Much fun brings back memories for sure
I worked at the track then and the Stampede ended on Saturday night and by 7 am next day EVERYTHING was gone and heading for Edmonton
My hometown. She's changed a might.
Loved every minute of this, my childhood memories
I was 8 years old, living in Altadore back then. Can't believe more than half a century has passed.
The Band in the Gold and Orange was the Royal Cavaliers Youth Band from Van Nuys California.
Wow! The horses had MUCH bigger hooves back then!
I had almost forgotten about the great view one had of the entire race track from the Grand Stand, regardless where you sat, before the in field seats were added! That is why I haven't been going to the chuck wagon races any more! Sad! It's all about the money nowadays!
Good old year
it was 29c that day
It was a great place to go get a bag of pot in 70
Had to jump over some horse poop by the Capitol Theatre my first Stampede in 66. Didn't quite make it as the heel of cowboy boot skidded out. Yee haw.
Ah, the old Capitol ! Still had hitching posts on the sidewalk
