thank you Dave and Kathy ♥️ I should have investigated that grave, I certainly hope it wasn’t a bear mauled hiker or my comment was very disrespectful in retrospect! 😂 the wild horses are quite the marvel. I imagine people that live in bear country (the states has tons of them) must think im balmy going out of the way looking for bears when there are ultra rare wild horses happily enjoying the environment.
That was the last thing I was expecting to see a train station and restaurant, what a place to work.

After a summer spent taste testing fish and chips, Cornish pasties, going on budget day outs and moaning about the state of the high street this hike was a jolt to the senses! don’t think I caught my breath once on the entire route up! this was our first day back hiking! 🥵

My brother has had 2 Switzerland walk holidays before and said they were the best holidays of his life. Happy birthday and birthday boots .....but did I hear ovarian cancer?? Hot conditions to hike, especially on a steep uphill as well but not a bad path up to the summit, with stunning views too. After that climb I liked the sound of 'that restaurant on the hill' and that little church looked amazing too. I see you were paying for the view not what you bought...😵💫😵💫. Loved all the picnic benches and nice to see the wild horses but shame about the bears. Pleased to see it is not only me making constant bloopers all the time, no wonder all my hikes take so long....cheers Alan
Id love to spend more time in Switzerland, it’s so expensive though! If you can drive or hike in for the day from Italy it’s not too bad but it’s way too steep for us. Yes that ice cream and beer almost broke the bank! The food didn’t look too appetising either to be honest. Lots of buffet style english/german looking food. Last time we visited they had a great section appealing to Italian visitors, pizza and pasta and the like, sadly this had either all sold or was not available on our visit. We did make up for it later though! Gosh so many bloopers on our videos, when i do the first run on an edit there is usually about a 45 minute cut, by the time I’ve got all the mistakes out it’s about 15 minutes! 😂 nothing wrong with a long hike! I’m getting very excited for one or two tomorrow!
Hi Nick and Jill you really give us our weekly adrenaline fix when you go on these extreme climbs. We loved the Berti artworks. The bears 🐻 would have been amazing to see . The peak finder app is a good idea 💡. What an amazing view across to the Matterhorn. Breathtaking views from the top. Fantastic place for a restaurant and chapel too they think of everything. A great way to spend your birthday 🎂. We would have taken the train 😆. 150 bears 🐻 that's so good. Great place for a risky picnic I think they like honey! Great video guys a big 👍 from us. Hi Nick and Jill! A giant road sign that had fallen out of the sky - interesting sculpture, lol! It was quite a scary climb in places - not for the faint-hearted! The views were absolutely gorgeous - I'd say they were certainly worth the climb. The chapel and restaurant perched on top of the mountain looked very cool and dramatic. I did like the bear sculpture although I was rather concerned about Nick's pose! 😬😳That, and the graves of hikers killed by bears was not really something you wanted to be seeing on your hike! 😂 Thank goodness for Jill's singing to keep those scary bears at bay! 🤣I know, we can't talk! 😂A very enjoyable vlog, guys ❤👍
Julie and Lucy 😂😂♥️♥️ thought that train fare (researched after the visit) was very reasonable and I’m all for getting people up mountains by any means possible. the restaurant gives that additional incentive doesnt it? I do so love bears, it’s lucky I don’t live anywhere near them I would be out wanting to cuddle them at every opportunity. no good could ever come from it! 😂 I think the bears must have got wind Jill was returning to the mountain, they got off in good time!

Fabulous video as ever, SUCH stunning scenery and I loved the crossing over from Italy to Switzerland and back again. Absolutely beautiful part of the world and you have really ticked off lots of those peaks on your trip. Very brave both of you to climb a mountain in new boots! Were they a good buy? The hunt for bears made me smile, I honestly would be petrified if I saw a bear when hiking given the amount of American thru hikers I watch on CZcams lol. Before I became a total scaredy cat (funny how getting older does that) I did part of the Karhunkierros Trail in Finland (literally translates to 'The Bear Trail') and not a single one there either. I feel like they probably pop up when we're least expecting (wanting) it 😅. Thank you both for taking us on your travels and capturing the beautiful scenery with your videos and photographs. What a glorious holiday you had and some super memories to help get through the wet and windy January / February 💙
Hi Emily yeah it was a risk with the new boots but we have always had Salamon boots and never had any problems with them however Nick’s were a little higher around the ankle so rubbed him ever so slightly! Lego Lagunalogo! that’s actually quite catchy, I’ll be calling it that from now on! I do love hiking close to Monte Rosa and the Matterhorn but I think our climbs have been dwarfed by all those vloggers that have been hiking in the foothills around Mount Blanc last year. that’s definitely going on our list!

Diolch Anna! ♥️ we did manage to eat at that restaurant four years ago and it was really nice, they had a great selection of food to cater for both Swiss and Italian visitors. We picked the Italian food and enjoyed it. On this occasion they only had Swiss food and it all looked a little stodgy and heavy, probably fine for people that were returning by train but I wouldn’t fancy my chances against a bear with a tummy full of Swiss food! 😂 hope you are having an amazing weekend!

Whilst it was hot this looked a super hike with a little bit of exposure. No problem for experienced hikers such as yourselves. I thought very hermit friendly and not even a bear, then you hit the summit. I confess when I am abroad I tend to take those trains to save time as I'm usually not around in places for long and try to pack tons in. Stunning views at the top and pretty awesome seeing the snow capped Matterhorn. I think those bear signs on the way down were actually pointing the way to a zoo or something. No bears on this occasion...lucky or unlucky...I'd say lucky. I was waiting for a ffs on the bloopers, I know I usually say something like that or I just have a potty mouth 😂Oh yeah and belated happy birthday Jill tho I think I may have wished her happy birthday at the time

Glad you said that Nettie, for me it was a problem, im usually fine breaking in new Soloman boots but on this occasion I did sustain a blister, I think they have re engineered the boot. The wise option would be to break them in gently! Very happy with Google Translate, that was the first time we have ever used it. I can remember my attempts at using a translation book years ago, would take hours to have the simplest of conversations! We were petrified when we saw the bears last time, we were i the strong belief that they sleep throughout the day so seeing them at 4:15pm in broad daylight right next to us was a real shock! We ended up re climbing the mountain and trying to find an alternative route down. Having not found an alternative we were forced to walk back down the same way. We have never talked so loud or made so much noise in our life’s!

What a wonderful way to spend your birthday ... not many people can boast a bear hunt ! Ooo matching new boots fab. Google translate I'm sure has been sent from heaven and Jill's assessment of the modern art had me in stitches ... I totally agree ... not a fan of this stuff on the mountains. But the hike ... fantastic with views of the Matterhorn in real life not just on the Alpen packet. Looked wonderful with a few dodgy bits & fantastic views as a reward. I'm amazed by all these restaurants on mountains .. Oh that chapel was fab with those beautiful stained glass windows but I was thinking how do they get all the stuff & staff up for the restaurant & then ...the train hahaha definitely seemed a bit cheaty to go that way. The bears ... loved the statute with Nick.. The picnic... think I'd be a bit unsure, great to see them but .... maybe honey might have been the answer or is that just Winnie the Pooh ? I’ll never understand how these techy app thingys work but that’s incredible. Yes I remember we were looking at it on our horseshoeing trip 😃In fact after watching this video I went back and watched the one of our day out again … such a fab fun day 😂🥰 Haha the chocs … you build me up so much but thank you for your kind words 🤗 It was just coincidence we were in Grasmere on the same day so I took the opportunity of sneaking in with a small token of appreciation 😊 That day I was meant to be doing more horseshoeing, part of the Fairfield one but scuppered by the weather settled for Silver How … still a good day. First time we have ever used it, so impressive. I remember trying to use an English to Spanish translate book ten years ago with little success to ask specific questions about accommodation. it took forever!

Boots for birthday presents now that’s certainly got some soul. You really should have shown your passports at the wall boarder, that was very naughty. Beautiful views throughout and Monte Generoso certainly rhymes with Generationo Xploreros. Very disappointed there were no bears to be seen anywhere in this film. What editing system are you using for these films? I normally use Luma Fusion but am indulging at present with DaVinci Reslove on my IPad but I’m having difficulty in grasping its complicated system. first time wearing them too Mike, I never usually get blisters with Solomans but wouldn’t you know it I did on this occasion? I’ve broken in a few pairs before without any bother, it looks like they have changed the material on the lip where they fasten, it’s a lot stiffer than on previous iterations on the boot. we missed a trick with that clever rhyme! next time! I do keep dabbling with other editing software but the learning curve seems so steep. we use iMovie, it’s free and it’s for Mac or iOS devices. I do all my editing on the iPad on the free iMovie app. it’s so easy to use but maybe some of its features are quite limited. I do a lot of green screen work on other apps, text animating on Hypertext £10 for a lifetime subscription to that app, youdoodle (free) for other green screen work and creating thumbnails. like yourself all on the ipad. back to walking in the grey Yorkshire hills. meeting the marvellous Metalman tomorrow and several other lovely tubers at a place that sounds very Grim!

Having seen so many bears wander onto picnic sites in the USA I think you are right. PB&J it is, actually one of Jills favourite toppings and we were able to source PB at a very reasonable price in Italy. €1 for a massive jar that would have cost about £6 in the UK. Ferraro brand. UK vs Italian supermarkets!
