    • @PurpleandThorns
      @PurpleandThorns  Před 3 lety

      No sis, it’s ok if you pot them straight away as long as you didn’t break any roots. I trimmed the roots on them that’s why I have to wait for them to calloused first before repotting. Diretso tanim ako lagi lalo pag ung maliliit lang. saka karamihan dto orig soil pa from shop kaya hindi maiwasan mapunit mga ugat para matanggal lahat ng pangit na soil.

    You can put large pieces of gravel in the big holes. ( Pumice stone etc.) In this way, the soil does not go through the holes and the water flow increases. That's how I do it too. 🙂

    • @PurpleandThorns
      @PurpleandThorns  Před 3 lety +1

      Yes i used to do that and our driveway doesn’t have gravel anymore haha. This is much convenient for me, but for my tall ones I like using gravel in the bottom to make the pot heavier as well. Thank you for watching and commenting. ☺️

    They look great, and I don't think it hurts to leave any cactus in it's pot for too long so they over spill the sides, they can cope an extra year 😄 I think your spiny Echinopsis oxygona will be fine if you don't fancy repotting it again next year, Echinopsis are quite forgiving 😄 Great repotting and they look stunning! 🤩👍

      Yeah no I won’t repot the Echinopsis next year. I’ll wait for them to spill the pot haha. Some of them still in the bad soil that’s why I have to repot and others are not flowering so thought repotting will help. Only the rebutia and lobivia are the ones really need a new pot.

      Yes you have to mix some gravel to regular cactus soil as sometimes they only got little grit on them. It’s better to under water than over water. Where you from? Here in the uk, I’m not watering my cacti and succulents in my unheated greenhouse for 6months winter time.

    I have that balloon cactus and I removed the pups... but I put them all in separate pot to grow. I hope to see them grow like yours. How long does it take a cactus to mature so they can flower?

    • @PurpleandThorns
      @PurpleandThorns  Před 2 lety +1

      Is the balloon cactus you are referring to is the Mammillaria Plumosa? I have some plumosa planted on their own and some clump. I prefer the clump so when they flower, it’s really a show.
      Depends on what cactus, some needs to be really mature, for example the golden barrel should be really huge and about 15years old to flower. Mammillaria, Rebutia and Gymnocalycium will flower early, those in 5cm pots will flower straight away given the right condition like sun exposure. That’s why most on my collection are Gymnocalycium and Mammillaria because I want the ones which will always give me flowers every year. Echinopsis will flower early too. You can refer on my videos (flowers of the day) to see what size they flower. I have tons of flowers video. You can search Gymnocalycium flowers or Echinopsis flowers on my videos.
      Thank you so much for commenting. Have a great day. 💚🌵
