I disagree with the criticism about the awkward bit. It's there to plant the thought on the interviewee's head that the interviewer thinks that the situation is awkward.
Most of the actors he interviews have had other interviews beforehand, so they might be on an cruise control, expecting obvious questions and so...

@PepeLeWunderkind I don't think so the fact that he said it at the start to the camera as if he describing that persons personality (even thought he may not be it still sometimes catches them out, if you watch through them you see it. The John Cusack one especially)

It is funny. So you're wrong. And don't use an ellipsis (the three periods, you dimwit) when you don't intend on finishing your sentence. You end up looking like a prepubescent girl who is writing her first love note. "Do you like me or..."

But if he didn't, a lot more people would be asking "Is this real?" or "Is this fake?" etc which is also annoying.
Especially when he was on TV, which I don't know how often he did that but I'm going to guess he did this once a week, all of a sudden people are confronted by this bizarre interview in the middle of what appears to be a real news show, so yeah that could make for difficulty establishing a fan base and not causing a letter-writing campaign to the station demanding his firing by people who don't get it.
Gordon, I’m a big fan of you and your bathtub, but this uncomfortable/awkward RANT is going right over the heads of those to be at Channel 8. Just tell them “I want new chairs for my guests and myself or I am out of here!” You might use the word “pronto” at the end of that, if you don’t think it will make them mad.
ADDENDUM: This carries a bit of risk, but the payoff could be huge. You could say "tonto" at the end, hoping they correct you with pronto. At this point, all you have to say is "Thank you! I'd like them in leather."

its funnier when the two don't speak at the same time. Sometimes the interviewer should be funny by establishing the awkwardness but not try to tell jokes at the same time. and the awkwardness doesn't take place until the interviewer stops talking. the one with zach was good.
