  • This is a KSPS (PBS) production, which they aired at 8:00 PM on March 12 1998. (Interviews were shot in 1997.)
    This chapter discusses The Buck Shot Show, a children's program Starring Ron Barge and Jim Lewis, which aired on CFCN (now CTV Calgary) from 1967 to 1997. From 1967 to 1992 it was a daily program, airing at noon. From 1992 to 1997 it aired Saturday and Sunday mornings. At the time of its cancellation it was the longest-running children's TV show in Canadian history. Other characters included Benny the Bear, Clyde the Owl, Heathcliff the Dragon (Jim Lewis), and Farley Frick From Maple Crik. (Ron Barge)
    Theme music for the series was "The Elephant Never Forgets", a version of Beethoven's "Turkish March" in 1967 by Perrey and Kingsley.

    I still remember the day our kindergarten class went to the show! Must of been 79'.. lol.. That show was the shit as kids. A happy memory :)

    I remember when there was only Benny the Bear on Buckshot and the early fans of the show were asked to send in suggestions of who should be Benny’s sidekick ... having “Benny & Clyde” became the winner! Not sure how an owl was selected as “Clyde”

    At 2:23 I think that me in the black and white pic…bottom right in front of Buck Shot himself. Not 100% sure but I think so. Does anyone know where one can look at or get archive info/pics? Great show to grow up with.
