  • Check out one of our favorite players, the incredible Andrew Molina, taking his new Kala Solid Body Electric Ukulele on a spin through his effects pedalboard!
The performer’s dream, the all-new Kala Solid Body Electric Ukulele brings a brand new dimension to the world of ukulele recording, studio use, and amplified play. With the same traditional playability, light tension feel, and classic ukulele tone as the best of our acoustic offerings, this new Kala collection utilizes a fully-solid body design and powerful pickup to create the ideal instrument for performers across genres.
The perfect ukulele counterpart on-stage to the Electric Guitar and Electric Bass, this unique instrument can be played clean or paired seamlessly with external instrument effects such as Chorus, Delay, and Distortion - all without the concerns of audio feedback.
Both the Flame Maple and Flame Acacia models are available for sale on Kala's webstore: kalabrand.com/...

Don't know how much it sounds like a ukulele but it sure sounds nice.

hey, does it play without an amp? I mean like a simply acoustic ukulele for practice? should we have to plug it in the amp, every time we play/practice?

It does play without an amp yes! However you will not get the same projection compared to an acoustic hollow-body instrument. You can 100% play these unplugged for practice, but I would also be aware that because of the nature of the solid body design, the tone you will get from this instrument un-amplified will be on the thinner/tinnier end. I will suggest to our team that we share a sample of this non-amplified.

What's the difference between the Maple and Acacia-topped designs, just appearance? What's the body made of below those face materials? I might need to take up the tenor Uke and get one of these. I already play bartione uke and acoustic guitar, but don't like electric guitars due to their weight. Cheers
