I find Logain’s arc super cool! Going from “Dragon Reborn” to rock bottom, struggling with direction after having everything taken from him, to having a sliver of hope and being set free, to actively deciding to do what he see’s as good with his new position while no doubt struggling with the last couple years. Dude must have some mental trauma after everything he went through. A morally grey loose cannon that chose the light over the dark, I look forward to what they do with him in the show.
Yes, It’s a great arc!
Excellent show, Anas you are really hitting your stride as innkeeper!
Thanks!
I am Logainough!
Studies have shown women are not as focused on hierarchy as men. When women lead, the actual organizational structure changes, But Jordan had nothing but male structures including women in school systems and Catholic nuns to look at--those are still male structures. It's only very recently there are enough women in more types of jobs to see how they would act. Jordan's female characters were strong and complex but he still placed them below the men. In power, in competence, and in task importance. Perhaps partly because in a world where ALL the structures mimic the Roman Empire, this could never be a matriarchy because an actual matriarchy would be a completely different world. Logain is awesome UNTIL he bonds women without their permission. He was in my top 5 favorite characters until that. Perrin turns 300 women over to the Seanchen. Why are these men still fan favorites? It's like voting for a racist presidential candidate. Apparently, for some, that's not a deal breaker. He does have one of the most interesting arcs in the books, but, like Perrin, he does not grow in a positive way. It's a tragedy. I do not agree that we give Alanna any slack. Who does? No one I have ever heard. We say she does it out of trauma but that it was always in her character. In fact, I'd argue that most fans have no sympathy for Alanna, but Logain's evil is minimized and excused as they supposedly WANT to sleep with him and he treats them better than Taim would? Right. Uh, Tell that to HR. The idea that the women "deserved" their treatment is ...sheesh...sounds like a domestic abuser talking. BUT Login does the right thing in the end. That does not excuse anything, but it's still a great arc.
I think I mistakenly said slack when I meant stick
I don't like forced bonding either, but there are several things that make it less "bad." First, they were prisoners of war, sent with orders to kill all the men in the Black Tower, the Ashaman couldn't capture them any other way since they were channelers . Second, he doesn't sleep with them, only with Gabrelle, who even admits that it took her days to seduce him. It's still not right, but it's not exactly as you portray it. (Sorry for my poor English)
