Friend of mine was doing some renovations to his old farm house that required him to go into the crawl space. After a couple trips in and out he got tired of crawling over a piece of old rusty pipe and tossed it into his basement. When he came back out he found 4 or 5 half dollars on the floor. He turned the pipe up and just under $1500 in junk silver came tumbling out. Pretty good hiding spot.

We live in a house built in 1832. We were removing the floor boards in the attic in order to insulate, and we found a stamp collection comprised of several albums, hidden in the floor in some old insulation, and an envelope with bills in it from all over the world. The collection appears to have been hidden there in the 60's or 70's. Most of the money and stamps are from the 30's -60's. Anyone who lives in an old house definately look in the attic. People always hid stuff in the attic floor. I priced out each bill online and the money collection appears to be worth around 2000$. But I'm not going to sell it. It stays with the house. I might even put it back or hide it somewhere else in the house.

I had a friend back in the day that turned his master bedroom into a vault basically. He had steel bars on the windows and bought a steel fire rated door that was locked with a door mag that could withstand 1200 pounds of force. Then he had 2 huge, old school safes in the room that required a combination and a key to unlock. He never let his own kids go in there.

My friend used this as an example: "Mom, let's go get groceries," and her mother would walk over to the drapes and reach into the hem for some cash. So all of this is nothing new to many people.

A word of caution from a guy I know. He had lots of gold coins in a fireproof safe out in Bastrop Tx a few years back so if you're in fire prone areas listen up. Cali I'm looking at you. So this guy had a bad experience as he kept his coin in this safe and thought he was all set. Well, the fires in his area got so hot that his gold melted in the safe and there was a smelted mess in his safe when he recovered the safe. Needless to say, he pretty much could only sell that for junk prices and took a bad hit. So if you're looking for a fireproof safe, consider the extreme heat in your safe placement or selection. I'm no expert on the subject by any means but I heard his story and figured that most people don't consider the extreme heat in some of these heavy fires that are becoming more common.
Maybe 2is1 has a recommendation for this issue? A YETI safe? Haha

i cut out a few tile pieces in the floor by some walls and made a hole into the concrete that you have to reach into and up behind a wall where you can pull out a capsule with some gold.
the spots are empty so that there is basically no reason to look in the direction for more then a second
and i redid the cement around the tile so that the cut lines aren't really noticable and you basically have to use a suction cup to lift
they're somewhat small rectangular tiles thay line the perimeter of my floor so they're easy to work with
(note they're floor tiles and armt apart of the wall.)
    dont keep alot of gold

Same here friend. When I started buying silver, it was on it's way down from the 2011 price and I was in debt, but had some stocks that I cashed out of, at the wrong time because I saw the media and billionaires making sport of robbing weak hands by building up stocks and then take out all their money, robbing any idiot like me who hopped on that train!
I made a little hit with a company that was almost dead and came back to life ten years later, and got out too early then too! I didn't know then what i know now, but I listened to the silver pumpers and the fundamentals looked good , so I bought a little silver. That started a love affair , and the market is as dirty as any, but having the physical in your hand feels good. I don't have a lot, but my sister once said I won't be able to use it unless the world ends, and she sits in her shoebox on disability, filling out forms to get free everything, and lives better than me who has worked from 8 until ? , and am a prisoner to the property I slaved to buy and raise a family, and they are still here! There kids too! My wife died, I died, twice and came back, and should be on disability, but I just can't trust anybody these days, so I guess it might be the end of the world as we know it, and as far as silver appreciating, it won't! If you sell it for paper, or digital currency, that will depreciate and impersonate profit . I'd like to invest in a small place on a farm, but I'm kind of crippled up from death#3 , but have lots of tools and property, and can cook! If there's a prepper community out there, I have lots of spices and stuff that's 4 years old , that's when I went down, but if I have to eat crap in a crisis, is will have flavor! lol Silver is for trading , not investing, when the paper market price is not the spot price, but what you can trade for will be the value, and unlike gold, silver has many uses, and is more valuable already, people just don't know it.
