Fantastic to hear that Europe isn’t just changing sources, it’s increasingly sourcing it from its own territory. More European self reliance is a massive success
It always has, even Russia said "Europe is the same as us", that's when they became friends with Europe due to sharing similar lands, now they don't care and classified Europe as an enemy with U.S being enemy No.1!

it's an unsustainable temporary measure, but one that will bridge the gap to longer term solutions (LNG mostly)
@@fcsoldeu5338exactly.
All American and European Leaders that enabled Putin are covered in blood.
Most people I know also turned heating down a few notches and made efforts to save energy. Small fry for a household but it also sums up to reduce demand.
With the prices going up they make the decision to save energy for you.
Not to mention how crazy warm the first bits of winter was, really put a dent in demand for a bit.
No options here, the only option is to pay huge bills which most can't afford

I think the most impressive thing is how the European Union filled their gas reserves in a short period of time. For two winters. Nothing less than impressive
First covid, now Russia. United we are strong. 💪
last winter it got filled by RUSSIA, until someone most likely Norway and Poland blew the pipeline up to take over German business. Germany is systematically destroyed.
Where can I find information on the gas reserves being full for this upcoming winter?

Big thanks to Norway, Belgium and the Netherlands for helping us out this much. Hopefully we can successfully transition the gas infrastructure to support hydrogen transport in the near future. The coal usage is a bummer, though sadly necessary to compensate for the energy loss overall. Hopefully we can speed up renewables quickly. Only time will tell.

And if it turns out to be true, then a next Winter with exploding prices for heating or even freezing people will certainly flip the political landscape of Germany to the far right. That far right, which still propagates that Russia is a good friend (probably with lots of financial backing from exactly that direction).
Keep in mind, that 3 or 4 federal states will have elections where that far right is already polling in the first place.

Wouldn’t it be great if wind, solar, and nuclear took the place of natural gas.
it would be awsome
It is happening although not as fast as we should wish for. There are four factors that slow it down.
+ Resistance from the big fossil fuel corporations. They are huge and powerful and are fighting teeth and claw to keep their market shares.
+ The "Not In My Backyard" attitude. Even people who are generally positive to sustainable energy don't want a nuclear power plant or a windmill farm anywhere near their own homes.
+ Investment costs. Sustainable energy is generally cheaper than fossil fuel in the long run now and price gap between the two is growing. But building brand new power plants of any kind still costs money. I did some rough calculations and if they are in the right ballpark we're talking about an investment as high as 5-10% of Europe's total annual GDP. Spread out over ten years it's doable, 20 years no problem. But all of it in one go, no chance!
+ Manufacturing capacity. We need factories to build the parts, we need highly skilled expert workers to install the equipment etc., etc. We do not have unlimited capacity here.
Germany did invest heavily in solar - but then ended the subsidy program that was leading to such rapid deployment. They also made one huge mistake: They moved away from nuclear, in response to public fear. The schedule was accelerated following the Fukushima incident.
They're doing great on wind, but there's always room for more turbines!
Way to go, Germany. :)
There is another side of the coin, the LNG prices are not cheap as russian gas, thus a lot of industries struggling with prices. Germany is not competitive anymore.
This article is utterly ridiculous as Russian lng is coming into the eu via Spain and belguim

@karensvej wishes... 🤣🤣🤣
Yup the only cheap gas is pipeline gas, without it competitiveness is lost
@@user-tt6il2up4o
Can you prove that Sergei, or is it just another line in your troll-script?
Meanwhile in The Netherlands we're paying 3 to over 6 (!) times the price gas used to cost before the war. Gas fields are being closed and generators for electricity have closed. Electricity has doubled in price, and surplus generated solar power must be payed for to the energy companies. Great work ya'll.
that's the plan... no more energy!
Way to go and don't forget to clap your hands, slava ukraine 😀😀😀
Appeasing agressor costs way more. Think occupation of Czechoslovakia (1938), now by country with nules.
Lets give the Netherlands to Russia instead of Ukraine, problem solved.... 🤪
Continue supporting Ukraine it will be even more funny.
Would be nice to know how much more has it cost Germany for its gas supply? That is the critical question.
Less than the cost of subservience and blackmail…
@@JG-mp5nb That is a lot of unsubstantiated claims!
Where does the Netherlands and Belgium get their gas from?
Nice move, now Germany Manufacturing PMI was confirmed at 39.1 in August 2023, marking the second-lowest reading since May 2020 and still firmly within the sub-50 contraction territory.
This is good, Europe should be more self sustainable in every way
Agora não tem mais colônia na África e América para sustentar a Europa.
Finally. Well done, Europe!
They still buy RUSSIAN GAS, via Spain and Belgium.
Impressive. Good work
Germany made Putin the man he is today.
Impressively misleading by DW lmao
So why can't you tell us the state of German companies. 😅
Why don't you?
The state? There are German companies in all 16 states.
@@migpinx what I mean; How is the business and creativity of German companies are going?
Good. But we now have to completely remove ourselves from relying on fossil fuels.
You need to stop using them NOW!
so how much does it cost?
Look at them clowns celebrating Germany's deindustrialisation.
Putin’s friend detected
deindustrialisation is not happening.
How is it deindustrialization? Anything Germany have been making more profits this year, last year they were on the brink of another recession, I would congratulate them for keeping the worlds economy in balance, after all, they fail then the supply chain fails, plus, didn't I recall that Russia asked Germany for parts to repair a turbine for energy supplies?? Odd that people ripping into Germany when they hold the centre fold of trading between Europe and Asia!
@@capastianluna8896It's not rocket science. Without cheap energy supply you can't have competitive economy. Businesses will either start going bankrupt or be moving to greener pastures. No ifs or buts about it.
@@petepotr4078Who is your friend?
I guess Germany didn't laugh so much after
Hard times but inevitable😊
@@bonito34 german just started depens on america gas and its i 3 times more expensive
Germany: no longer rely on Russian gas.
Also Germany: lights sticks to heat stove.
What is the price
Around 30 EUR per MW. Peanuts...
Important is energy, food, minerals and people. We Europeans are slowly getting out of competition. The real problem is not if Germany in particular and Europe generally are getting independent from Russian supplies but if they are impotent customers for Russia.
Trash talk. Think before you write nonsense
Very impressive and decisive
move by Germany, once it was evident what needed to be done.
Few had the confidence that Germany, in partnership with like minded allies initiated a series of actions successfully, something Russia miscalculated upon-just as Russia miscalculated the consequences of her aggression against Ukraine.
Now show us the budget?
Germany showed greater agility than most people would have expected. Hopefully, the same agility will enable them to continue increasing the share of renewable energy. Bavaria should drop their resistance to wind energy, for example, especially the prohibitive "distance rule" (Abstandsgebot).
Germans know how to get things done. I worked for a German company for 2 years here in the US. If we had their efficiency we'd have a Hilton on Mars by now.
Germans don’t care about holidays on Mars.
Does that make sense though?
Germans do have German efficience.
And there is no Steigenberger Hotel on Mars so far..
Maybe when a hotel is built on mars Elon will stay there. For good.
@@ProctorsGamble Now you’ve got my interest. 😏
