OFF MAIN ST. Episode One | THUNDERCAT (Stephen Bruner featuring Kamasi Washington) Live at The Echo in L.A. California April 16, 2013 Copyright: offmainst.com
I’ll be listening to some random ass music and then just think of this performance and get goosebumps i watched this video like 50 times in the past month
This spectacular blend of soul and jazz that Thundercat, Kamasi and every guy who plays in the band do is a voyage to Jupiter...with tickets to come back! Like Cannonball Adderley and Miles davis and the West Coast Jazz, I call this sound the Avenues Sound. So cosmopolitan, with some feeling from roads surrounded by green fields. Even when I play my music on bass I feel that way.
Woooow man, it's just...hahaha I closed my eyes and was like, in a Nirvana mind vibe in a green field with tall trees sparsely placed here and there, and birds and the nice Sun bringing such a magnificence which is for me the essence of Peace & Love...like they used to say in Woodstock and the Summer of Love...and real and fantasy reminiscences were all in my mind as one, and Happiness is all I felt. Thundercat simply transcends it all; again DAYLIGHT his super bass showcase, with him and Kamasi displaying beautiful flurries of notes and which are so soothing...the next tune well I mean...like, hard bop, soul, or free melodic music and that's all? Sure Thundercat created a really totally new style in music. Others are exceptional players, but he is far beyond them all. Total freedom of spirit, I guess. He's tremendous!
+niceguyvillain the guy has only uploaded what was available, if the cinematographers had included footage of the entire gig in their documentary i'm sure @panchoquai would have included them in this upload.
I think listening is probably a good thing to start with. The ears are good for that, you all use your eyes, I find they are not quit as good. but that is just me....
It's like his notes don't make sense yet they make perfect sense it's like he has brought peace from chaos I hope this doesn't sound like a disrespectful comment it's supposed to be a compliment
Maybe I could take on the name "OLD cat" You are very young but a GREATcat You are always playing "THEsong". You may not be the quote bass players' bass player. The way you stick to the song makes you my kind of bass player. I realize many bass players my age may be offended by your musicality as a bassist as if it's some sort of crime now to be so young and so great, so innovative, yet so traditional. So impossible. 'Twas impossible to conceive for all who pulled out early. Some squirrels will never get their own nut and will always be a starving speck tater. "Woodshed?" is an action, place, state of mind forever focused on things presently impossible without perseverance, I think.
That Kamasi Washington solo though!!!!!!!!!!!!
Straight FIRE, The intense growling is amazing
@@myascott155 He is a BEAST!!!
@@nadominhoca overrated
That first sax solo by Kamasi is of COLTRANE level.
Dude listen from 7:44 to 8:34 and tell me this man is not a genius. Dopest groove line I've ever heard in my life. Historic
Very Jaco. Love it.
lotus and the jondy
The harmony too. It sounds ominous and unsettled just like the lyrics for the song.
reminds of of jaco or manring
He’s not a genius. But he is pretty damn amazing.
Kamasi gives me goosebumps
Amen brother! Me too!
13:40 thundercat enjoying what he's playing
Probably one of the better live performances I’ve seen on CZcams from Thundercat ... give him a full accompaniment and it’s pure gold
Indeed! This one and the BBC Concert are REALLY good!
The good Thundercat days prior to his shift to a more groovy sound...
Kamasi's solo on the first song is brutal!! What a beast!!
The mix on this thing is perfect, this is the ideal video of Thundercat live.
he da man
Somewhere, SOMEWHERE, the full audio to this concert exists, AND I WANT IT!!! LOL
Those kind of music give me the feeling of living in a perfect future.
I wish footage of the full gig was released :(
ahh I haven't listened to thundercat in a week. Feels like coming home :D
Drummer: My live rig requires two kits
Thundercat: Mine requires three
I wish I can see him live one day
you can, he is touring the states, tix are usually 20 - 40 bucks at smaller venues.

The video is edited in a way that cuts off thundercat when he's improvising, that's just awful!
It is what it is... Sorry pal
Did you do the editing for this video?
+niceguyvillain video is part of an interview with images of the show, this is the musical extract
Anyways, no need to apologise as I'm sure you had your reasons for editing it the way you did. You can't please everyone
