Go for it! I'm a licensed nail tech and work on men's nails. I suggest you start with a gentleman's manicure. Once you've been to the salon you'll feel more comfortable. There is nothing wrong, in fact many people prefer, someone with well groomed hair, nails and skin. It shows that you care about yourself. Whether it's a manicure or enhancements, do what makes you happy :-)
David Campbell As a woman, I prefer men's natural nails (as long as they're short, I have a thing about men with long natural nails) but I would be goddamned if I'd tell my husband not to go get some acrylics at the salon if that's what he wanted- you do you! The nail techs won't judge, my sister is one & she works on men all the time, they don't care :) Go for it!

Im not a male but I used to do autoshop work and I got acrylics to keep my nails from breaking and tearing. they helped so much!

YEAR LATER UPDATE: hey y’all. this was my problem last year, but i started using rescue rX nail stuff i got and it’s awesome, also with online school they don’t break. my nails are now always super long and healthy and don’t break that often. :)

I bite my nails but I also bite the skin around them A LOT. Like the skin around the nail is raised because of scar tissue I think. And yes, it DOES hurt when I bite the skin. I never really let them heal because when I see its healing the skin is rough and I think “oh no I want smooth skin” so logically I bite it right off 😫

Seeing a male getting short acrylics is sort of comforting I recently have really gotten into nail technician stuff and I absolutely love suzie!!! My best girl friend Sophie has been really encouraging of expressing my newfound passion and took me with her last time she got a fill to get my natural nails painted with gels. I did and I absolutely love them but now she’s saying I should get really short acrylics and I’ve been iffy seeing this though really helped!

*sigh* I wish I could stop biting my nails and have really cute nails like everyone else but I have Anxiety and biting my nails seems to be a reliever and sometimes I don't even know I'm biting my nails lol but I love what you have done to his nails.
i used to bite my nails until highschool, and like you mentioned i didn't even notice doing it when i was stressed like on tests. i tried the clear bitter nail polish but it didn't make me stop either. then i had enough of them being ugly and asked my mom to take me to get a manicure. i tried very hard not to bite them for a week before the appointment and when i saw how nice they looked polished and taken care of, i never bit them again. it wasn't acrilic or gel nails, just simple polish but maybe this tip can help you.

Try just painting one nail at first, and tell yourself you can’t bite any nail that is painted. Then each week after paint anther nail, until you have all ten painted. I hope this helps

I finally quit the first time for a year when those nail polishes came out with the big chunks of glitter in them, It's still a struggle, I basically had to start getting them professionally every week and then every other week and keep a file and cuticle scissors in my purse, car, everywhere, and I used a silicone bite necklace from Ark Therapeutic.

I bit my nails for years. When I finally broke the habit I decided to keep my nails up as best as I could. A nice shape and clear coat go a long way. I'm asked all the time who does them. Makes me smile.

As a guy who is into beauty and stuff I want to say thank you!
Yaaas! Few are aware that the best in the business whether it is makeup, hair, fashion or nails are men. I am a man who is also a MUA, and a hairdresser. And I started getting long acrylic claws since last year. Funny tho because the 1st time I walk in there is confusion whether I am a client or waiting for a friend lol. Now I switched places to a better salon where the ones who does my nails are a guy as well. He is a perfectionist like me so always fab nails! Some women hate on us. Why I dunno. Maybe they feel threatened by men doing the same and looking fab while doing it. "we won't be free until we are all free". Equality for all: the LGBT and Afro American community, women, and the different minorities. Women tend to forget it wasn't that long ago they could only wear dresses and skirts, and having a career outside the home as well as voting was unheard off. I still get some ugly stares by fellow clients, but most people are prob just curious or in shock.

It's incredible how different you see things when you are a nail tech I remember watching this video 4 years ago and thinking that these nails were awesome but my perspective is completely different now. AND OMG she has gotten so good since this video, she has improved her techniques so much it's awesome how you keep on learning even when you already know so much

So, technical + artistry + people ... applies to funeral directors and many chosen careers, including what Suzie does! I watch just for kicks. OMG YES! Guys a tip to stop biting your nails is to really just not do it. Force yourself not to as much as you want to, and if you feel the urge to bite them slap your hand. Literally. I haven't chewed my nails for 5 weeks they look so much better! It's better to stop biting in the long run c:

I know this is a little out of the blue, but I've been biting my nails since I was about 8. I watched this video and another one you made, and they taught me a lot about how to help shape my nails and care for my fingers in ways to help curve the cravings to chomp on my nails and corners. I never get my nails professionally done because with the work I do, they'll break a lot and I barely have the money to do it once let alone twice a month. I'm really happy to say I've gone a year without biting my nails or skin at all. The ring fingers still has some lifted skin on the corners but otherwise my nails look normal for the first time... ever? Feels like it. That journey started with this video and I hunted it down to comment and say thank you so much for taking the time to make a video and talk about shaping a nail and filing away from corners. Seriously, thank you! ❤️
Omg not a lot of nail salons don't do this. Im a nail bitter since i was little, and i try to let my nails grow by getting gel acrylic. The nails last less then a week and a half. I then get anxious and try to take them all off because one of them fell off. I am proud to say when i have the acrylic on my nails they tend to grow, but once i see how uneven and sharpe they are i go right into bitting them down again. It would make life easier for us nail bitters to have nail salons that actually know how to do really short nails with or without tips. Thanks to watching your video i will now try to ween my self off of my habit of biting my nails. Or ill try to attempt diy nails with the guidelines you gave. 😊💅🎓
Honey Lynch my nails are so short, sometimes it looks like I have no nails so the other day I started watching videos on how to keep nails healthy and longer and I watch videos to see how other people broke their habit of biting their nails and I’m gonna try to stop biting my nails because I have been biting my nails for as long as I can remember and I’m 16 so It’s been a long time
I am a nail bitter my nails are so short that any salon want do my nails 😂, I start using some press on nails and help me a lot, but now I can't take then off(I sorry for my English I am Brazilian❤)
Put like lemon juice on your nails so u don’t want to bite or even put your fingers in your mouth.

Bahareh R Instead of lemon juice, try “Mavala”. It comes in a bottle like nail polish and apply it as such. It is so awful to taste but helpful to curb a thumb sucking or nail biting habit.
I used to bite my nails too. Then I sat down and thought about it, and realized - my hands a good number of times weren't washed before I started biting. And then I started thinking about everything I touched beforehand, and everything that could have touched the things I touched before me.
I haven't bit them in years. That train of thought makes it really easy to quit when you have a kid and pets in your house.

Habits take a minimum of 21 days to break - don't give up! Even if what I did doesn't work for you, there are so many options. Just be persistent on what you do, and eventually you'll break it!
In fact, some people's habits are so ingrained, it can take up to 254 days to break. The average is 66 days.
Just deal with it one day at a time, and use your failures as a learning experience.
I do it without noticing, so I can't really stop myself much
I'm a nail bitter, and i started getting acrylics over a year ago. I get my nails done every 2 to 3 weeks now, I love acrylics

My nails are awful. Constant anxiety causes me to bite them. Acrylics have definitely reduced nails biting
Corona has shut down all our nail studios at the beginning of December. I lasted till after Xmas, now I'm back to where I was 8 or so years ago. Nail lenghts nearly as bad as Grant. :/ I sincerely hope, I can do them myself and am learning to do the perfect beads right now. Your video is great, Suzie. It shows ALL the steps including you dipping the brush and fixing the beads. I also love the conversation that loosens up the serious issue. Thanks!
You two are so adorable! I was able to break my nail biting habit by using acrylic nails years ago. The only drawback was all the money I spent on nail polish and nail art supplies because I'd never had such pretty and strong nails before!

Congratulations! I started getting my nails done to keep me from biting my nails too. I ended up biting through the acrylic.

Liane Lonsdale I didn't say there was anything wrong with them.. I mean I used to bite my nails too & all those years I never was happy with the way that it looked.. I am sure that others' that bite/used to bite their nails feel/felt the sameor felt similarly about it. It was a hard habit to break but it was possible & I am not ashamed of the way that they look today.

There isn't many male models for nail art because woman are the ones that like that stuff and do it not men. Men are not into that type of stuff that's why it's mostly women. Why do you think women are dominant in one thing and men are dominant in another? Because different genders races sexuality's etc have there things that they lean more towards or have more of an interest in than other groups...and there is nothing wrong with that.
