- Governments have been hacking into people's privacy for years.
Some of the technology to do it is for sale and tens of thousand of politicians, journalists, lawyers and activists have been targeted.
The system's called Pegasus. It's from an Israeli spyware company called NSO.
Thanks to evidence collected by the Paris-based NGO Forbidden Stories and Amnesty International, it seems there are 50-thousand people whose phones have been selected.
Most of the numbers were in Gulf Countries and North Africa. But others include India, Pakistan and France.
So, how much of a threat is advanced technology to privacy and human rights?

AJ have some of the greatest most inclusive international reporting out there. They always try to give a voice to both sides of the debates. Of course they don't bite the hand that feeds them but other than that they are really unbiased and in-depth

How to find out if your phone is hacked?

Messages from unknown numbers is a hint. Those numbers would be offline forever.
Use need to disconnect with the cell tower and replace it's connection manually instead of auto matic. Get a VPN and don't save contacts by real names. Try the zoo names. Or use coding, I have been hacked a hundred times already. Now I use burner phones and use network engineer app which logs all data outgoing and incoming. Disable all backups. Jail break the installed version of phone software. Limit the data and uninstall every assistant app. Break away the wifi LAN card, Bluetooth radio card, GPS card and Microphone and puncture all cameras. When you need to call anyone use earphones with a mic only when in use. So phone is blind deaf and has no idea where it is. All low power Bluetooth battery drain would be stopped. WiFi is also taken out so phone has no accurate location.
