@ Jonathan Kengsbury. I've lived in North Carolina all of my life and I can't tell you what any of our Governor's did for us. I'm glad that in Massachusetts they give you guys access to that information and I'm impressed that you've taken time out of your life to view it for yourself.
Romney was, for Massachusetts, what Palin was for Alaska - a complete disaster! As an Alaskan who warned people about the dangers of putting Palin in an even higher office, I appreciate Massachusetts' warning the rest of us about the dangers of putting Romney in an even higher office..... Massachusetts has never been in debt because it is required by law to balance its budget every year, Romney did it by gutting education, gutting aid to cities and towns, raising tuition at state schools, raising fees for services. Patrick has grown business in this state, we have more construction on going than any other state, a low unemployment rate, ranked 6th in the country for business competitiveness, & we have some of the best public schools IN THE WORLD. I'd say SUCCESS Mr. Patrick.
Democrats desperately need a president with a strong personality, audacious and great oratory skills. Deval Patrick gives me hope that the DNC will one day nominate a president like him.
And please remember, Mitt is from Michigan, not Massachusetts. He was a total carpetbagger. When he was running for the Senate against Ted Kennedy he said he'd been all across MA, from Boston to Worcester. Worcester is in the middle of the state. The audience laughed at him.
I've lived in Massachusetts my whole life too pal. And Romney owes what little success he had to an overwhelmingly Democratic legislature. Part of controlling the budget in MA involved closing corporate tax loopholes and raising fees. But then Romney passed the buck to towns to bear fiscal burdens they couldn't handle, and it was a catastrophe; my town was certainly hit hard when the state pulled funding for education. But hey, rainy day fund, right?
Fantastic speech, glad he's my governor. My only criticism: any Massachusetts figure should use "Dirty Water" by the Standells as intro music and conclude every speech with "Yankees Suck". No really, it's very popular here.
I'd love to see him in the VP spot with Clinton. The only thing I disliked about this speech is that a lot of it was reused from the state convention. Otherwise, an amazing speech. (Well, it's still an amazing speech even with that in mind).
