seem like the best fit for anyone unless they only find inner peace by beating the shit out of people and/or killing them.
Nurgle, on the other hand, is a very chill god, and one that gathers a surprising amount of followers. Very few people get into Nurgle because they're disgusting assholes that haven't bathed since the Stone Age. No, Nurgle attracts realists; people who accept reality for what it is and suffer no delusions about how absolutely horrible and shitty it is. When you realize that your own mortality is inevitable, or that everything around you is covered in microscopic creatures and substances that can negatively affect your health, Nurgle is there for you regardless of which side of the fence you come down on. Nurgle accepts those who fear death and disease just as much as he does those who embrace them, because Nurgle's great gift IS acceptance of everything wrong in life as a simple fact of reality that you have to live with. Nurgle is a god of despair, not because he genuinely wants everyone to be miserable, but because despair is an inevitable part of life and those who rise above it and find contentment and joy in life and the universe are truly remarkable. This is why the mantra of Nurgle's followers is 'Nurgle loves you'; Nurgle loves you because love is the ultimate form of acceptance.
Dr Festus, the legendary lord for Nurgle in the Champions of Chaos DLC for Total War: Warhammer 3, was a brilliant physician that made it his life's work to fight disease wherever and however he could, becoming a great pioneer of medical science in the Empire. Nurgle was delighted with the challenge Dr Festus offered him, and so sent patient after patient the good doctor's way until, eventually, Festus met his match and found a disease he couldn't cure or treat with all of his medical knowledge. Agonizing over his inability to help his dying patients, Dr Festus dropped to his knees in despair and begged for someone, ANYONE, to help him cure this terrible disease, and that's when Nurgle stepped in.
Nurgle whispered in Festus's ear that he wanted to help and would give him the knowledge of the cure he so desperately sought, along with the knowledge of how to cure every disease in the world, with absolutely no strings attached; all Festus would need to do is just accept the knowledge offered. The good doctor accepted, and Nurgle gave him exactly what he said he would; the knowledge of every disease in existence and how to cure them. The problem was that Festus couldn't handle all the knowledge being given to him, all of the horrible complexities of Nurgle's plagues throughout the ages and possibly into the future, and the experience destroyed his sanity, and with all this knowledge of disease stuck in his head, Dr Festus willingly chose to serve Nurgle, using his vast medical knowledge to better the Empire while also corrupting many doctors and medical professors into the service of Nurgle.

Funny thing, malal reminds me of touhou’s mima in a way, though granted unlike malal mima isn’t from some third party, she’s the creator’s own character, but for some (mediocre) clarification:
Mima is a character who exists only in the PC98 era games (the pc98 games being from the 90s, so they’re kinda old in touhou project terms), and made her debut in the very first game of touhou, highly responsive to prayer, and iirc she last appeared in the 5th game of the series, mystic square, before vanishing from the canon.
And just like malal there’s a lot of people who want her back… a lot of people, even though she hasn’t made an official return since touhou 5 due to the creator ZUN (iirc, my memory on this is poor so don’t quote me) separating PC98 into its own thing while the windows era is its own thing too. However despite this two characters from the PC98 canon, Alice and Yuuka, have made a return into the windows era which might’ve also kept the hope for mima’s return alive.

Technically in Warhammer, all gods of the warp are chaos gods even the good gods. The big four, the Dark Brothers, however are capital “C” Chaos Gods/Gods of Chaos.
All of the warp based entities effectively embody and gain power from the prevalence and influence of their concept. The Dark Brothers who embody very wide and nearly all encompassing concepts like War, Change/Magic, Disease/Death, and Excess have the most power to draw upon to the point where they don’t even need direct worshipers to sustain themselves. As long as by as people are killing each other Khorne will exist. Other gods with smaller or more restrictive concepts will have correspondingly less power

    • @riokollivier
      @riokollivier Před 2 měsíci

That only really applies to 40K, in Fantasy and AoS, the Warp isn’t really a thing, and Magic is just actually magic, not psychic powers. The non Chaos Gods are legitimately not Chaos Gods at all as they have no presence in the Warp unlike Big E over in 40K, because the Warp isn’t really a thing in AoS, the Realm of Chaos is still there, and if it is the Warp, then the non Chaos Gods still wouldn’t be Chaos Gods as neither they or their followers can draw power from it, also souls don’t go directly to the Realm of Chaos, they go to Shyish, further hammering home that the Warp (aka the Realm of Souls) isn’t a thing in Fantasy/AoS.

So long as you don't fail him of course. Otherwise if it wasn't for Slaanesh inflicting pain on their followers every now and then I would consider joining Slaanesh. Cannabis is nice and enjoying some drinks, food and some time to just relax is quite nice too. Sulkan sounds pretty decent, wouldn't mind working for that one. All I would have to do is enforce justice and the law which I can vibe with for the most part.

@@TheLegitWeebs Thanks. Slaanesh ,this is all figuratively speaking, is basically a deranged addict with with a mile long sadistic streak. Zeentch is basically a politician. Nurgel is a discord mod with a worrying enthusiasm for bio-weapons. Khorn is the equivalent of a steroid tweaking paraplegic with homicidal tendencies. They are ALL shit but at least with Khorn I can just make myself scarce for the day and check back in later. Who knows, maybe he snapped enough necks and spines to finally be less angry. Just need to show up with an apology and a gift basket of skulls with a bottle full of blood just for him. Maybe a foot out the door just in case he feels staby still😅
