- One of two videos recorded from a TV show in Japan promoting the 1987 touring production of Starlight Express. In this video, the actors playing Pearl and Rusty perform "Only You".
Actors:
Pearl - Nikki Belsher
Rusty - Bobby Collins
Starlight Express is property of Andrew Lloyd Webber/Really Useful Group.
Nikki is just adorable as Pearl! I love her!
This the best matchup of Rusty and Pearl, they’re both freaking adorable and their voices work so well together
Bobby Collins is my favourite Rusty, he's so cute!
They are super sweet together as Rusty and Pearl! Love this video!
I literally watch this everyday, my day isn't complete without watching it at least once.
来年、starlight expressがロンドンに帰ってきますね。1987年、1990年のように、また日本ツアーにも来てくれることを願っています。
A really great song performed extremely well by Nikki Belsher, I did like her interpretation of the role of Pearl. shame they dropped this song from the show, though its replacement "I do" is pretty good as well
She really did do a good job. It seems like out of most of the girls that sang that song in either version, she was more innocent and Pearl-like. I agree they should've kept it in, much like some of the other songs they've had.
@@CallMeRedon I'm interested in making a film adaptation of this musical one day. And if I do, I intend to put this song back in along with A Lotta Locomotion.
5:25 Bobby's head movements XD
This... This is the cutest shit I've seen. Ever.
yes
Great! I love this performance! Does existe more with bobby collins? I think he was the best rusty ever! I saw him playing 1989 in London... does anyone know what he ist doing now? Would be great if you can tell me!
I know, aren't they cute together? I know that there is at least one 1990 London audio recording with Bobby as Rusty, and then there's a video recording of the 1990 Japan tour, Starlight-wise... Haven't been able to get a hold of either of them (as much as I'd like to, since he's one of my favorites), as they've proven hard to find, but I know they exist at least. I'm not sure what he's doing now, tho..
I have the london cd recording so now i have to try getting the japanese...
I try on to find out what he's doing today...but it's not easy
+Peggy A few of the songs from the Japanese album are on here, but not all of them. (It's also a highlight album, so it's not the full song list...) Also have you found the 1990 Japan tour promo and clip video on here yet? One of the stunt skaters from that tour posted them several months back and are worth looking at..
Thanks..yes i found the japan tour clips...i should try to ask that skater if he knows something about Bobby..
+Peggy He might, but there's no telling if he'd reply or not, or if he stayed in contact with anyone from the tour. But if you want to, it's worth a shot!
Does a full bootleg of this tour exist?
I know the 1990 cast got copies of a performance recorded, but that's a bit of a gray area in trying to acquire it. (We can't really message one and say "Hey I really like that skating show you were in! Can I have the recording of it, pretty please?". I wish we could, but things aren't that easy. OTL) We do have Kenichiro Maeno's clip video on his channel, which is unfortunately the only proof of that recording existing.
Aside from that, I've heard a recording of the Japan half of the 1987 tour *might* exist (may possibly be a Japanese documentary for the first tour, we're not sure). That or a recording from the Australia half of the 1987 tour would be great, but either of those are arguably even more rare than a 1990 recording. We just have to keep our eyes peeled for anything!
I have a cast recording on vinyl from the 1988 Australian Cast
