I wouldn't say never. Warner bros has got to know what a big IP they have with DC. Kill the justice league flopped but people are STILL talking about it. If they don't try making more games with the DC license, they would be stupid. And if this movie is successful, then why wouldn't they make a superman game?
In the meantime, at least we have fighting games with supes and some of his supporting cast/villians

The new logo looks like the no "whatever" allowed, but for superman
I loved Man of Steel. I'm very cautious regarding this new film. People's biggest complaint regarding The last Superman movie we got was the level of destruction caused by the villains (which I think was a stupid complaint) and having Superman kill Zod which that I completely understand why it would rub people the wrong way.
Agree, I loved MoS even though I thought the last act was a little bloated. So sad that BvS was such a let down and JL became the mess it did.
Yea I actaully freakin Love it too. It was probably one of Zack Snider's Best written movies imo... I think to have cool action scenes there really does need to be some huge Level Destruction in these Superman Fight Scenes.... Its the only way honestly...
What else could they really have done with Zod in that amount of destruction he was doing

The complaint wasn't the level of destruction. The complaint was that Superman frequently put human lives in danger just to defeat the villains... seemingly with no regard for their safety at all. You could chalk that up to his inexperience fighting high level threats, I don't have the time to go into that... But the fact remains that the only people he seems to care about once he becomes Superman are his mom and Lois. What could they have done? They could have tried to evacuate Metropolis through multiple means. Superman could have destroyed the device over Metropolis first, then gone and gotten the one over the ocean later. Instead of dragging Zod across town destroying a gas station in a fireball (and an ihop), he could have broken all of their helmets, thrown them back into their ship, and damaged the propulsion unit, and tossed it far into space. If that's not good enough, watch Red Letter Media laugh at how stupid that movie is in their review.
As for killing Zod, I'm not bothered by it... but the people could have moved towards and up the stairway while Zod was shooting his eye beams. There was enough time for them to escape. Superman could have used his frost breath on Zod's head. There's literally tons of other options, and that's why Man of Steel still sucks. The whole movie is full of stupid moments like that. If you hand wave everything as "just humans being dumb", then as far as i'm concerned you might as well drop all your standards for film, and just watch everything as popcorn entertainment because you really don't seem to care whether stories make sense or not.

Joe had to go outside to avoid being targeted by....some dark, mysterious forces
So as some people have pointed out, this sounds much like Bizarro's origin than Ultraman's. One thing that I think is worth noting is the fact that, much like with Gunn taking influence from the Fleischer cartoons, he's also taking influence from Superman The Animated Series. In that show, Bizarro started off as a perfect clone before slowly devolving into the Bizarro we know. I think what might happen is Luthor clones Superman and makes his own hero he calls Ultraman, only for that clone to deteriorate and become Bizarro. It would further push the idea that the evil Superman concept is a complete perversion of the idea of the hero.
It’s basically the Kingdom Come Superman logo. Would be interesting to see this be the origin of Kingdom Come and how it all leads to it.
They're not making Kingdome Come any time in the near or far future.
Aside from the fact that it's an Elseworlds story and Gunn was pretty categorical that his Superman is the main universe Supes, there's also the fact that Kingdom Come is a very dark story that this version of WB isn't likely to be interested in adapting anytime soon.
Especially after the Snyderverse and Man of Steel.
And if they did somehow make a Kingdom Come adaptation, you can almost guarantee that it will be a bastardized version of it and crappy adaptation with the intent of "Disney-fying" it to make it more palatable to family audiences.

Them old school Supes cartoons were some of my favorites as a kid. They hold up tremendously well

Ultimately, while we put so much emphasis on things like logos and suits, etc..., it all comes down to whether the films are actually good. If they are well-written, and the movies are good, we will have fond memories of whatever logos/suits they choose, and vice versa.

Nice to see you feeling happy and positive about this, especially after all the crap WB has treated Supes and the DCEU in recent years which got fans so upset. I remember watching your previous video on Gunn dropping Henry and how much despair you had, so I'm happy that you're feeling hopeful about this now - Supes deserves some proper respect and better treatment now! Btw Joe you got me into Superman, your enthusiasm and passion for him made me read up on so many comics that he has now become my favourite superhero too - so thank you for introducing me to him!
Reminds me somewhat of the old Jack Kirby style logo from the early-mid 70s. (Which I think was an inspiration for Alex Ross, being a big Kirby fan.). That's pretty neat.

I love the idea of a heroic and hopeful Superman defeating an evil version of himself, especially with all the "evil superman" we get in the media in recent years like Homelander, Omni-Man and Zach Snyder emo Superman.
In this era of social media, cynical world view and subversion. We need Superman to be a good guy and a hero
But they did this idea with the "Christopher Reeves" Superman movies. He fought himself in a junkyard.. was silly then, probably silly if they do it now.

eh, maybe in movie 2 or 3 or something. but if the first movie in new saga starts with lex who already knows all about supes and is angry at him and has developed a way to clone him it sounds a lot like how dceu tried to fast forward everything and failed. what i could see is lex trying to formulate a clone while trying to bully clark in other ways like his mechasuit, and towards the end supes wrecks the clone experiment but it reveals a disgusting tyrant monster anyway

I didn’t like it at first because it didn’t really look like an S. It looked more like a squiggly slash through the crest. But if they want to lean into the idea that it’s not really supposed to be an S but a symbol or family crest from Krypton, then yes, it does look like a symbol. From that perspective, I think it looks pretty good.

I think Ultraman will be James Gunns excuse for showing superman's (Ultramans) brutality of his victims with his powers with the same ammount of gore as Suicide Squad and Peacemaker, and have Superman eventually take down Ultramans wrath and use his powers for good.

It might be time to move somewhere with more shade
Hard to compete with the great logos that came before, but in all honesty the updated modern design looks decent. Not too minimal, not too flashy, a splash of retro... it's similar to what we're used to while being wholly new. I also really like the tapered off S end. It still has a slight tail but it's basically completely gone and it allows for more even red and yellow in the image. Interesting look at the very least.
