- It's time to wrap up our assessment of platyhelminths, and we will finish with a group of organisms you may have heard of, the tapeworms of class Cestoda. What is their anatomy? How do they reproduce? These are very gross and very fascinating creatures, so let's learn about them!

What a coincidence, I just found this channel some days ago for chemistry and now he's bringing out a video about the exact topic we have in Biology currently..
I know exactly what you mean😂
Fascinating informations Prof Dave. Thanks for the high quality illustrations and your excellent well understood pronunciation as all your videos are. Who knew that tapeworms have uterus, ovary, vagina and testis in a very confined space, in every single proglottid 🤷♂️
Absolutely fricking gross but fascinating.
when i saw the word Phylum, I clicked on it right away...brought me right back to 6-7th grade biology with Kings Play Chess On Fancy Glass Stools
K- Kingdom
P- Phylum
C-Class
O- Order
F- Family
G- Genus
S- Species
that was how the teacher taught us how to remember the top to bottom of the Animal KIngdom
What a coincidence, I saw tapeworms today in medical microbiology class
Good clear video as always.
could you please continue your history of drugs series. It was a good comfort series I watched during lunch
Absolutely right! I miss those videos they're like bedtime stories very comforting and soothing :)
@@waelfadlallah8939 Very
I love drugs
Absolutely agreed it's better to be a primary host, unless you become an accidental "intermediate" host through the fecal-oral route and end up with neurocysticercosis.
Thanks sir for this video
Thank U 😮
This is horrific and fascinating
Found a small 75mm (3 inch) tapeworm floating dead in my pond last year, presumably pooped out by a bird. Nightmare stuff.
At least the bird got rid of it haha
@@benferris2764the tapeworm eggs are still inside the bird
thank you
Much love you always come through
Fascinating
So it's come to this. Freudian genital envy at tapeworms.
Things you can't unsee!
Very clear: thank you 🌹⚜
Thanks
Wow so easy explained
Honestly that is most interesting known about tapeworms obviously everyone does i used to have lots of cats. But this is kind of interesting.
Just I don't know tapeworms are much more interesting than I thought they were like I knew that any part of them can reproduce but I didn't realize how I thought they were kind of like a hydro where if you cut a chunk off it just grows into another one but I mean that's still distressing regardless of how you look at it
@ProfDave where were you in March when I was struggling with research on cysticercosis
ive never been more happy to enjoy well done meat. i always cook the shit out of stuff, but ive always preferred it that way!
Casually ate dinner with this one.
What happened to the immunology series?
Sorry for the delay I promise it is coming back soonish.
How did the cows volunteer for the study?
Is pork more likely be infected by this type of worms?
The kind of tapeworms cats get is spread through fleas, but there is a breed of tapeworm that uses humans as a primary host and pigs as a secondary host called "taenia solium". There's also the distantly related but also quite common parasitic worm called "trichinella spiralis". That's why you gotta make sure your pork is thoroughly cooked!
Everyone wants to be like Dave
God was definitely on one when he made this
nice im stil early 4 houers after posted
Holy shite
Just heard the radio anouncers talk about a hockey player who was having trouble with lethargy and it turned out he had a tapeworm.
Saw the thumbnail and title and I thought it was an scp video
I hate tapeworms, hookworms etc. The most disgusting parasites next to botfly larvae. 🤮 I actually found a tapeworm in my salmon from whole foods. Too bad I was almost done eating my piece when suddenly I pulled out a long flat piece of worm. A little too late to spit my food out. I prayed I cooked it enough to kill the eggs 🫠
Botflies are probably the least scary as far as parasites go. You should go check out screw-worm. Those things are what bot flies would be if they were truly awful.
@@eatshitlarrypage.3319 omg im glad I didn’t remember screw worms because it would be on my #1 list . Traumatizing to see those pictures again. Ughhhhh
humans shouldn't be eating animal flesh
Dave please debate Kent hovind at his science lair or whatever that would be hilarious
Already happened
"Debating" kent hovind is like pounding your head against a wall for six hours. Sure, it's fascinating to watch, but you'll just walk away with your head hurting.
@@markshort9098 in person? I saw the virtual debate but I can’t find one where they debate in person
@@resident1123 yeah it's on modern day debates.. hovind vs professor dave
@@markshort9098 thank you
Actually that is what is called a flesh bud. Just ask Joseph Jostar about them!
I was like 😮this is so disgusting 🤢 I would never want to see this video and then 💥 I clicked on the thumbnail…
🐉🤗
Oh
Oh joy
shit they are terrifying up close😅. i'll point to these whenever theists bring up the argument from beauty😂
Harsh! But I totally get ya.
scary
And that is one of the many reasons why you can eat poorly cooked meat but not poorly cook pork
nope
'Rare steak' 😂
Tapeworms? So you mean flat earth pushers?
What a tasty thumbnail.
🤮
Another thing to assume I have... it might look horrific, but at least it's generally benign and helps keep the weight off 😜
Some tapeworms have a strong affinity for cobalamin (B12) and can lead to serious health conditions if not addressed. ChubbyEmu did a video on it titled "A Mom Ate 5 Day Old Sushi" etc.
💕💕🤗🤗👍🏻👍🏻
Nightmares!!!
Thanks, I hate it
That thumbnail is just rancid!!! Ewww!
Looks drilly.
🫢👍
god i'm glad i'm vegan lmao
Vegetables can still have tape worm eggs on them and you can still get tapeworm eggs on your hands which end up in your mouth.. just being vegan ain't going to protect you from infection
As if you can't get parasites through vegan foods, lol. That and there's a reason we cook meat thoroughly before eating it.
@@markshort9098 and yet the chances of that are dramatically reduced due to the fact. not to mention the fact that it's animal poop-predominantly farm animal manure-that causes food contamination in fruit and vegetables, so decreasing animal farming would contribute to decreasing infection also
@@HardToBeAPoopGod most farm animals get regular worm treatments because farmers make more money if they keep their anmials healthy but all the wild anmials than hang around farms don't get wormed
Anti Vaxers: this is what is in those horrible needles.

You kinda look like antdude
Nightmarish.
Thanks for ruining my day :(
this is like that chubbyemu video
Thank goodness I eat my beef med well or well. So all of you who like your steak and hamburger rare or med rare better get checked for tapeworms. 🪱
Thanks
