What I've heard, lorewise, is that early-stage vampirism is _so_ easy to cure that turning into a full-blown Vampire could _only_ mean you did so deliberately, and thus are very blatantly up to no good. Hence the less-than-zero vampire sympathy.
that's the explanation given in Vampires of Vvardenfell Volume 1 I think
of course, it's a highly ignorant one, there are children who are born to vampires, or the possibility of being forcibly turned (think a Molag Bal cult kidnapping people, infecting them, and then denying them the cure until they turn)
Yeah you have like 3 days to get it "cured" so if ypu choice not to then people bound to get abit pissed 😂😂😂. I'm wondering if wearing a full helm will stop them from noticing in this game ?
3 days isn’t shit though. If you’re out in the middle of nowhere it might take you 3 days just to get back
dunmer are pretty big on ancestry as well, become a vampire and you cant die anymore therefore you cant be part of religious stuff or become another soul in the ghostfence, its a massive disgrace to their culture to have vampirism
It doesn't. There are dialogue lines that suggest it would, but it does not work.
Everyday NPC in Morrowind; "Die foul beast!"
Actual vampire hunter in Skyrim;
"You should consider getting that checked out"
Vampire hunters are just looking out for you, frfr.
Most cowardly Morrowind commoner, most brave Skyrim "vampire hunter."
The vampire hunter from oblivion killed two men without hesitation
Skyrim suffered from....alot of neglect...you walk around in broad daylight and everyone is like "ooooh so weird looking"
@nicholassmirz6041 Without Dawnguard on, you would at least be attacked sometimes if you made it to max stage hunger
41:30 buddy if "beating the worm" gives hand-to-hand experience I didn't need to waste 7 years earning my black belt.

I love that part where he goes like: " I recalled to Ulghgrblthbur, from there I took the teleporter to ilrglmnth and interventioned from there to eosubweowufjthbal, to take a short stroll to Blarghmnthnz and got the hammer of Brmmbrztl." without missing a beat.
And they say Morrowind doesn't have fast travel
Soo...just, talking?
@@anewshurt8789 there are some pretty weird words in there but I guess they're common in morrowind.

Vampirism in Morrowind is pretty fun. But i wish there was an illusion spell you unlock after finishing one of the clan's questlines where it masks your vampirism for a limited time so you can actually talk to people without them vilifying you. (basically the Mortal Mask ability from the Better Vampires mod in Skyrim)
There's a mod that adds a Vampire Glamour spell that does exactly that. Once per day for 60 seconds, people don't recognize that you're a vampire.
Tamriel Rebuilt has an artifact that does that called Namira's Shroud.
I'm pretty sure House Telvanni was meant as a vampire-friendly faction, but there's some sort of greeting topic bug that breaks the questline. A simple fix would've made vampirism significantly more playable.
@@lorecow88 Telvanni are the type of people to be like "I wonder what being a vampire is like?" and actually try it.
@@franzosisch5965 or find out you're a vampire and be like meh who cares? I'm also immortal n didn't have to be touched by some dirty diseased dude hiding in a tomb
Mages guild letting you join but not offering their services sure is something lol
You are on the council, but we do not grant you the rank of master
"letting you join" aka "our vampire test subject"
Equipping that Clovian Hat was IMPERATIVE
That was a big brain move to deliberately tank your personality AND THEN drink from the bitter cup
With sufficient restore health going at one time, you can actually wield Keening and Sunder without dying, as I found during my first run where I made some p o t e n t brews. You can out-heal the damage from these Dwemer artifacts because Kagrenac was canonically a *little bitch.*
A snow elf wrote this
They also deal in Fire and Shock damage, so you can just... Resist them, Magic Res, Fire Res, Shock Res, not being a puny Altmer
Isn't it a speedrun strat to rapidly equip/unequip the weapon to not take as much damage? Although that'd make things too easy I guess.
@@krizalllid and also to fly I thought
I'm sure someone else has already mentioned it in the comments, but while Arena didn't have Vampirism, Daggerfall did, and it's exactly what you'd expect out of that game: kind of cool, kind of weird, kind of jank as hell.
See, the whole 'vampire clan' thing was Daggerfall's primary vampire draw. There were, like, nine bloodlines in Daggerfall, with each little region of the map being dedicated to one of those clans. The clans essentially functioned as another form of "guild", and they had their whole little batch of quests you could undertake.
Vampires in DG came with the usual slate of stat boosts, skill boosts, some spells and immunities, and each clan also had a unique bonus, similar to MW. Unfortunately, Daggerfall's clan bonuses were mostly just extra spells (one clan even gave you a Free Action spell, even though vampires can't get paralyzed in the first place!).
And on top of that, they had the requisite vulnerability to sunlight/holy areas, so you'd take 12 damage every 20 real-life seconds if you were standing outside during the day, in a temple, or in a Fighters Guild in Hammerfell. I believe the fast-travel system accounted for this, at least? But it's still inconvenient, to say the least.
Even more troublesome is the fact that, when you become a vampire, you quite literally "die" and get revived. Were you a high-ranking master of the Fighters Guild? Were you in the middle of a quest for the Dark Brotherhood? Too bad! Vampirism resets your reputation and revokes all your guild memberships (because they thought you died, remember?), and if that means you were kicked out of a one-time-only guild... well, uh, too bad again!
Basically, vampirism sounds cool and is kinda interesting, but much like in the rest of the series, it's more of a novelty than anything.
Daggerfall's Lycanthropy is even less fleshed-out -- no clans, no unique were-quests -- but ironically it was arguably more practical. Being a were-creature didn't reset your reputation, the stat/skill boosts applied to human form as well, and if you did Hircine's quest, the ring basically nullified all the disadvantages (no need to kill innocents, no involuntary transformations).
You're right, Daggerfall's fast travel system will make vampires take twice the normal travel time, prevent initiating fast-travel during the day and will make vampires arrive at nightfall when traveling cautiously (instead of in the morning). It's a bad idea for low-level vampires to travel recklessly as well, since you could arrive at your destination at high noon.
I feel it's still kind of cool from a role-playing perspective - just get it early on and don't get cured...
Lycanthropy is properly busted though. Everything you do as a werewolf/-boar is treated as a separate entity (crimes you commit as a werecreature are not reflected on your character) and Illiac Bay citizens apparently do not grasp the concept of object permanence, so even if you transform into or back from a werecreature right before their eyes they don't realize it's you. And, as you mentioned, with Hircine's Ring your get all of the advantages with none of the disadvantages.
If you think Daggerfall is too hard then just become a werewolf or wereboar.
I did a playthrough as a vampire in Daggerfall, and it added a lot of fun elements to the game different from the norm. It's very powerful and adds unique challenges to get around (for example, I made a strong health shield spell to get around during the day PURELY so that I could visit the bank, since banks have daylight business hours).
The clans vary heavily in how outrageous they are. I was a Haarvenu clan vampire from Anticlere, which means my clan spells were Ice Storm and Wildfire. Since they're AoE damaging spells and you cast clan spells for half their normal magicka cost, I could cast them on the ground in front of me and my spell absorption would replenish my magicka more than the cost of the spell. It made for an absolutely ludicrous battlemage build. Infinite, powerful destruction spells.
The big benefit to vampires over lycanthropes, in my opinion, is that vampires can sate their bloodlust by killing any living creature (including animals and non-undead dungeon enemies), whereas lycanthropes HAVE to kill innocents (like guards or civilians). The penalty for not doing it is also less of a problem for vampires. Ignoring the morality, it's just a bit more annoying to deal with. Additionally, lycanthropes can't loot or anything while they're transformed, which is annoying while dungeon crawling.
I love that the werewolf treatment has stayed pretty consistent throughout the series. Always seems like it's going to be a huge goddamn chore, but you can pretty much also always just get Hircine's Ring instead and then negate all of the drawbacks!
Sooo, I used to think Vampires in Daggerfall were unfinished. They had all the aforementioned stuff, except for quests. It was basically, you're a Vampire now. Then I read this, "and they had their whole little batch of quests you could undertake." Have I missed something all these years? Where are these quests hidden?
A werewolf or boar with the ring is basically playing on easy mode.
I’ve been trying to beat Morrowind as a werewolf, but I’m having trouble getting to level 3 because I’ve been clawing things to death instead of actually doing things. It’s fun running around at mach speeds though.

Kogoruhn's Propylons are all destroyed in adjacent strongholds, and the structure usually reserved for the Propylons in Kogoruhn has been cleared out to be turned into a House Dagoth shrine.
Literally carrying morrowind playthroughs, you freaking ROCK dude.
Hands down my favorite channel. After years of watching every possible version of “Can I beat Skyrim…” and “Can I beat Oblivion…” it’s about time someone showed Morrowind some love! Extremely entertaining content
1:17 Daggerfall have, and its fucking powerfull, in daggerfall when you infected by vampire, you will not die but after quite while the game over screen pops up and you will respawn in a random crypt. The vampires also have some factions on it depending on where did you get vamprism which make the thing more interesting. The advantages are based on your faction, so you will get different buff with different faction, they will also give you a quest and you will mostly travel at night because during the day you cant rest. Also you cant fast travel during the day so you have to make sure you always on night. Also since you die during the process all your reputation in different region will start from zero. So yeah pretty cool
I only found your content recently, but watching your videos is making me want to try Morrowind
Do it.
100% do it! Just be sure to read the manual first, a lot of mechanics are not explained very well in-game.

People will probably get flak from morrowind purists, but I have always just pinned the map in the inventory menu to be perma on screen. Makes walking across the map significantly more bearable, especially since you dont have to open the inventory every 30 seconds to make sure you arent deviating. This feature, by the way, is in the BASE GAME. I never see anybody use it, but it really makes traveling by foot easier mentally
Holy shit you just blew my mind
@buildinasentry1046 Right???? I was about 50 hours into my first playthrough and wondered, "why does this part of the tab have a little divot?" It wasnt for ANOTHER 50 that I actually put it together in my head, once I firgured out that resizing the inventory menus is also a thing. I know I'm not the ONLY person to discover this stuff, certainly not. But it felt damn good to discover them without help🤣
I'm ashamed of young me for spending a decade not discovering this.
I've been playing morrowind for 15 years and you just taught me something.
the UIs in Oblivion and Skyrim were such a let down compared to Morrowind
Ok here's a criticism for Morrowind's vampirism, I'd say that being the wolf in sheep's clothing is the most compelling part of the whole vampire trope
But I like that they make you work for it instead. Like the ultimate vampire would learn charm and master their personality and therefore would have no problem talking to people with 100 disposition. But it assumes normal people are not automatically as suave as Dracula, and I think that’s more realistic. Like the normal person is the norm and they don’t handle the transition well nor are they hundreds of years into the transformation and fully able to capitalize on the benefits.
Much like a new summoning salt video, a new JBN playthrough is a great way to get distrated.
Hot take but I think summoning salt is extremely overrated. He just comes off a tad self righteous and narcissistic for my taste
@@bigdaddy9807Maybe. But i remember seeing a video where the ending 'twist' was that he is the current record holder, and he didn't even hint at it til the very tail end where it was relevant.

Always fascinated when a RuneScape CZcamsr blows up with a one off video about another game, and then completely pivots their channel successfully. Congrats on finding your niche, these videos are all great!
"consulting the godhead" reminds me of "fungal shift" from noita 🤔
You know, despite the name of the channel your vidoes are actually quiet nice to actively watch
Agreed. It's good background noise but also good to actively watch.
Kitty subscribe intermission was a welcomed one.
The cutting room floor fix for too dark moments (buffing contrast for night segments) worked quite well. Won't be perfect, but is perfectly serviceable.
3:37 *AH YES! the giants from skyrim have sent us a blessing!*
The wordplay and random tangents are my favorite part of your already joke-packed videos, it's such a pleasure to watch, truly.
The Atmosphere, the music, the voice acting, the enviroment! EVERYTHING is simply BETTER than everything thats come after! Morrowind is an easy GOC conteder if not the GOC.
(Game of the century)
14:00 To be honest, Morrowind's fast traveling being all in universe is something that I love. Even though it's a game that I can't really get into because subsequent entries in the series improving on other aspects established by earlier entries.
If you mod it and learn to love the turn based dice roll deal, it definitely holds up with a full overhaul mod list and the new engine of OpenMW. You get fancy shaders and fov and everything. Mine basically looks like Oblivion/Skyrim, but with Morrowinds mechanics. Feels like a modern AAA with a more indie art style
I have exactly one experience playing a vampire in Morrowind. Little kid me not knowing what it was because it had a fancy name, resting outside, and exploding from accumulated sun damage.
Good times :3
And that exact experience led me to decide to make a daywalker who could restore health constant effect and conquer Morrowind with my unlimited powers lol
Just shows how difficult it is to play a vampire. Even with a good idea of what you're doing, and even focusing on the main quest, you're still harvesting NPCs for non-respawning loot.
Also, Kogoruhn has the building for propylons, it just doesn't have any of the teleporter structures. The Temple of Fey is its hallowed-out propylon chamber.
damn, I love those videos, as a non-english-speaker the subtitles helps a LOT. Background noise make good videos and they DO can be used for background noise
Seeing you jump and slide down the hill towards the beginning makes me think about how sick a good skateboard mod would be

43:49 I think in this context, "Dagoth Ur" might refer to the place, not the person, so it's not really third-person.
I loved vampirism in daggerfall you could use spell shields to walk around in the day. You could also pick up the traits for natural light weakness and then get health regen in the dark. Was a fun build. Couldn't fast travel in the day though which was annoying
I’ve rewatched this like 4 times and still love it, you’ve renewed my love for the elders scrolls games

appreciate the lightening of the video. A lot of youtubers seem to have no idea that dark colors tend to compress to just black and a few blobs of near black that barely contrast so every time its dark even if you brighten your screen its about as easy to make sense of as an impressionist painting

0:37 That's how stage 4 vampirism is in ESO, which I love. You have to use a spell called Mesmerize (which takes a while to unlock) on some quest givers, and any random citizen or shop owner before they'll do business with you.
That is great flavor. It's not there to negate the drawback, it's there because that's something we know vampires can do! Reminds me of Ian McKellen's vampire in the music video for Pet Shop Boys' "Heart".
I am happy the channel has grown since starting Morrowind content cheers mate
Just found this channel but all these playthroughs are great! Interesting seeing you work around all the restrictions.
i have literally never played morrowwind but i always find myself watching these videos, i’m not even a bethesda fan but i’m just addicting to the old charm of this game and ur editing/comedy style
"and they say Morrowind doesn't have fast travel"
Who says that? Morrowind has striders, boats, mage teleportation, propylon chambers, intervention teleportation, and Mark/Recall. And you can always jump 20 miles with scrolls they give you right at the start of the game.
Morrowind has the absolute best fast travel, since there are a ton of options and they're all immersive in the game.
I have quit playing the game before because no matter what character I wanted to play, I felt like I had to spend all my time running between fast travel spots. Is there a mod that just lets you pick which one to arrive at?
@@karlk5801Just stay away from the game. If you don't have the patience to see the world, you do not have the patience for the rest of the game. Don't really deserve what it has to offer, either.

I really like the added challenges that arent just main quest in these!
I think most ingredients can be used to make restore fatigue potions because most ingredients are some form of 'food', and the theme around restore fatigue effect seems to be food related.
Great video by the way, this is the type of Morrowind content I have been seeking and hitting myself for not finding this channel sooner.
3:40, gotta love you calmly collecting the scrolls from Tarhiel before the man has finished his death scream.
That was the absolute best "I'm Batman" I've ever heard. Hat's off to you my good man.
Loving ya stuff my man, remember trying a vampire playthrough but gave up pretty damn fast, maybe I should give it another go
44:11 i love how you give dagoth ur a quick tap for good measure, and then again after you unlink the heart.
Vampirism in daggerfall turns you into a monster that can destroy anyone. You become immune to everything that’s annoying or dangerous and the weaknesses aren’t too disruptive. The worst thing about it is that quests are more difficult to complete due to fast travel always advancing to 8pm when you arrive whether that’s 6 hours after arrival or 23 hours. It’s slightly more annoying to interact with merchants and you will get a letter every week (iirc) to start a quest to cure your vampirism and occasionally you will encounter mercenaries that will be significantly higher level than you
I love your vids. Not enough content for this amazing game.
I think the current brightness is great! Love these videos, btw

I only learned about vampirism from the wiki, since not many talk about it. The boosted stats are cool, really gives you the supernatural creature experience.
"They don't like vampires" Considering the moment your vampire showed up in Balmora he murdered like, 4/5 merchants and a guard, I THINK they have a reason. (Also loved the disrespectful shiv to Dagoth Ur's liver as you ran past him at the end)
