- In 1955, my family lived in Banning, California and my younger brother Bruce was born there.
Today, 69-years later, my daughter Marcia and her husband Bobby, just bought a home in Banning. It's such a small world and feels like a full-circle moment.
Today was moving-in day!

I didn’t realize Marcia and Bobby were older then 55 could of sworn they were younger then me. Wow I’m moving to California, the wonders it does to your skin.
Lol Bobby just turned 55 and Marcia is still a couple of years away from 55, but younger spouses can live in a 55+ community as long as the person they’re married to is 55. You are very observant Denise. 😄👍

Hi Nancy, it really is even more spacious in person than in the video. Plus in the video I was so busy helping them unload that I didn’t even film half the house lol. 🤪 it was fun to see our old house, even though it was pretty rundown. I’m sure it was very nice when it was new. I’ve always really liked little towns like this. 😄👍

I have spent time at the reservation..... It's been about 20 years... Looks much nicer now... As far as cooler I remember the wind was always blowing through that canyon...

Steve, I've noticed that the yards are small compared to the size of the home. I'm assuming that this is the norm around where you all live.
I would have never guessed the temperature difference being so close. That honestly boggles my mind. Lol

Hi Stacy, yes the population is so dense here in Southern California that yards are typically very small compared to other parts of the country. And this is at 55+ community so they tend to be even smaller. Most retirees here don’t want yards or they want very tiny yards so there is nothing to maintain as they continue to age. 😎👍

Isn't it interesting how life is cyclical? You lived in Banning as a child & now your daughter lives there. I've had similar things happen to me as well. I wonder if your mother planted those large trees in the front of your old house. They look like they've been there a long time. Much happiness to Marcia & Bobby in their new home. House is absolutely beautiful and I am with you I absolutely love calla lilies any problem here in PA you have to plant them every year they do not come back unless you know of one that keeps coming back and could let me know blessings to you and yours
Hi Debbie, I’m surprised that anything survives the snow back east. Southern California is pretty mild most of the year so we are lucky when it comes to plants. Palm Springs on the other hand gets to 120° in the summer, so only the most drought tolerant plants survive here. 😲😎👍
@@theretiredlifewithsteve I do have some things that survive Lily's roses clematis I can grow Calla Lilies but they do not come back each year my penis come back my other lilies all come back everything I plant comes back except the calla lilies

If I tip it’s because they have given me a service, such as waiting on me at a table. Bringing my food. Refilling my drink order. Someone standing there taking the money has not given me a service requiring a tip. Unreal.
Exactly MJ, it’s really beyond insulting that they would even ask for a tip. Are they going to start asking us for tips when they ring up our purchases at 7-Eleven now? Or any store for that matter! 🤪
Hope there's no HOA around there. I've heard lots of horror stories about them.
Yes, they have an HOA. All of the gated communities here have them and most of them are a nightmare. but you have almost no choice when it comes to newer homes in California. 🙃

Hi Andy, yes this has become a thing now all over the country. Companies are asking you to tip the person at the counter who takes your order. This is a takeout restaurant only. There are no waiters or waitresses. The person at the counter is just taking your order like the person at the 7-Eleven or McDonald’s and now they are asking you to tip them for doing that lol! 🤪

Hi Rex, The funny thing is while I was driving through town I saw a couple of rainbow crosswalks. I was very pleasantly surprised. We have never had a problem with water here, but in the future I’m guessing they will figure out how to desalinate the ocean water at an affordable price and then it will be unlimited here, since we are on the coast. 😄👍
We get pizza from Papa Johns and never tip for them to take our order. That's ridiculous!

Thanks for the question. I will answer it in my next Q&A video. But briefly, if I tip the guy at the counter who takes my order, then I would also have to tip the guy at the counter taking my order at the 7-Eleven and the guy at McDonald’s taking my order and on and on.
By that logic the gas station should tip me for putting my own gas and Walmart should tip me for checking myself out and so on. Tips are only a thing because corporations refuse to pay their employees proper wages. tips have always just been customers subsidizing the corporations. Kind of kookie if you ask me.
Well, while I agree about companies not paying their employees proper/ fair wages, it isn't kookie if you are that employee that relies on tips
