- Due to a request by my lovely young niece Nicole, here is a video re-edit of CINDERELLA ROCKEFELLA by ESTHER & ABI OFARIM featuring the 1968 footage in London (directed by Reinhard Hauff). Although once broadcast on 1Plus this video has since always appeared incomplete with the intro and outro crudely omitted, therefore I decided to re-jig small sections of the video to make a complete video. Of course it's not 100% the exact original video but at least it's more watchable this way until the original full clip turns up ... although probably a very slim chance of that happening! I've also added stereo audio for improved listening pleasure! If you don't own the track already then please go and buy it on iTunes to support the artists

I passed by the Bank yesterday , and this song came to mind , so i just had to listen to it again . They were such a great duo , but Esther's voice , just incredible .
My Dad sang it to me as i was a little child and the best part was as he began to dance like him in this video! ...now i remember again...my Dad died two weeks ago...r.i.p
but do youhave understanding ofthe monumental scale of evil that family created, and contnuis? funding wars , on both sides to its own gain..?
@@stevenhopkins8093 huh?
U're Gil Ofarim sure?
This bought a smile to my face. Why cannot modern stuff do this? Where has it all gone wrong?
You got old

Immediate flashback to 50 years ago. Happy times.
I was 6 when this song came out and I loved it! Happy childhood memories hearing this. I thought she was so beautiful
Obscure, bizarre, delightful. I had this 45 when I was just a little kid. I always thought it was cool.
Victoria WildRose Bulli holliday
…and it went #1 in Britain!
I was 3 when this came out. I have never forgotten it. So catchy and well performed.
Dit maken ze tegenwoordig niet meer. Top muziek👍
I love this song I was 3 years old at the time and remember it so well and the video that went with it still love it after all these years , cute ,graceful and glamorous.❤❤❤
Wonderful' I'll be 84 in 3 days but you two gave a lot of pleasure to people. RIP Abi.

Le charme et le talent d'Esther Ofarim...!
I remember this song so well, as I was a very young child and every time it came on the radio, I used to sing along with it!! Happy, beautiful, innocent days!!
Sweet sixties..!!! R.I.P., Abi Ofarim.
I still remember being in London with my parents as a 6-year-old boy in 1968.
We all went to Madame Tussauds and there the duo Esther & Abi Ofarim stood under an umbrella with rain pouring over it and 'Cinderella Rockefella' sounded.
not sure I heard this before but it put a huge smile on my face - what a wonderfully playful and clever song.
A U.K number 1 in 1968.
Oh so many happy memories and hard to believe I was five when this came out. Big thumbs up for this.
I was that age too - but what a fantastic voice Esther has.
@@pabrennan6877 Me too. Loved it!
super song, even my three year old grandchildren danced along with it
My daughter who is 1 years old loves this song as my mam sang it to her from when she was born and when she is sad we put the song on and she smiles and dances to it
Great to see London in those days.
Often heard this on the radio as a kid in the 1960's, brings my childhood back every time I hear it without fail, sorry to hear of the passing away of Abi Ofarim, one half of the duo, 80's not a bad innings though and she's still around at 77, it's surreal, seems like only yesterday they were this young carefree sounding couple singing on the radio :)
Abi is the bloke, A trained dancer and dance teacher, Esther was his wife. I always believe if the man is the better dancer, he shouldn't show up his lady. Especially not his Cinderella Rockafella. Isn't it FAB seeing the video.
1of the better duos
This was used in the Rockefeller campaign! Unfortunately, Nixon won that year.
a slice of London history.
I had never ever heard of Esther & Abi until I read of Abi's passing and followed links in Wikipedia to this artist and this song. They were like a different Sonny & Cher, then they went their separate ways and made lots more music. Great song and great video, so old-timey and so kitschy, with the kitsch plugged into an amp and turned up to eleven.
That's really cool! I've been a fan of them since I was 13 :) if you have any questions about them, I'll be glad to answer!
Turn it up! 😂
im 21years young :D, i heard that song once time, and i love that music and beat:D and now i found it on spotify :D thats sooo nice
Amazing!!!!
Was 2yrs old when this was out.... busy trying to identify the cars, got almost all. This song reminds me of my late ‘nan’ remembering back to early 70’s....😷
Aaah, my old mum's favourite song, I always think of her when I hear it all these years later, have it on my phone now.
Nice to see that slice of old London that we're never going to get back just carrying on in the background, excellent.
That's because it's 1968...did you think the 21st century would look exactly the same?
Talents, emotions and hight style!
Thank you for Video.
Very charming !
Back in 1968, I was 11. I often went home after school and kept staring at the radio. "C'mon, Mr. DJ. Won't you put on my favorite song to play"?
In the 1960s come the Beatles the music was inclusive & not exclusive, meaning anybody could cut a single & have a hit ie Leapy Lee & this couple's quirky smile song. Great video & nobody batted an eye.
This is one of the first songs I remember when I was 2ish
What an amazing song..so many memories and I adore the video. Thank you😊xxx
So many memories …..and good emotions in our time!
Yet another example to set along side those who think the music video was invented by Queen in 1975.
Thanks for posting
Exactly, and I remember at the time thinking, hang on what about Alice Cooper's Elected? Brilliant video in 1972. Since then I've seen countless others... But I had read it in some music magazine, so I believed it..
Never forgotten this song and video on TV when I was 6, great memories.
This hit by Esther & Abi Ofarim was the 213th #1 song of the Rock Era in the United Kingdom
I Love Her Knickers - "They're Very Frilly" Oooh Oooh Oooh l Love You.
I love this song so much. The first song I ever heard and 45 years later I still love it!!!
Fantastic music!..... and good memory!
I searched all day for it and finally found it. Yes I also remember it as a child.😃
Esther Ofarim's voice goes straight into the soul.
This song reappeared in my head today; I just had to hear it again after all these years.
Wasn`t she pretty though?! And the voice.
They both have great voices, don’t they?
R.I.P. ABI.....
I love this song and I was two when it came out in 1968! This video is so good, funny and witty. Great song even now 💜💜💜
I was 5 when this came out, and always remember playing it on the family Dansette record player. A lovely song.
Brilliant! Haven't seen this since the 60s when I was about 15. Can't help thinking that if you listen to the rythmn, it has overtones of Steptoe & Son. Listen again!
The fella always sounds like Bob Monkhouse to me...
This song really is very catchy. I lost track of it for about 50 years but found it again Thanks to the internet. I believe bobby gentry recorded this song as well.Andrew Wyeth.
I'm so glad this video is available, what a great little tune. I had a 45rpm of this when I was a kid.
RIP Abi
Einfach wunderschön 🙂❤️
I loved it. Amazing.
All these years I have never thought to check which song was No 1 when I was born! Thanks to Wikipedia, I now know it was "Bird Dog" by the Everlys. Thanks for that. This song is all that was great about the 60s. Shame they divorced 2 years later.
They couldn't have...remember everything was perfect then
Ahhhh memories of the 60's and this song seems so time and place - thanks for the great re-edit...
Absolutely brilliant. Thanks so much for editing and uploading this gem. Only a touch before my time but takes me back. 👍👍
I recently heard a brief clip of this song on a contemporary TV show and it hit me oh my gosh I hadn't heard or even thought of this in over 49 years and I loved this tune, so glad you did this re-edit.
Loved this as a kid! Listening to it now I bet it drove a lot of people up the wall!
1960's song can't beat that!
Ich hatte diesen tollen Song und Duo complett vergessen - danke fürs hochladen ... :-)
Great song and lyric - takes me back to childhood..LOL
😍😍😍💚🙏Awww I love it, Great sung 💚💚💚
Esther and Abi were, if memory serves me right, the first Israeli artists to have an international hit, and this catchy ditty, produced by Nurit Hirsh, was just the one!
Thank you for posting this! I was fooling around and found out that this was the number one song when I was born .. never heard it before but I really love it and I love the video and I Love the presentation here. Nice job. Fine job! Thank you again. Peace!
Woke up this morning with strains of this song in my head, had to go and find what I was thinking about. I was 4 when this came out! Tells you a lot about memories that stick around.
prachtiggggg ♥ ben te laat geboren
Well done. Been waiting for a "complete" version. Many thanks!!
#1 Song in England: "Cinderella Rockefella" was a novelty single most famously released by the Israeli duo group Esther and Abi Ofarim, a then married couple, in 1968. The song was recorded in 1967 & it took an appearance on The Eamonn Andrews Show to bring the song to the attention of the British public. The track peaked at No. 1 in the UK Singles Chart in February 1968, where it remained for three weeks.
Written by Mason Williams
As poster said, written by MASON WILLIAMS, American musician who did 'CLASSICAL GAS'. It was offered to them on 'THE SMOTHERS BROTHERS SHOW', which he worked on here in US. It topped the charts in UK, made it to 68 or so here. Unfortunately, I think the success of it ended up ruining their marriage, as they had differences in future work choices!
I used to like this as a kid. Still do.
Me too! Aaaah, those were the days! Peace and Love to you Linda!
Love it!
Love it! 😵
Trop génial ! Quelle qualité !
This was one of the very first pop singles I remember being semi into. I was in the first year of Infants school at the time.
My mother once told me the midwife said to her you have a fella when i was born, this song was in the charts at the time in 68
Just love this song, don't have a clue why?, just do, lovely stuff.
My childhood is coming back!
wunderschön!!!
Just heard this in the 2004 Israeli film, "Walk on Water", directed by Eytan Fox.
I think this was a piss-take on all the sick, sentemental love songs around at the time, which itself was a funny idea, and did very well in the charts. I loved it, still do.
I loved this song growing up, so amazing :)
Le parole della canzone imitano lo jodel, con un arrangiamento in stile anni '20, strutturato come un blues di dodici battute. Il Quartetto Cetra ne fece un'ottima cover.
GREAT MUSIC , THOSE DAYS LONG GONE
Charming !
Omg, how cute is this!! 😘
Many thanks for your info!
Thank you for all the work you did on this great old video and song. It's a happy, hopeful song. I wish more people would come out of their dark, dank, "woke" cave and say something positive about life and people.
What a disturbing video, it's brilliant!
Still Game brought me here.
R.I.P. Abi Ofarim
Thanks for this ! ! Awesome !!!
Classic!
i love it...thanks for smartening it up...i just embedded it on my wordpress blog
Really nice!
Probs the earliest record I can remember on the radio,
in me mum's hairdressers, me, waiting for her hair to dry & set under one of those things that went over mum's head,Those plastic curler things weren't very exciting to play with, after I had eaten my bag of sweets from Martins the News Agents next door.
Terrific
legendary pop video in the POP history...still wonderbar
Lovely song, great re-edit, thank you. '1Plus' is a German TV channel, I believe.
Yes, it is - or better it was. The channel ceased in 2016 and was owned by the ARD. But take a closer look here: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/EinsPlus
Sorry ! This tv clip hails from another tv station that existed earlier (1986-1993) than the one i mentioned. The Owner was the same: ARD. See here: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ARD_1_Plus
Awesome
Hyde Park Corner is a London Underground station near Hyde Park Corner in Hyde Park. It is in Travelcard Zone 1, between Knightsbridge and Green Park on the Piccadilly line
Still Game for me too
As a kid (not understanding the lyrics) i thought he actually loves yodelling:
