    I also always recommend using Toyota parts on your Toyota engine. On my Toyota engine I use Bosch filters. Do as I say not as I do.

    Just did my oil change for the first time on my 2012 Tacoma. Very helpful info although I did make a huge mess but it’s worth not spending 100 bucks for a station to change mine.

    Thanks for your guide to change oil filter and oil. Your video helped me with fast and easy change. I would have spent over $100 with a discount. It cost me less than $50 with tax buying synthetic oil of name brand and original toyota oil filter with oil catch pan, oil funnel and it only took me 1 hour of work. Next time it will cost me less than $40 because I just need to buy oil and oil filter. Thank you this help me a lot.

    If you need to change the oil, or any part for that matter, please use genuine Toyota parts, unless your getting rid of the vehicle. I'm sure the extra 1$ for the blue Toyota sump plug gasket and an extra $3 for the oil filter won't break the bank. Look after your vehicle and the vehicle will look after you.

    it helps to slip a plastic bag over the old filter once loosened a bit and spin it off in the bag less mess

    Lisle 63600 oil filter tool works the best in my opinion for that hard to reach filter. I use a 1/2" ratchet with a long 8+" wobble extension and a 1/2" to 3/8" adapter. It spins the filter off easily.

      Just ordered one of these oil filter tools. I'm guessing given how deep into the engine compartment the filter is this makes it much easier to remove. We'll see.

    I can never read the dipstick on these 2tr fe. Always has a smear of oil on it. I have already sanded the area between the two dots but still hard to read.

    • @danielmaine45
      @danielmaine45 Před 2 lety +2

      Take it out, wipe it off and leave it out for five minutes. Then put it back in and pull it out. It will allow the oil in the dipstick tube to drain so you can get an accurate measurement.

    I fill the filter with oil before installing it since it is in the vertical position. I figure the engine isn't running dry while it fills with oil then.

    • @neilharvey94
      @neilharvey94 Před 10 dny

      My understanding is if you accidentally get something in that oil you've pre-loaded it goes straight into the engine because that side is post filtration.

    • @2carpros
      @2carpros  Před 2 lety +1

      One arm tight would be fine. But if you NEED a torque spec 11 ftlb is a good bet. I use Toyota installers for the service manual stuff but it isn't available to the public. Try getting a Haynes manual. Thanks for watching!

    Isn’t it good to take off the oil fill cap before draining the oil out? I also fill my new filter with oil before I put it on. Thoughts?

    • @2carpros
      @2carpros  Před 5 měsíci +1

      You can but it doesn't do anything. Just imagine a water bottle turn it upside down and take the cap off. Same thing on an engine. Again you can. But it fills under a second. Thanks for watching!
