Rhythm and musicality is what makes it different from just written text.. like a chapter. I am not saying that Prose is bad. Prose is beautiful. It’s just NOT a Poem. We have to understand this difference.

I was a very fair girl when I was young but I didn't really care about things like that. I was very skinny too. But when I turned 13 I had my periods for the first time and I gained alot of wait. I was in 6th grade when I saw girls dressing up and applying whiting creams just to look "prettier". At that time, for the first time I found myself ugly. I had a terrible tan because till that point I never really cared about my skin. From then onwards I tried everything to become as fair as possible. From applying haldi to whitening creams, I tried everything but I was still not satisfied. To top it of I just started doing competitive yoga. TBH I felt miserable everytime I go to my yoga class, looking at those skinny girls just made me feel depressed. Even the teachers told me to lose weight. It was horrible. But slowly but surely I have accepted myself with all my gains and flaws. I no longer use whitening face powder. I think some people will call me fair and some won't but it doesn't really matter anymore. I feel so much better. I still get anxious about my weight but I know how to cope with it now. We should love ourselves for who we are becuz in the end all we will have is ourselves. Idk who needs to hear this but nobody will be a better you then yourself💖. So all the girls and boys out there, if you want a change do it for yourself, don't do it just to fit in💖💖

I was watching this with my sister and as soon as the word vagina was said she turned it off. So I rewatched later, alone. The reason why girls are saying quiet is because of people like my sister THEY THINK THIS TYPE OF STUFF IS PRIVATE but it's not. They're are so many girls in the world, the all go through the same things and should be able to share their feelings with eachother

This is by far the best video I have seen regarding colorism. I love the poetry and the strong form of spoken word that you displayed. You are phenomenal! I never imagined that Indian people bleached their skin types to embrace European beauty standards. I guess all groups of people are and have been affected by the so called "Societal Norms" of Europeans, but I must say, who are they? They are people without a real hue. I am a dark brown woman myself of another ethnicity, mixed with other racial ethnicities, but I am considered a Black women here in America. I was always taught from a young child to love myself unconditionally and embrace my deep, rich dark chocolate tone because many will hate me for it. I see that you people go through the same. I must say that I always wondered why Indian people and others around the world were taught to hate my race of people and we are very similar in color. I have seen Indian people of your culture darker than most of my people. I am saying this because I have heard numerous rumors that Indians were amongst the groups of people who hate Black so-called people just because society has made a many hate us. I always felt that your people have most of the same struggles that we face as people of color.
Your video is inspiring and I love the bravery that you have shown to fight back and disregard and void the hatred that you were taught about your own skin complex. I and many of my people have always loved the shades of brown that you all have. The richer the more beautiful. You all, men and women, boys, and girls were given the gift of melanin for a special reason and I hope that your people can be led by your inspiration, plight and wisdom to know that what you all have is beautiful and hated by those who can never have what you have. Melanin is the most valuable, priceless form of protection on this planet, and for beautiful people to strip themselves of that gift by the Most High is insane. You all do not burn in the sun, but can and will along with a variety of health problems when you bleach the skin that is made for protection. I just wanted t share this with you. I do not know if you do not want me to respond to this because I am of the Black race that the world steadily hates, but I am happy with myself, and I love my brown. I am glad that you love yours, and that you are waking your people up to learn to embrace and love theirs also. European standards are not the standards of real beauty If they were, there would never have been or be a problem with embracing others and no problems with others loving themselves the way they are. I mean my race is hated for many things, but the one thing I don't understand is that "Black" hair should be banned. Why and how could someone be ashamed to be proud of what is grown from their scalps from birth? It's insane and we have no control over that. They pressured us to embrace European beauty standards and straighten our hair to look more "European". I love me for who I am inside, out and what is atop my crown.
