How To Paint Shore Wash in Detail

- I have created this more detailed video of shore wash to help you get a better idea of the shapes, highlights and shadows that I use to make water on shoreline look more believable. Unlike my previous video, How to Paint Sea Foam on the Shore, the detailed version has been enlarged so you can get a better look at what is going on and I also describe all my reasoning behind the techniques. I believe that when you understand the "why" as well as the "how" the information is much more likely to stick in your mind. You will then be able use my methodology to add realistic shore wash to any of your seascape paintings.
If you find my method of teaching works for you then I have lots of other art-learning resources for you. You can:

Glad to hear you found this video helpful. Thanks for letting me know.
Thank you for teaching slowly so someone can paint along side you. So many of these ‘tutorials’ online show the painting far away and they go so quickly you spend half of your time rewinding and trying to figure out what they’re doing. You’re video was wonderful!!
You are very welcome. I am really glad you enjoyed my video 😀
Thank you so much for the tutorial I really enjoyed it. And it was very helpful. Sheila.

Enjoyed the reasoning behind the reason for painting the shore that way.
Thanks. I always like to teach both the how and the why of painting. I find that when you understand the reasoning behind the techniques it makes it much easier to remember them.

Blue Beach House Art Jenny my progress has halted at the moment. I'm playing around with mixed media and enjoying it. I'll get back to it eventually...lol. I'm trying to still my inner critic by playing and saying it doesn't matter what I'm creating, as long as I am creating. 😊
Excellent video. Thank you! I paint in oils so going to challenge myself to try this 😊
Fantastic. The process should work just as well in oils.

@@bettylewis6222 You are very welcome.
PA, so you recommend a replacement for “red-gold”? I haven’t seen this color in “Liquitex” or “Golden” - then again I’m not using heavy body- are you? Thanks!
I use Atelier so I am not sure what the equivalent is in other brands. You could use a warm yellow such as yellow ochre and add a touch of crimson or red.
@@BlueBeachHouseArt that’s great advice, thank you so much!!!!
Thank you for your great video for painting this. Also, it's great that you don't use loud, irritating background music so I can't hear you. 😁 Oh, I'm also left handed.
Glad you like the video. Thanks for the feedback about the music. It helps me to create better tutorials when I know exactly what it is that people like to see. (Go the lefties!!!)
