The chaos ambush is actually part of a short story in the Sabbat worlds crusade anthology. The Chaos troops laid in the snow and most of them froze to death before the general arrived. Great story. 👍

Tanks for all the statistics on the armor involved. Bad jokes aside the Crusade really is paying a high price for assuming Chaos would not have a real navy. It was not a bad assumption but has lead to no end of horrible surprises for Slydo and friends.
at the very least they should have planned for strong naval resistance at the beginning of the war. later in the war after a few successful naval battles then it would be reasonable to assume the enemy has a weak navy

The failure of to inform the Guard about the winter is just so typical of the Imperium. Reminds me of an assaults that the Tanith have to do with barely any powerpacks cause someone sent them the wrong type for their lasguns.
So the at-70 is a Leo 1a5 or m60a3 to the rus being a m1a1 Abrams or Leo 2A4. With their super tank being a m60t.

You know, I'm starting to have some questions about Slaydo. He's trying to reconquer an entire sector held by the forces of Chaos, led by a warlord dangerous enough to unite them under his leadership. Why does Slaydo keep thinking this will be easy and getting upset when it isn't?
I think it might be how this crusade is very personal to him.
He is a zealot among zealots, so maybe he still underestimates Chaos due to his faith.
That and the pressure from his peers and superiors.
That's the best I can come up with.
I think it’s meant to be reminiscent of the German invasion of the Soviet Union. The whole, “We have only to kick in the door, and the whole rotten structure will come crashing down” mentality. Like Arch said at the beginning, the imperials still see him as just a jumped up raider. An intelligent raider perhaps, but not the head of a new chaos empire that he really is.

I wouldnt mind a compendium video on the various AFVs involved in in the Sabat Crusade that we haven’t seen otherwise. All the weird traitor tanks, APCs, or even expanded to xenos and their wargear.
Having a worse tank you can domestically produce is sometimes better than a higher quality one you have to ship in. Thanks for the video.

Did the chaos use rubber peni s as ammo in theire 105mm guns ? Must be the case, If they can' t pen the side of a tank?
The Slaaneshi tanks maybe 😂 but yeah, it's more than just shell diameter that affects effectiveness. Materials and propellent size also affect it. The 105s probably didn't have enough oompf behind them to get the round through the armor.
I mean today's modern tanks are vulnerable to 75 and 90mm ww2 guns from the side.
A 105 mm HE shell will liquify the tank crew if hit from the side, so an AP shell will penetrate it.
GW writers don't ballistics.
Just as GW modelers don't ammo storage capacity.
Although I like to imagine the latter is some DAoT trickery with bags of holding. Makes the supposed lack of understanding of things make more sense.
