- In a major development, Nigeria has begun construction on a railway project that will connect the country with its northern neighbor, Niger Republic.
The $2 billion project, which is expected to be completed in 2025, is one of the largest infrastructure projects in Nigeria's history. The railway will make it easier for Nigeria to export goods to the wider region and will reduce the cost of goods in Nigeria. The Kano-Maradi Railway which links Nigeria with Niger republic has commenced construction.
This rail line is anticipated to be Nigeria’s longest standard gauge rail line, And by far the most expensive rail project ever.
At over 400 kilometers in length, the new rail line connects 3 Nigerian states. Kano, Jigawa and Katsina states as well as traverses the border all the way to maradi in Niger republic.

Why is there no train system in the commercial areas of Onitsha , Aba, Uyo, and Calabar port and most South Eastern and South South part of Nigeria. Why a train rail road to kaura and no train to Aba, Uyo or Calabar.

Road construction are also more important because most Nigeria travel by road. There is no single federal roads that are good across the state.
