I was fortunate in Jack giving me a pre-production Gen2 sodium prototype battery to test for him in the extreme weather conditions of Las Vegas. So far, I have had no issues with the operation of the battery. Thank you, Jack.
I was wondering about this. 140F as the upper limit seems kind of low, mine got up to 137F last summer in Dallas with ambient temps of 110F or so. I was only getting around 35 mpg then. How was your mpg under similar conditions?
@@dalegreer3095 yesterday in Vegas, it was 111° and when I checked the battery temperature with my Dr. Prius app, the battery temp was around 110. It doesn’t get very much hotter than the outside temperature.
Right now due to using the air conditioning a lot, my miles per gallon is dropped about 47-48 mpg.
But when the air conditioning is not on and it’s a 75° day I’m getting about 50 to 53 mpg
Was it the individual cell version or the plug n play pack? I live in AZ. Jack is such an awesome guy.
Recently purchased and installed the V2.5. I am very impressed with the results! Looking forward to trying the V3 GT. I have a fleet of twelve gen 3 Prius’s. Never expected to operate them this long. However we feel they are still the best solution for our company. Thank you for making a product to extend the service life of our cars. Happy to send a review on our experience. Thank you.
I have a 2010 Lexus RX 450h and I have been following your progress and planning to buy a lithium power bank, I'm even happier now to know this new tech will be available soon and cheaper than lithium. Thanks Jack, your work is important. I can't wait to buy a V3.
Awesome! I’m excited to see the new improvements.
Keeping de Toyota Prius Hybrid with the best results of fuel economy. Thanks Jack for not Giving Up. 🎉
Very promising. Lot of appreciation for advancing the hybrid life.
Absolutely awesome, and I'm happy to be here for it!
Congratulations, Jack! 🎉
This is 🔥 ! An extremely durable chemistry with more energy density than NiMh. Love it!
Thank your for all of your hard work, you never gave up and we reached this point in time today thanks to you and everyone who helped. I am exited to see these installed on our hybrid cars, I am a PRIUS driver and I love it!
Intriguing!
I got an email back today saying there in stock and click link butnd all it did was send to back to web page say there where still out of stock.😪
Very exciting development, looking forward to reviews and more details
Sodium-ion battery? Can't wait to hear more about it! You will have to rebrand project lithium.
Update: Just watched the video, very exciting! I love the new factory form that reduces battery replacement time. I think this is the first commercial solidum ion battery in the US.
I can't wait to buy this battery. This is absolutely amazing.
Can't wait to install this in my Toyota Prius v 2013. They're out of stock right now. Can't wait for them to be available.
V3 GT. Awesome job really shows progress.
Good job Jack, keep up the good work!
You guys have me getting excited for my battery to fail!!!!
Im ready to purchase Jack. I'm fully convinced on this. Put me in for a couple Prius C packs please...
this sounds awesome! ty and gj.
Inspired to finally get car mechanic certification so I can install these!!
Would this work on my old 2007 Toyota Prius? I’ve converted the car to a plug-in using Nissan Leaf batteries. Are they compatible?
I'm wondering what's the efficiency now with sodium ions.
I own an 08 Prius with only 92,000 miles on it. My gas mileage has steadily declined from 46-48 to now about 40 around town. This sounds like a promising solution to replacing my original battery, which I’m sure is near the end of its useful life.
my Prius 09 is also about 40mpg with 160000miles
Just keep driving until the battery fails
8:46 how’s international shipping work?
❤intresserad❤
Cant say enuff about jack and his dedication to research and design. Not to mention taking his time answering questions from emails. We are living in a period of time when electric vehicles are not quite the answer yet with the power grid and range. In my opinion, hybrid vehicles are the best compromise to efficiency and lowering emissions.
It is very interesting what is the difference from the previous version.
Salt. My hunch is altogether different chemistry.
Will Gen2 be available? I have 2 of the lithium ion battery's from you now.
What type is used for Toyota Rav 4 2017 hybrid?
Did you test it in high temperatures? Last summer, my first summer with my 2004 Prius, my battery got up to 137F when it was around 110F outside. What happens to your battery in such sustained high temperatures? Mine choked and coughed its way through the summer, figuratively speaking, but then it was okay when temperatures came back down to the 90s in November. This summer it's only making it to around 100F, and the battery runs steadily at 127F. If you need this sort of testing, I'll gladly volunteer!
I wish I could buy a new battery for my Toyota Yaris 2014 Hybrid UK version. Would love to swap the old one with a brand new one but you guys don't have anything available 😢
Hi,I also wanted a new battery for my Yaris 2014 build in France NEX personel told me it would be redy in april this year
Looks interesting but i want to see if some of the safety concerns from the LFP packs have been addressed
Same here. Hopefully they truly improved the quality of these new packs vs the very funky v2.5.
Same here too.. interested, but Safety is important.
Fascinating! Any plans for the Prius Plug-in? How does the sodium ion affect range? 👀
I have owned a 2004 Prius for almost a decade now. It has been an amazing vehicle that gets 45-50 mpg all day long in the city. But......the HV battery cells are its Achilles heel. I have replaced around 20 cells in the last 10 years. At a cost of 20-30 a cell, that's around 500 bucks. I have been looking at Li-ion upgrades, but the cost and availability suck! Sodium ion batteries are a brilliant idea!! I will keep an eye on Nexpower and see what comes of this. Thank you and keep up the hard work!
Hi Jack, do you have any plans on producing these batteries for Honda hybrids in the future?
Does anyone have a CZcams video to share about this lithium battery upgrade? I'm not looking for a long-term review, just some initial insights. Anyone?
Yay!!! Go jack Go!!!!
are you sure sodium ion will be better than lithium iron phosphate? the literature suggests it would have less than half the cycle lifespan plus lower energy density and specific energy.
Sounds great 🎉, but:
An average sunny day at the summertime in the car the temperature could be more than 60 Celsius. Will be enough?
I installed my 2.5 pack in my Gen 2 with 254k TWO DAYS AGO. oof. It works great though so far. I’ll have to wait till my V needs a replacement….
Whoa, that's half the price of a new mimh battery.
What the difference between the V3 and the V3 GT...
🤘
New batteries have a low container compared to LFP. I am ready to pay more for the LFP battery.
I wanted to buy for Prius 2, but you have it ended. I had to take Refurbished Ni battery.
They often sell out, you need to sign up to be notified when it's back in stock.
Reading elsewhere...(in the long run) sodium ion should be around 30% cheaper. With that said, because they are roughly 30% more efficient, then the physical size would also be reduced, then meaning not as many cells further reducing the cost. Will be interesting to see what is told to us today at 12 PM today.
YESSSSS!!!!! 🎉🎉🎉
Well if I have to live in Alaska ever or the Russian cold one day this is the only battery that looks capable of surviving the extreme cold and not dying if I leave it parked for too long. Will have to be tested!
How many KWH per KG?
Around 160 kWh/kg, similar to LFP.
@@dalegreer3095 Are you sure? You might want to rethink that answer… 160kWh/kg or 160Wh/kg?
@@harveyweizman You are correct, sir!
@@dalegreer3095 that’s a very low energy density. Look at amprius…
Did you mean Sodium ion ?
