I am proud of the Castro's. Amazing! Their Mother, a Mexican native went from paycheck to paycheck to afford putting her son's through college! Next Presidents!
Same. I visited San Antonio and LOVED it. I had a better time there than where I live in Austin. They are very different cities but I think San Antonio has a very special energy and it's underrated. And everyone is so nice!
Yeah in my opinion this guy is a better public speaker than Cory Booker. Cory Booker talks to fast and is too animated. That's what Millenials want though. This guy speaks more like Obama.
Fat American yeah I think a major issue with Booker too is that his personal life will become an issue... He will need to address rumors of him being gay if he runs for president, he's been reported to have a girlfriend....it shouldn't be an issue but many ignorant people will make a big deal out of it
He said he might end up running for President in 2020 but he hasn’t made a decision yet and I’m really hoping he does end up running because this man is just amazing 🙌🏽 #JulianCastroforpresident2020
Julian Castro will never be mayor he will however be convicted for the crimes that he's committed the collusion the cohesion the obstruction of justice the fact that the man took an oath to uphold the Constitution of the United States and him and his brother manipulate the system and break laws damning the Constitution of the United States
+Heather Eller He's as well spoken as a well scripted Sarah Palin, and about as intelligent as a box of rocks. Hillary should pick another running mate. Jesus Christ! This guy would suck BBC in a debate!
Guino Tack Palin? Uh.....LOL, he can talk and walk at the same time and can read. Sarah doesn't even know what papers she reads and always sounds like she is drunk. Well, let us put it this way, we will just have to agree to disagree. I like him and I have seen him in other arenas to be well spoken and can actually answer questions. So anyways, you have a great night. I like Castro, and I respect you if you don't like him. So I do have a question, if you don't like him why are you watching this video?
+Heather Eller I watched this speech live in 2012, and I remember how unimpressed I was. I just had to double check. I still think there are better options out there. It seems like they were grooming him back then. PS if you watch CNN's recent video about his possible vp nomination, you might understand what I'm talking about.
I'm sorry he will not be the president in 2016. I would like to see him as president but he doesn't have enough experience. He has only been the mayor of a town. He should run for the senate before 2016 and then in 2020 I see him being accepted as experienced enough
When you play in the white political machine, you hide your accent intentionally on certain occasions, and use it on others. It isn't "being fake", it is "being smart".
he has done so much for san antonio. changing our reputation as the fattest city and we are one of the only cities who has jobs right now.he makes it happen and is the real deal. castro 2016
The first time I ever heard Barack Obama speak I will never forget. I sat on the end of my bed in my cabin in the woods and cried as I listened to the black guy with the funny name and big ears give the most moving political speech I had ever heard! He was THE KEYNOTE SPEAKER AT THE 2004 DNC. The next day at the hospital where I worked EVERYONE was saying...there is our first African American President....four years later...he won...let's keep him another 4 then put Castro in office!
Sec. Clinton has to pick Sec. Castro as her vice presidential candidate. He is young, smart, inspirational and dedicated. He can bring home the Latinx vote in huge numbers, not just because he is latino, but because of his record of ensuring equal opportunity for the Latinx community and all Americans. We'll find out Friday!
His only problem is his youth, but once he is ready, not necessarily in 2016, he looks like quite possibly the first Hispanic president, as long as he doesn't screw up and have some kind of scandal.
People getting pissy about Castro speaking in Spanish is nauseating. While most Americans speak English, plenty of people know other languages as well. America should embrace a bit of the diversity that makes this country truly something special. We're not "the melting pot" because we're all the same. 99% of his speech was in English. He was just honoring his family. Get over it.
I don't know about anybody else. but I definitely see another Democratic Presidential Candidate. We definitely should keep our eyes on this guy right here.....
I loved the theme of investing in opportunity throughout the speech. We've spent over a decade focusing all our resources in foreign countries playing our nation-building game. It's about time we spend some resources on nation-building for America.
I'm mexican too, and I just fail to see his "switch" between american and mexican accents, he just said his name properly, how it should be said in spanish, I do the same with mine.. I'm not suddenly going to start saying ONE rather than Juan which is how many americans pronounce my name, the claim that he is faking it is ridiculous.
The way he engaged the crowd, used humor, and made his point was a sparkling brilliance I haven't seen before--amazing! Democrats are going to win the presidential race again.
I would love that, that would be the best ticket ever!! But it's more likely going to be Clinton/Castro. The DNC is totally setting him up to be a running mate regardless, so excited!!
San Antonio is proud city and we are so proud to have you represent our city and our culture thank you so much for moving and inspiring speech! GO JULIAN!!
Speaking of hate, Castro's mother said: “They used to take us there [the Alamo] when we were schoolchildren....They told us how glorious that battle was. When I grew up I learned that the ‘heroes’ of the Alamo were a bunch of drunks and crooks and slaveholding imperialists who conquered land that didn’t belong to them. But as a little girl I got the message - we were losers. I can truly say that I hate that place and everything it stands for.”
The Hammer Bowl could be produced and aired on AFRTS/AFN Television for the Mothers and Fathers of players, cheer staff, and student body of the two schools, in the US military who are deployed world-wide. The potential of a PEG funded Community Access Television channel in Converse, Texas would make this possible. very polite, says thank you a lot this is part of my h/w and at first i was like oh great, i have to hear a boring speech, but now i'm glad he gave us this assgiment. thank you mr.buzzle da wink;)
Great speech julian. As a latino im proud that you represented the first latino to do the keynote speech. Go Obama! and i enjoyed you telling matt romney that he has had it way too good.
Is that an assumption I don't know Spanish? I love the many variations of the language and greatly enjoy learning about cultures where that language is the primary one. Spanish was my second major in college. It's a shame everyone doesn't share the passion I do for diversity.
I love this guy's chances in 2016. I already see Hispanics coming out in FUCKING FORCE for this guy...and he is from TEXAS! Making the Republicans waste time campaigning in a state that is basically their party's heart in the EC? Politically brilliant opportunity for the Democrats.
The audience at the DNC looks quite diverse, as opposed to the RNC where the crowd looks like the audience at a Nickleback concert.
I am proud of the Castro's.
Amazing!
Their Mother, a Mexican native went from paycheck to paycheck to afford putting her son's through college!
Next Presidents!
Hell no
Didn't make me cry, but I was really moved. Julian is going places. He's got my vote.
mellx453 mine too!!
Same. I visited San Antonio and LOVED it. I had a better time there than where I live in Austin. They are very different cities but I think San Antonio has a very special energy and it's underrated. And everyone is so nice!
Definetely everything starts with education. Education is prosperity for tomorrow.
Let's Do This!!! #2020 I've been waiting on him since this moment!!
Yes
Forget VP this man needs to be President! Castro 2020!
Yeah in my opinion this guy is a better public speaker than Cory Booker. Cory Booker talks to fast and is too animated. That's what Millenials want though. This guy speaks more like Obama.
Fat American this guy will run and $100 says the GOP will use scare tactics and say he's a communist because his last name is Castro lol
Fat American yeah I think a major issue with Booker too is that his personal life will become an issue... He will need to address rumors of him being gay if he runs for president, he's been reported to have a girlfriend....it shouldn't be an issue but many ignorant people will make a big deal out of it
Simone Mackey I would love a Castro-Gillibrand ticket
Tulsi-Castro
His speech writer did a tremendous job and his timing is impeccable.
I cry because I too share a similar story and while I am only a freshmen in college I hope to serve my community until I die!
With a good speech writer, this guy could go far.
uhhhh, because he's Mexican??? you sound a bit butt hurt. He said more powerful things in Spanish than Romney can conjure up in English.
That young man has potential! And he has a twin. There's two. Wow!
Ladies and gentlemen: the next Vice President of the United States.
Yes, that's just what we need, a far left lunatic with a mom who hates whites and is a member of the National Council of La Raza.
He said he might end up running for President in 2020 but he hasn’t made a decision yet and I’m really hoping he does end up running because this man is just amazing 🙌🏽 #JulianCastroforpresident2020
He is indeed a winner! Good job Mr.Castro. Looking forward to more from you!
Then he'd be the youngest President!
What an inspirational speech!! Mayor Julián Castro is the first Mexican-American to deliver a keynote address at a DNC. Sí, se puede! Yes, we can!
Amazing speech...Made me remember what I was raised to hope for...
Rubio will be the first Hispanic president, since he is running for the 2016 nomination.
That was one heck of a speech. Moving, touching, goose bumping. Que viva los latinos. Obama 2012.
That's Hillary's Vice President right there!
What a inspiring story! One day Julian will be president!
Julian Castro will never be mayor he will however be convicted for the crimes that he's committed the collusion the cohesion the obstruction of justice the fact that the man took an oath to uphold the Constitution of the United States and him and his brother manipulate the system and break laws damning the Constitution of the United States

Dawn Neering fake news u r
This man is so well spoken and intelligent. I want to see him as V.P. in 2016.
Really?
Guino Tack, Yes Really! :)
+Heather Eller He's as well spoken as a well scripted Sarah Palin, and about as intelligent as a box of rocks. Hillary should pick another running mate. Jesus Christ! This guy would suck BBC in a debate!

People forget the struggle to get here. We just take it for granted.
CASTRO!! That name says it all.
amazing
I found my new hero
what i like most about castro is that look on his face. he looks so happy to just be there
Every morning before he went to school his mother would whisper, "God bless you", in his ear. Wow! God bless us all. Only in America.
This guy killed it ... went to the same high school as did !
Just like Obama made a speech at the convention in 2004...and later became president.
Great speech! Inspirational!
"So instead of a Mop, I could hold this microphone." damn...
Pretty inspiring...
U the Man !!
Julian and his bro have to pull the ol' switch-a-roo at least ONCE while he's in office...Just ONCE.
EXCELLENT!!! Rising Star!
I'm sorry he will not be the president in 2016. I would like to see him as president but he doesn't have enough experience. He has only been the mayor of a town. He should run for the senate before 2016 and then in 2020 I see him being accepted as experienced enough
Great speech.
When he said opportunity isn't free he hit the nail on the head!
"Looser"? Looks like Mayor Castro is right. We REALLY need to invest in education.
When you play in the white political machine, you hide your accent intentionally on certain occasions, and use it on others. It isn't "being fake", it is "being smart".
he has done so much for san antonio. changing our reputation as the fattest city and we are one of the only cities who has jobs right now.he makes it happen and is the real deal.
castro 2016
is he mexican-american?
Yes and he does not speak Spanish he did a interview with jorge ramos in English
He does. He’s now running for president and does so throughout his campaign.
Lee Chong Wei Crazyhead that was his twin brother that was running for president last year
Americans, not Mexicans! Let's stop calling Americans by the nationalities of their ancestors, please. It's divisive.
The first time I ever heard Barack Obama speak I will never forget. love
Another inspirational Democrat. He should be on the very short list for VP in 2016.
AWESOME SPEECH!!!
This dude is beasting all over this
Vice President 2016 with Hillary Clinton as President!
that would be a powerful combo.
Killery is not well and could never make it through a term lol.
If you didn't cry a little during this, you don't know how good you had it.
"Opportunity today,prosperity tomorrow."
Beautiful response. So true!
I hear you and agree 1000 % with you !
Castro looks like the Mexican guy who cleans my cesspool.
His only problem is his youth, but once he is ready, not necessarily in 2016, he looks like quite possibly the first Hispanic president, as long as he doesn't screw up and have some kind of scandal.
Great speech!!!

Could you provide credible citations for where you got all those statistics?. I would love to see them. Thank you.
bless
AWESOME!!! :)
2020*
I don't know about anybody else. but I definitely see another Democratic Presidential Candidate. We definitely should keep our eyes on this guy right here.....
"Instead of a mop, I could hold this microphone."
God bless you, Julian Castro!
You are an inspiration!
Well said and I completely agree.
I loved the theme of investing in opportunity throughout the speech. We've spent over a decade focusing all our resources in foreign countries playing our nation-building game. It's about time we spend some resources on nation-building for America.

That was SO well played with the health care swap out.
The way he engaged the crowd, used humor, and made his point was a sparkling brilliance I haven't seen before--amazing! Democrats are going to win the presidential race again.
Do it for the people, Julian. Para la gente!
Damn good speech -didn't elicit quite the same heartrending reaction that Barack Obama's 2004 speech did, but it came close.
If you've ever had a serving of Shrimp have fun going to the same place.
Amen to that!
"you can't be pro-business unless you are pro-education"
WELL SAID!
Vice President 2016 with Liz Warren as President.
I would love that, that would be the best ticket ever!!
But it's more likely going to be Clinton/Castro. The DNC is totally setting him up to be a running mate regardless, so excited!!
I seriously doubt it!
james kelley Yes, more of the same failed policies and radical leftist agenda as Obama!!
Nice discussion about Romney's plan for education. His speech started off a bit stiff, but once he warmed up, I was really impressed.
I absolutely cannot wait to watch this man become president someday.
San Antonio is proud city and we are so proud to have you represent our city and our culture thank you so much for moving and inspiring speech! GO JULIAN!!
As a San Antonian...i have never been more proud to be one!!! Viva la raza
Exactly correct!
He makes San Antonio so very, very proud.

This guy's got a future, no doubt about it. Cheers San Antonio, from Austin.
Julian Castro is an up and commer. Look out Republicans, Julian has got what it takes! FORWARD!
I am from Texas and I love this man and what he stands for. I am white,my wife is Hispanic. And he makes a lot of sense!
I LOVE him!!!
I'm really proud to see the mayor of my town give a speech at the DNC. He's proving that it is possible to get far. =3
GREAT ENERGY > GREAT SPEECH > VERY REAL!!!
Thank You ~ from: AGracefulQuantumLeap
very polite, says thank you a lot
this is part of my h/w and at first i was like oh great, i have to hear a boring speech, but now i'm glad he gave us this assgiment. thank you mr.buzzle da wink;)
this man is the BEST !
Great speech....proud South Texan
Great speech julian. As a latino im proud that you represented the first latino to do the keynote speech. Go Obama! and i enjoyed you telling matt romney that he has had it way too good.

Not sure if he'll be ready by 2016, but he definitely has a bright future.
He will be the next Governor of Texas, and VP choice. He will turn Texas to a blue state.
I love this guy's chances in 2016. I already see Hispanics coming out in FUCKING FORCE for this guy...and he is from TEXAS! Making the Republicans waste time campaigning in a state that is basically their party's heart in the EC? Politically brilliant opportunity for the Democrats.
