You're right Harri. Billy Joel is a genius. He writes beautiful songs that people can relate to. Thanks Harri for the reaction and Jami for the selection.
@@Imadrummin So spot on! You couldn't put it any better. If the only BJ songs I could ever listen to for the rest of my days were off of The Stranger and 52nd Street albums, I could live with that.
Back in college, friends and I stayed up late drinking beer. We found this album left in a closet from previous residents. Listened to this song and “My Life” over and over. The next morning, I wasn’t feeling too great and had “heart attack ack ack ack ack ack” running through my throbbing head. Can’t hear this song without remembering that experience.
@@amyk9175 Yeah Movin' Out was on The Stranger album from 1977 and My Life was on 52nd Street from 1978, but both were on Billy's Greatest Hits I and II from 1985 but I think it was just when you said "this album" that threw the other poster. A little bit of trivia here, 52nd Street was the first mass released commercial CD album.
Great ate ate ate ate ate ate song 😋 Billy Joel is truly legendary. My faves by Billy are this one,Big shot and It's still rock and roll to me. Of course he has plenty of other great songs to.
Another great reaction! You would love All About Soul just keeps you moving! Keeping the Faith, I Goto Extremes- (my favorite), This is the time, just so many to go.
From "The Stranger" album released in 1977, Moving Out, is a beautiful song with great Billy Joe's vocals that made it to Number 17 on the charts. Billy first wrote it as a soft ballad tune but his band told him it sounded too much like Neil Sedaka's"Laughter In the Rain". So Billy made it into a more rocking tune with phenomenal instruments. The car at the end was Doug Stegmeyer's Corvette that they taped with a mike hanging out of the car. Fabulous tune. Great reaction Harri. Thanks Harri and Jami. 👏👏 Cheers from Canada 🇨🇦
My Dad remembered this song for the "-ack-ack-ack" part, when my Brother played this album, a lot, in 1978. 🙃 "The Stranger" is one of Joel's true masterpiece albums. And the character study of people in his neighborhood, and the locations -observant lyrics.
In an interview with B.J. He explained the ak ak ak . He told this producer he wanted reverb to make it sound like Heart attack ak ak ak ak. He sang it. The producer said " No, just do what you just did." Billy did it and it was the hook that sold the song.
Hari another great tune from the album that elevated Billy to become an international superstar! You should react to the whole album at one time if possible!
A big thanks to Jami A and Harri for bringing back so many of Billy Joel’s fantastic songs that I had come to take for granted. Harri is so right! There is a huge genius element to all of them. What a Great American treasure!! I love it!!🌺✌️
Humorous Billy Joel songs (song and/or music video) "Keeping the Faith" (Why Mr. Joel was recording 50's style songs at the time.) "Big Shot" (Take care what you say at parties.) "Tell Her About It" (Music video is in the style of an Ed Sullivan Show broadcast.)
i''ve lived near places where keeping up with the joneses, and paying the property taxes, and the commute - is pretty hellish. the looks on those commuters faces. pure rage.
This song has so many meanings to me, being someone that was 17 when it came out. The burnout near the end was the way of saying f-you to the world, in the 70's.
Great reaction Harri, thank you. As a young teen Billy Joel was the first singer I really got into (after I came out of my BC Rollers phase 😵💫) 40+ years on, and I still love singing my head off to any number of his great tracks.
Harri I'm so happy to watch a reaction from someone who truly gets it and expresses the getting it, too many times it's just the feel or the rythym but with you its all that and the meaning/message/story and I really appreciate that. Growing up with Billy Joel and his music in the 80's I so enjoyed how much his message from NJ and rythym could move me down in Texas and I knew if it was doig that it was moving the world and I took great comfort and joy in that knowledge.
One of my favourites by him, and it sounds great live, it's a real crowd pleaser. The Stranger is a classic album and it was the one that first got me listening to Billy Joel.
Hi Harry I don't know if you are aware that Billy Joel is playing Hyde park in July this year he will be 74 but it will be the best concert you will ever see. Please play .This Night.
The "Stranger" album is my favorite by Billy Joel. Love all the songs on it. I think you've reacted to most of them now. Two others are "Everybody Has A Dream" & "Get It Right The First Time".
KIronically the song was a big hit in Spring 1978, just as I moved out of my parents house during college, for the very first time to start my 5th year in college the next fall. I got lonesome for home, parents, brother and dog REAL fast, lol. They were only 7-8 miles away!!! Now, they are all gone...there's only me left....what turn of events over a lifetime...I was older than my brother. I do have my adult kids [out of the house also], wife, and two sneaky little cats.
Talento infinito ... Specialmente LIVE......tutti gioielli nel suo repertorio.... Consiglio Leave a tender moment alone ..live... Duet con Tielemans 👏👏👏👏
Lot of great Hip Hop samples on this album, this song was flipped by Heatmakerz for Dipset and Das Racist used it later, and the intro piano to the second song was used by Pro Era, and that’s just the first two songs there’s probably a lot more
Not trying to be a dick here but I think you are mixing up this song with Only the Good Die Young. This song Movin' Out was written music first and then lyrics in Billy's usual way but his then drummer Liberty Devitto said that the tune was to Neil Sedaka's song Laughter In The Rain. Billy did not want to waste the lyrics though and so he wrote new music to them, with the feel of the song meaning to have a prog-rock vibe to it reminiscent of the band Yes.
You totally nailed his meaning-- the pointless hard work to achieve the overated "American Dream," a luxury car and a house in the suburbs, which here are a Cadillac and Hackensack, New Jersey, definitely not worth the effort.
You're right Harri. Billy Joel is a genius. He writes beautiful songs that people can relate to. Thanks Harri for the reaction and
Jami for the selection.
He is a musical genius! His songs are so good and he tells so many life stories. It’s just great entertainment! 😊
Name me a bad song on "The Stranger" album? Who doesn't love this iconic Billy Joel hit? Great selection, Jami, and reaction, too, Harri!
It's a greatest hits album without releasing as a greatest hits. You're correct my brother PNCombies.
I agree Neal. Every song is a masterpiece on this album. 👍✌️🎶🇨🇦

Nope,can't name one bad song!
@@Imadrummin Was this song also called "Anthony's Song" as well? Something about his friend and bandmate inspired this song!
My favourite song of Billy Joel !!! Thanks. So much !! I'm moving out too !!!

Great storytelling, by the great BILLY JOEL !!!
This is a very fun, upbeat song Jami, and Billy Joel has so many great ones. Thanks Harri.
First time hearing this song- wow!!

Billy Joel,America’s answer to Elton John.
Both geniuses to my ears.
My favorite album, and Harri, I wish you would play the title song to this album 'The Stranger', promise it's excellent. Thanks Harri
He did it already
Absolutely one of Billy Joel's top songs.
I simply enjoy watching you enjoy Billy Joel.
Billy Joel is a bottomless pit of masterpieces love him love you
What a great studio recording! Often the energy of the live show is lost in the studio, but Billy and his amazing band certainly delivered!

Try Great Suburban Showdown by Billy, love that song it has a country vibe.
I love all of his songs! Please, listen to "James". It's beautiful!
Turnstiles that James comes from is my favourite Billy Joel album, where his already very good songwriting previously, just went up to a new level.
Is there anyone more quintessentially NY City than Billy Joel?
The echo broken backakakak was inspired by an old cartoon Echo Dog
I really lik-ik-ik-ik-iked it. (Somebody had to say it.) I love Billy Joel. Have you listened to Captain Jack yet?
James listen to that classic by him
Hi Harri. React to Hi Ren please. =)
Kanye west - Mama’s boyfriend !! He samples this song and the shit is great!!!
This was originally a reggae song, but the band didn't like the idea. The result is a compromise
