There is a portion of the gaming community that actually thinks that Star Wars Jedi: Survivor being ported over to the Xbox One X|S and PS4/Pro "devalues" the Xbox Series X|S and PS5. I do not understand why more Gamers being able to experience a particular game devalues present platforms. It's almost like too many Gamers don't enjoy gaming, but instead enjoys being able to play something others can't play. Like l, to them, gaming isn't fun if everyone can do it. It's only fun if there are huge swathes of Gamers who aren't able to play said game. Gamers can be so damn toxic, man.

Until COD, Madden, Fortnite, and GTA all go current gen then we'll see the consoles not sale as much. There will be a boom in sales when GTA drops and we already seen sales go up for College Football.
Fortnite will never upgrade to current gen since it’s a continuous service game. We’ll eventually see COD and Madden head current gen only (why Madden is still cross gen while CFB is current gen is beyond me), and GTA is next year. Plus there’s no good exclusives for either system.

The main reason is that in the past the prices for consoles would have dropped by now. Most of the people willing to get the console at full price already have. It’ll take a must have PS5/Series only game to move the needle.
Sega is 1000% smarter than Square. Drops games on all platform. Within a short time, drops into gamepass for some more money. Take marketing deals. But stay always from exclusive deals. Like square WTF?

Sony really screwed up trying to go live service just to make a quick buck. They should stick to what they do best and that is single player games. Leave the live service to people who specialize in them and just add them to your platform. Go back to doing what you do best. Otherwise I feel Sony is going to fall so far behind they won't have any chance to ever catch up or be relevant again. Selling a lot of consoles is impressive, but we all know you don't make much if any profit on consoles.
The truth is, without live service, Sony will not get much profit. Look at their profit margins. They have to appease their investors one way or another. Single player games are only meant to popularize the consoles nowadays, but they are not the main profit drivers anymore.

Hopefully 3rd party publishers stop making short term dells and focus instead on long term sells across multiple platforms. The entire point of being a 3rd party publisher is to exploit all platforms, not take bribe money to benefit one platform at their own expense as well as their fans' expense. Maybe a 3rd party publisher like Xbox can come along and free Square Enix to be who they were meant to be.
I like for Santa Monica's new IP to be like Mass Effect. Likewise, there are people from Bungie that has joined one of SIE's incubation group to make a new Sci Fi IP. I have little faith in BioWare to follow through with the next Mass Effect because that core team is gone.

50% of the active PlayStation install base is on PS4 (e.g. 47 million ppl are on PS5 and another 47 million are on PS4) And there's probably 10-20 million ppl who still use their Xbox Ones regularly
Maybe people are realising that gaming is wasting too much of their time with nothing to show. Gaming needs to change and not require so many hours to complete. We also need more couch coop if I'm going to game it's good when you can create memories with kids instead of lone memories.
That's a big reason for the Switches success, their priority to focus on couch coop. When I'm over a friends or family members house and want to game local multiplayer the Switch is almost the number one console of choice when it comes to that. Unless we want to play something that's not on the Switch like Injustice, Tekken, Soul Calibur, SF6, etc. It'll be scary and will pretty much be game over for my other consoles if the Switch successor ever got those games lol
@firestriker6846 yer. Gaming for me has become work not fun. Console gaming should focus on 2 or 4 player couch coop gaming first then single player/online gaming second. Gaming should be something that bonds people not separates. I know some people live a lonely life so there's that but that ain't healthy.
I created plenty of memories without the need for couch coop as a kid. In fact it's an easy lesson to teach kids to wait their turn. For example I played cooperatively with RE1 and Onimusha with my cousin and it had no co op. Think outside the box people.
I miss the days of playing with friends in the same room. It would be family now but the same premise. All gathered round trying to put each other off, having a laugh, arguments etc.
That's because PC has modders to fix the games. You just need to upgrade to the new hardware, if you have the best already wait until next year and get that one instead. Yes I'm being a tad facetious, but how many times do we hear about pc being the master race?

I highly doubt we’ll see these new systems reach the heights of Switch, PS2, and the other big seller consoles. There’s just no big games people are willing to upgrade for yet, and the ones that do come out (CFB 25 and GTA 6) are only gonna lead to incremental increases. Service games are the reason 4 years in that the PS4 and Xbox One are still supported.
So, who has more games in their game catalogs? Microsoft. Who builds Windows programs, consoles, and computers? Microsoft. Who now owns more game development companies? Microsoft. Who is setting themselves up to be able to sell more games because they do? Microsoft. Who's setting themselves up with game pass to provide game access to both computers and consoles? Microsoft. Who's talking about a hybrid console? Microsoft..Last question who's setting themselves up to make a lot of money by creating the games, the consoles, the gaming computers, the programming, and the game pass services all in 1 package? Microsoft. So yes other companies will be looking at that because share of market means more games and products sold.

Exclusivity isnt going away. It will change to what service can get the game. You will be able to pay for any game outright. The deal will be exclusivity to gamepass or what ever sub service.

Depending on where you live, you might find some used Xboxes for cheap. In North Carolina and Tennessee, there’s a chain called McKays that sells used books, consoles, games, and movies and I got my Series S from there for $160. I talked to the staff and they said they’re getting ready to lower the prices again on their Xboxes due to low sales. And it’s all good quality.
tbh i do not give a crap about GTA 6 and am not buying any console and if Rockstar wants my $$$ then they need to put that game on PC and Steam and how many of those Monthly Active Users are from PC or PS?

Xbox has that many MAUs because they own CoD, Overwatch, Warzone, World of Warcraft, Diablo, Candy Crush, Minecraft, Elder Scrolls Online, Fallout 76, Sea of Thieves, Halo, Forza etc. Not only that they support PC, consoles, mobile, and cloud. When you take all of that into consideration, Microsoft should have a ton of MAUs. As far as the console market is concerned, Xbox is in 3rd place as usual 😂

Those games you mention are not multiple platforms they are port big difference. Also the one that is multipleplat check unicorn overload was far behind ff7 sales despite it only being on 1 platform
You're comparing a Final Fantasy game, to Unicorn Overload... One of these things has a far, FAR bigger fanbase and reach than the other, which can matter more than the number of platforms.

The point that you have to understand, is that more people are going to go for FF7, because it's a franchise with a decades long history, so it was always gonna sell. However, if it didn't sell within their expectations, then they can see it as a failure, because it didn't sell as well as they wanted. Unicorn Overload likely has a smaller expected sales figure, which can be reached easier than FF7, which can then make it a success. And please, if you're gonna throw around, "it's this number in this country" data, provide a source, doesn't have to be a link, but at least where you found those.

Square Enix had more exclusive Nintendo games than Playstation games over the past couple of years. Idk why Playstation is the only company people talk about with Square Enix exclusives.
Because all of those games are smaller games. They don't require much to get a return on investment because those games don't cost much to develop in the first place. AAA Square Enix games like the Final Fantasy games, on the other hand, they cost a metric f* ton to develop. Selling those games on just the PlayStation platform for the first year or two significantly damages the profit margin for those games. So, since Sony causes so much damage to Square Enix's profit margins, they get talked about the most.
@BrotherKnowledge. Square Enix said in their previous financial report, Jan-Mar 2024 where FF7 Rebirth launched, that the only segment they made profit from was the AAA segment.
I refuse to buy any Final Fantasy that requires a subscription. I don't care its got a 60hour trial. I'm not playing a game where eventually I'm expected to not only buy large DLC, but also sub monthly.

I like for Santa Monica's new IP to be like Mass Effect. Likewise, there are people from Bungie that has joined one of SIE's incubation group to make a new Sci Fi IP. I have little faith in BioWare to follow through with the next Mass Effect because that core team is gone.
Look into a game called Exodus. I do believe a large number of the OG Bioware team are behind this. A channel named Spell&Shield has covered it well.

Most my friends are stuck on ps4 and x1 still, They are casual, Fortnite, cod, madden and there kids play roblox and Minecraft.

Maybe people are realising that gaming is wasting too much of their time with nothing to show. Gaming needs to change and not require so many hours to complete. We also need more couch coop if I'm going to game it's good when you can create memories with kids instead of lone memories.
That's a big reason for the Switches success, their priority to focus on couch coop. When I'm over a friends or family members house and want to game local multiplayer the Switch is almost the number one console of choice when it comes to that. Unless we want to play something that's not on the Switch like Injustice, Tekken, Soul Calibur, SF6, etc. It'll be scary and will pretty much be game over for my other consoles if the Switch successor ever got those games lol
@firestriker6846 yer. Gaming for me has become work not fun. Console gaming should focus on 2 or 4 player couch coop gaming first then single player/online gaming second. Gaming should be something that bonds people not separates. I know some people live a lonely life so there's that but that ain't healthy.
I created plenty of memories without the need for couch coop as a kid. In fact it's an easy lesson to teach kids to wait their turn. For example I played cooperatively with RE1 and Onimusha with my cousin and it had no co op. Think outside the box people.

I highly doubt we’ll see these new systems reach the heights of Switch, PS2, and the other big seller consoles. There’s just no big games people are willing to upgrade for yet, and the ones that do come out (CFB 25 and GTA 6) are only gonna lead to incremental increases. Service games are the reason 4 years in that the PS4 and Xbox One are still supported.
One game does badly, so now exclusives are dumb. If exclusives are bad, ask microsoft what none got them.
So, who has more games in their game catalogs? Microsoft. Who builds Windows programs, consoles, and computers? Microsoft. Who now owns more game development companies? Microsoft. Who is setting themselves up to be able to sell more games because they do? Microsoft. Who's setting themselves up with game pass to provide game access to both computers and consoles? Microsoft. Who's talking about a hybrid console? Microsoft..Last question who's setting themselves up to make a lot of money by creating the games, the consoles, the gaming computers, the programming, and the game pass services all in 1 package? Microsoft. So yes other companies will be looking at that because share of market means more games and products sold.

Depending on where you live, you might find some used Xboxes for cheap. In North Carolina and Tennessee, there’s a chain called McKays that sells used books, consoles, games, and movies and I got my Series S from there for $160. I talked to the staff and they said they’re getting ready to lower the prices again on their Xboxes due to low sales. And it’s all good quality.

Xbox has that many MAUs because they own CoD, Overwatch, Warzone, World of Warcraft, Diablo, Candy Crush, Minecraft, Elder Scrolls Online, Fallout 76, Sea of Thieves, Halo, Forza etc. Not only that they support PC, consoles, mobile, and cloud. When you take all of that into consideration, Microsoft should have a ton of MAUs.

I don't know what I want for their next IP. If it is released after games that are like it I could be sick with that type of game. That is a problem with games that take too long to make. If development time is short, they can follow a trend. If development time is long, it should set a trend.

But exclusives are needed to move hardware. Without exclusives why should i buy a specific console? Exclusivity is a way to drive customers to your product. Look at Microsoft's hardware sales. The point that you have to understand, is that more people are going to go for FF7, because it's a franchise with a decades long history, so it was always gonna sell. However, if it didn't sell within their expectations, then they can see it as a failure, because it didn't sell as well as they wanted. Unicorn Overload likely has a smaller expected sales figure, which can be reached easier than FF7, which can then make it a success.
And please, if you're gonna throw around, "it's this number in this country" data, provide a source, doesn't have to be a link, but at least where you found those.

Because all of those games are smaller games. They don't require much to get a return on investment because those games don't cost much to develop in the first place.
AAA Square Enix games like the Final Fantasy games, on the other hand, they cost a metric f* ton to develop. Selling those games on just the PlayStation platform for the first year or two significantly damages the profit margin for those games. So, since Sony causes so much damage to Square Enix's profit margins, they get talked about the most.

I refuse to buy any Final Fantasy that requires a subscription. I don't care its got a 60hour trial. I'm not playing a game where eventually I'm expected to not only buy large DLC, but also sub monthly.
