    After the new pump is installed (and new gas added to the tank (c; ) when you are going to start the engine, it's a good idea to turn the ignition switch to "On" or "Run" position--BUT DO NOT START THE ENGINE--then turn the switch off. Do this a couple of times, leaving it "On" for a few seconds each time. This allows the pump to pump gas up to the engine and fill the fuel system. Then after a few on-and-off cycles, try starting the engine.

    Great video, mine leaked fuel due to rusted fuel lines out of the tank, dealer said it was a $3000 repair. Following this video I could just cut out the rusted parts and use a rubber hose instead. Cost, about $10 and 6 hrs of work, most of that getting the rusty tank bolts out.

    • @AirtexFuelPumps
      @AirtexFuelPumps  Před 5 lety +2

      It will take more than "rubber hose" to replace these fuel lines.This system runs high pressures that "fuel line and a normal hose cl;amp are not designed to handle. You will need fuel injection hose and clamps to match.

    The fuel tank doesn't need to be removed, there's 2 access panels under the rear seat, this is how the fuel pump is removed to change the filter, but mine is a 2005-could be different

    Great video, but after you disconnected the second to the last hose, you didn’t talk about how to remove that little right angle connector, and your hand was in the way the entire time. How do you get that thing off? I’ve tried pinching it with my fingers on both sides, can feel it squeeze a little bit, but will not back off the hose flare.

    How do you know the old fuel pump is bad ?

    • @AirtexFuelPumps
      @AirtexFuelPumps  Před 6 lety +1

      Start with a pressure test. If the pump fails the pressure test next is a voltage drop test. The pump may not have enough power to pressurize the system leading you to believe the pump bad. If the pump is getting good voltage and there are no reasons to believe there are restrictions in the lines; crimps, the filters are know to be clear it is most likely the pump at fault.

    If you are replacing the pump because your car won't start you can skip step one. (If there was pressure in the fuel lines your car would start and you wouldn't be doing the job in the first place)
