  • In this video collaboration MojaveKy and Alpha Camaro create a video to show a potential 6th Generation Camaro SS buyer the differences between a 1/SS and a 2/SS Camaro. No matter which one you choose it will still be a great decision! At the end Of the video I show you what I feel is the most important feature... and I can't believe that I almost forgot!

    this is the best comparison in my opinion. it explains so much and the idea to show both trims by changing back and forth, one feature at a time helps alot.

    Having a 17 2SS I think the best features are the added safety ones which with the diminished visibility in the car, to me, are a must. The camera with back up sensors is great, but you forgot to also mention the cross traffic monitoring that will detect cars coming from left or right out of your view which works awesome. The blind spot monitoring imo should've been included with all trims, but is again a great feature to help you on the road. The homelink is great for me in a gated condo as I can get rid of a remote. Also the heated steering wheel and cooled/heated seats are nice too.

    After watching this video I am so happy I went with the 2SS, and not just a 2SS but a special ordered one...with that it did set me back 52K but I also have forced air induction, basically the same as the ZL1. I did have to get it tuned to get the full effects of the motors potential but it was well worth it.

    • @jsb1561

      It was installed aftermarket but before I received the car plus it was figured in with the price. The one they installed was the Magnuson TVS2300....It's not the strongest or the best just the one they use. This same company also does headers, cam & lifters and Nitrus, but did not want it. They strongly advised changing the cam but elected to stay stock. When I dino tuned it, it put out 525 hp to the wheel and my poor rear tires lasted 8,000 miles. It has a terrible 0 to 60 at 4.9 but that is because it spins the whole way...1/4 at Royal Purple Race track is mid 11's with a standard shift and once again I can not get traction. I do have launch mode but I have never used it. I'm 55 years old and not a race car driver...put someone in the car that is I think it would do good. The only downfall I have about it is it makes winding sound all the time.

    wifey went nuts the fancy door sill light saying "CAMARO" and door/dash color-changing led (is that what thy are?) lights on the 2ss. so i think they're kind of a must if you're married. also, she's bummed we didn't get the red leather inserts in the black leather seats, front and rear. that's $500 over and above the cost of the base 2ss. i also think the 2ss cross traffic alert and lane change warning indicators on the side mirrors are kind of A MUST in this viewing challenged camaro.

    You just said the 1SS had 2 door speakers and 2 dash speakers. You forgot to mention the 2 rear speakers, and if you add a $200 Pioneer TS-WX1210A powered sub with 350w rms and a under dash bass boost knob you can mount anywhere nobody can tell the difference between the Bose and the stock system.
    Its true there is a dual zone climate system on the 2SS...but it's just me now.
    But I updated to OEM leather with red accents and Factory GM SS on the seat ($999). Then OEM red leather knee and door bolsters $289, and installation of the leather seats $400.
    So
    $200
    $999
    $400
    $289
    So $1900 and ny 2018 1SS already has a sunroof and NPP. Other than the HUD, MRC, & heated seats in VA
    There really isnt much left to be desired. Since I am a car guy and LOVE to have a box of cool stuff arrive I think the lighted door sills are an excrllent add. But one thing I have on my list to add is the B-14 Bilstein Nordschliffe PSS sport adjustable suspension $1099. $2999 plus $350 to install plus $200 for the lighted door sills (used). I already found a pair of Bose door speakers and the amp is the same 20 watt rms x 4. So I got the aluminum "Bose" pins with the speakers will be adding those on soon
    Great comparison. You get a lot with a 2SS. Finding g one that is affordable? That ship has sailed!!

Like you, I'd have liked the lighting the 2SS offers, but that can be added later, even the door panels and the dealer will add the programming to change the colors. A 1SS 1LE is how you buy a Camaro, if you have enough money then a 2SS 1LE is even better. But a 1SS 1LE is much better value than a standard 2SS.

    • @alphacamaro8124
      @alphacamaro8124  Před 4 lety

      Oh why is that? 1LE has the bigger front calipers and the electronically controlled IRS. I think in this case it’s more about purpose/fitness to what you intend to do with the car. I would have loved to have had a 2SS 1LE but they didn’t exist when I bought my car.

    I think if I’d have bought a 1SS might have thought the added features are over rated,but since I bought a 2SS I couldn’t imagine being happy with the car without them,if for nothing more than saying “hey,my car has this “ one of my favorites is the lighted door sill

  • @FranksModelAviationWorkshop

    Personally, I’ve owned both. You don’t need all that 2SS stuff adding extra weight to your Camaro. My 2019 SS is a 1SS. I don’t miss the extra options. As far as the stereo goes, the Bose system is awesome, but I bought my 2019 for performance reasons. I traded my fully loaded 2013 2SS for a 2019 1SS. It has zero options. I love the new Camaro. Great video comparison.

It's the same for all three. Actually the 1SS should be minutely faster as there is less equipment on board, and thus it’s lighter.

I thought the stereo on the 1SS sounded more true to the recording than the 2SS, i spent a good 60-90 minutes in each car at the dealership much to the grief of the salesman, i brought my own music. i listen to everything from dubstep to classical, so my usb pen was loaded up with just that....the Bose to me sounded boomy and bassy to me...if you like that then get the 2ss ...its good for dubstep and rap...anything else kinda hit or miss due to too much bass when it hits certain frequencies....and i love bass but it has to be tight and true. why did i get a 2ss then...the safety features + magride thats it....to everyone saying the cross traffic alert and blind spot monitoring is awesome....im sorry to say but compared to my toyota sienna family hauler it SUCKS ! a little rain and the blindspot alart throw's off tons false alerts ...in the dry its better but sometimes fails to see a hidden car...cross-traffic alerts is over sensitive, i often park in a parking lot thats separated from the main road by a wide sidewalk plus grass....and it still throws alerts that someone is on the main road in a galaxy far far way...knowing the tech its hard thing to get right though. my sienna on the other hand gets blind spot right, and the rear cross traffic works really well, maybe because the sensors are able to sit higher on it. i wish it had front parking sensors to avoid scraping curbs and concrete parking blocks....if it did i would lower the car in a heartbeat...but stock 2SS sits high enough that front fascia should be high enough to avoid scratches....also the different magride's was much more evident on the 1LE compared to the 2SS but i still like it !...all in all i LOVE my 2SS...adjust the mirrors properly and you dont need the blind spot monitoring.....

      CygnusX250 - I agree very bassy... I keep the bass turned pretty low, the mids and highs are nice though. I really have never cared for Bose in a house set up. I'm a Yamaha guy and all my speakers are B&W. Cross traffic on my car works great but it it is very sensitive. Thanks for watching and commenting!

    No offense to you guys, but after doing so much research, forget the 1SS or 2SS. Get a 1LE (I'm aware the 1LE is a 1SS with upgrades...relax)! I mean after the recaros and all the other sruff, the interior of the 1LE comes out looking beautiful, outclassing the 1SS interior by a lot. Its incredible for the money both in appearance and most definitely in performance. Hell, if you really care about interior like that get the newly acclaimed 2SS 1LE. I heard about there being a 1LE package available for the 2SS in 2018 but idk how true that is, would somebody care to educate me?

      1LE Azul - lol! This video was strictly for 1/SS and 2/SS. When we got our cars in 2016 the 1LE wasn’t available to purchase yet! The 2/SS 1LE I’m sure is great inside and out. The new SS 2019 will basically be what you are talking about. I’m just not big on the new look.

    • @alphacamaro8124
      @alphacamaro8124  Před 6 lety

      William - pends on what you want long term. I knew I ultimately I wouldn’t be happy unless I got leather. I knew I’d always be wishing I had the lighting package. I didn’t want to buy a “new car” cause you always pay way too much. So bought this one slightly used /pre-owned after extensive searching, so it was new (few months old 5k miles) and I saved @$9k off the original sticker price. I don’t care for the front fascia of the 2019 refresh. I do like that it’s basically a 1LE with all the goodies. I’d prolly have to get the American Authority front end for it.

    • @wtpiv6041
      @wtpiv6041 Před 6 lety

      Alpha Camaro Yeah I’m thinking spend a little money on the 1SS and mod it with the rest. I mean the 2SS would be nice but it’s about a 5-6k difference in price. It’s just hard to justify. The 1SS still seems to be an upgrade over my 1LT so I don’t see why not? I just need the sunroof and I’ll be happy. My neighbors will hate me but even if it’s a dual exhaust a Borla S-Type or Atak would be a great mod since I doubt it would have NPP.

    • @alphacamaro8124
      @alphacamaro8124  Před 6 lety

      William - well you can get the 1SS with NPP if you look around. I can’t lie I love the NPP. If you are gonna go slightly used I think 1SS vs 2SS won’t a huge diff in price tho. Remember just like in this video - there’s a lot of stuff “comfort” related stuff that you get for a little more. The nicer stereo the heated /auto dimming side mirrors/larger Nav screen/ backup alarm/ lane change warning... all kinds of stuff that I’m so glad that I have. Either way though you’ll love the power.
