    I still LOVE The Batman.
In the era of cinematic universes and streaming services as well as so many other truly fantastic films this past year, The Batman has continued to dominate discussion as one of, if not the best movies of the year, and ranks high for many people as one of the best superhero movies ever made. And to me, that’s the mark of a truly great film, and a truly great piece of art.
With more news coming out about the different spinoff shows and everything else Matt Reeves is involved in, I’ve recently been thinking more about the sheer potential that the movie left off on, and all the different directions that the (still unconfirmed) sequel could go in.
Back in March I made a big pitch about what I would want to see from the movie’s sequel. I still like a lot of that video, but there’s just so much possibility with the way the first movie ended and this universe, and with the size of Batman’s Rogues gallery it didn’t feel fair to stop there.
This isn’t a “Part 2” to that video, instead some other possible directions that the movie could go in. Batman has perhaps the greatest cast of villains of any comicbook character, with stories that have defined generations, and I want to explore some of the reasons why they’re so great using the fantastic world that the first movie set up.
And so, here are my pitches for different villains that I would want to see in The Batman Universe.

The two of them are usually a match pair due to their storybook counterparts feeling pretty closely connected (Mad Hatter - Alice in Wonderland, Scarecrow - Wizard of Oz)… Both books have a similar ebb and flow, and both characters from the books delve into the mind (Mad Hatter is insane, and Scarecrow wants to have a brain)…
They balance each other out pretty well, Crane’s serious aura of fear is leveled out by the fantastical whimsy of Tetch… And Tetch’s insanity is leveled out by Crane’s focus and drive (he’s still crazy, but not lost in his own Wonderland, like Jarvis)

I love the idea for hugo strange and the character as a whole, I think the analysing the batman and make him admit he's not a hero works best for the scarecrow. Strange I think is better when goes to extreme lengths to prove not that batman is no hero and too brake him, but too prove that he is better than him and would be a better batman than him

I’ve always thought it would be more interesting for Langstrom to do his experiments on other people. I think it makes the whole “mad scientist” aspect of his character a lot more interesting, but I never even thought about him using it on his wife. That brings this whole extra layer of grossness to it, especially because the subtext implies he married her to cure her, when all it really was is this disgusting savior complex that he hoped would pay off.

    • @captaincomic8678
      @captaincomic8678 Před rokem +72

See I will always prefer Langstrom as a sympathetic character, for a long period of time he was a bit of an anti-hero, trying to use his abilities to do good but struggling with his addiction to the Man-Bat serum and the literal insanity it brings. Someone who knows what he's doing is a bad idea but keeps justifying it to himself and ends up hurting people because of it. It also makes him a neat counter to Batman in that he wants to do what Bruce does, stopping criminals and the like, but he doesn't fully grasp the weight of the responsibility that comes with it.

But after a while the crooks start breathing down his neck and getting impatient with the slow progress and failed tests (can't use bat-henchmen that are dead, insane, or feral) so he resorts to testing on himself and finally perfects the process.

    • @MightyAverage

@@captaincomic8678 I also like that approach, and think it can be done incredibly well. But my first introduction to Man-Bat was through the 2004 show and I think it’s still the most effective to me. Someone that wants to be respected and feared, so he takes the modern legend of the Batman and bends it in order to achieve that goal. Batman does have a lot of sympathetic villains, and while Langstrom is often one of them, I think that concept is a bit more effective, since he’s a villain in a city that not only is bathed in fear, but thrives in it.
Sympathetic Langstrom can always be done well, but anti-hero Langstrom feels a bit odd. His goal shouldn’t be to stop criminals or anything, only to get the ego boost he feels that h so justly deserves.

I think Hugo Strange can tie a lot of villains' stories together: Scarecrow and Harley Quinn in particular. They could all be colleagues working at Arkham, and Hugo may have inspired, or even encouraged, Jonathan Crane's experiments with fear, and Harleen Quinzel's study of the Joker. He could even be linked to Kirk Langstrom, with Kirk's Man-bat formula being used in his own experiments with the Monster-men. I could see Hugo Strange as Batman's Lex Luthor: a mastermind working indirectly and above the law, petty and desperate to prove that they are superior to their nemesis.

I think a great way to ground the Freeze suit in this universe would be to not make him wear it to stay cold, but literally to protect himself from his own weapon while he freezes people. Make it like a specialized low temp hazmat suit or something.

That could work. But instill feel like there still needs to be a life support aspect to the suite maybe instead of a bit glass helmet he can have a mask that helps him breath? That's a little too much like what Nolan did for bane but maybe they can make it distinctive.

    • @ThompsonBrosStudios

Yeah functionally for the story it would serve the same purpose either way. Basically, if you ruin the suit, freeze can't function properly, Batman wins. I just don't think he needs the weird comic low temp survival thing going on, its sorta over the top and unnecessary. I think the best way to go about it is to make the suit seem like something he could believably have access to because of his cryo research which he then sort of builds from.

Let's say the man who blackmailed Basil Carlo into committing his crimes is Tony Zucco, and one of the things he forces Basil to do is kill the flying Graysons. Dick could be sent to an orphanage and becomes Robin on his own choice to find Carlo and Zucco. Maybe Batman and Robin chase Carlo into the factory/laboratory that the clay substance is made, and Robins anger leads to an accident that turns Carlo into Clayface.

I personally really like the idea of a Killer Croc origin story. We see the trauma that Waylon has been the victim of, from childbirth, all the way to when he moves to Gotham. How he constantly tries to be better, be good, but how he fails every time. Not because he is an inherently bad person, but because people perceive him as one. This can be used as a metaphor for racism, ableism or classism, as well as highlighting the psychological effects of constant stress, being perceived as a monster by everyone, never knowing what it is like to feel love.
We see his mother die at childbirth. With no father in the picture, he gets pawned off to his aunt. As he gets older, scales start to grow on his skin. We see his aunt force him to scrub the scales off with a sponge. We see him be starved and imprisoned in the basement when he doesn't do so. We see him being relentlessly bullied by his peers. He doesn't get a chance at an education. He gets beaten to a pulp on the street by other teenagers. We see how much worse it is at home. Until finally, he snaps. We don't see the act. We see the corpse. Bones are twisted, turned in the wrong direction. A leg is missing. The jaw is only connected on one side. Most of the internal organs are gone. There's a hole in her chest. Where her heart should be, there's nothing. Nothing but a single tooth. In an attempt to find people that accepted him, Waylon started his journey. He started from his home in Florida and started to go north. Along the way, he sees a lot of people. They're not always friendly, but when they are, that stops when they are a good look at him. At a certain point, a policeman approaches him. As soon as he sees Waylon's skin. His eyes. His teeth. As soon as he sees him, he leaps backwards. The policeman pulls his gun out of the holster and points it at him. Waylon puts his hands in the air. He cooperates, but he still gets a bullet in his shoulder. Waylon bleeds. The bullet is stuck in his shoulder, but he doesn't know how to get it out. Everytime he moves his arm, it hurts. The pain becomes unbearable. He decides to dig the bullet out of his shoulder with his bare hand. His fingers are starting to turn into claws. Waylon subjects himself to an incredibly painful procedure to get that bullet out of his shoulder. He manages to get it out, but passes out from the pain. He wakes up the next day. He feels like he should be dead, but he isn't. Jones looks at his shoulder. It's completely healed. Scales cover the places where the bullet had entered his body. It looks as is the bullet wound was never there. A bruise, maybe, but definitely no bullet wound. As Waylon continues his trek, he comes across a circus. With no idea where to go, and no money to buy food, Waylon decides to join the circus. His scales have grown over his entire body. The man spent weeks with the circus, wrestling with crocodiles and alligators. He drew in quite the crowd. At night, however, his fellow circus acts abandoned him. He was lucky if he could sleep in a cage. He didn't enjoy it, but at least he could eat food. At least he wasn't starving. The moment that the director pulls out a whip, Waylon revolts. The burning feeling on his back wasn't new. It wasn't even as bad as the punishments his aunt used to give him for acting out of line. Or maybe he just developed thicker skin (literally). Waylon pulls the director into two pieces. His legs lay over a full meter from eachother. His lungs are in pieces, somewhere in the carnage that used to be the director. The eyes were undamaged. Just empty. Waylon continues making his way north. he keeps getting bigger. Stronger. More like a monster. If people saw him, they got as far away from him as they could. He didn't care. He just kept walking. Eventually, he makes it to Gotham. Waylon doesn't have much money, but decides to go to a cafe. The staff is terrified of him. A man comes to sit across from him. He introduces himself and intimates a conversation. The first real conversation that Waylon has had in years. He wasn't being commanded to do something, he wasn't being insulted or demonized, he was actually just talking to someone. As the conversation continues, the man invites Waylon to meet him the next day. He suggests a time and place and leaves the cafe. The next day, Waylon makes sure to be right on time. The man from the cafe arrives soon after, and they share a conversation as they walk a few blocks. Eventually, the man asks Waylon to help him with something. The man doesn't give any details, but Waylon accepts immediately, captivated by the man's charisma. They turn the corner, and arrive at a bank. The man pulls out a gun and enters the building. Waylon walks in after him, and they take all the money in the vault. The police arrive shortly afterwards. There is no way out. The man from the cafe tells Waylon to walk outside, and he obliges without protest. The man makes his escape through a back alley, while Waylon takes gunfire from the police. The bullets barely puncture his scaly skin. He flees, frightened by the pain and gunfire. The police are everywhere, so Waylon makes his way into the sewers, where he digs out every bullet that the cops shot into him. After days of staying in the sewers, too afraid to come out, his hunger drives him to leave the sewers. He manages to get some food, and always keeps his guard up. That is, until he meets her. She comes up to him and asks him how he's doing. He looked sad, so she wanted to check how he was doing. After their conversation, they go for coffee. They then decide to meet again. Waylon falls for her. He falls hard this is someone that sees him as Waylon, not as Killer Croc. Maybe the first ever. Eventually, she is killed in an botched bank robbery. She is shot in the stomach, while trying to help a child to get away from the robber. Waylon is a wreck. The only person who he had ever loved, the only person that ever loved him. Gone. Jones goes on a killing spree. He rips every murderer, rapist and thief limb from limb. Not for justice. For vengeance. He continues to do so, until he finds someone that confesses to the murder of his one love. The man from the cafe. Right as he is about to get his revenge, the Batman shows up. It was his one chance at revenge. It was his one chance at love. Both were taken away from him. He suffers in the sewers underneath Arkham. He gets no food. He survives on the rats. The garbage. Every now and again the guards throw him the corpse of one of Dr. Strange's failed attempts at monster men. Starving, he accepts it. He eats it. Not it. Him. The film closes with Waylon at his lowest point. He lost everything. He knows he deserves this. He's always been a monster to them. So that's what he became.

This is great! There's a Killer Croc comic (I forget where it's from, New 52 Batman and Robin I think) where he kills a bunch of cops in the sewers whilst flashing back to his life, showing how he got to where he was, the abuse he's suffered, with the ending revealing the cops were dirty, they killed another cop who threatened to expose them and dumped his body in the sewers. It turned out that cop was the only person to show Waylon kindness as a child, and he killed the cops out of revenge. After years failing as a criminal, he finally took the cops words to heart 'maybe you'll be a king one day' and he ends up forming a bond with the people living in Gotham's sewers who helped him trap the cops, who then gather with him as they give his dead friend an almost Viking style funeral in the sewers, with them accepting Waylon as he is chanting 'King Croc'. The entire comic Killer Croc doesn't say a word if I remember correctly, but it's an amazing short story.

I think starting to go in a slightly more 'fantastical' angle for Batman's foes is the best way for Matt Reeves to go. If I had one issue with Christopher Nolans trilogy is that it was so fixated on being realistic that it really limited the villains and stories they could've done. Poison Ivy, Killer Croc, Mr Freeze, Man-bat, and Clayface wouldn't be the same without those fantastical elements.

  • @tomtudorweaver1078
    @tomtudorweaver1078 Před rokem +25

I love Killer Moth as a character concept.
To be honest I'd love to see James Gunn handle him, I genuinely think he's a great concept for a character with a lot of potential. He's a guy who sees himself as the anti-Batman, a hero for criminals, who basically gets hired as a distraction by dressing in a colorful costume for heroes to beat him up. I think that concept is pretty meta and interesting. In a world of super villains, no matter if you're a megalomaniac or an alien warlord, the only guarantee is you're likely going to be beaten by the hero, so why not try and profit off of it? It's a pretty pathetic way to live, but I think it could be made really interesting. Maybe he grew up in a neighborhood where people were failed by the system and crime was the only option, so he sees them as victims being unfairly punished and decides to step in and be a symbol for them, or so he thinks anyway. I think if he's presented not as a villain but someone with a misguided sense of nobility, he'd work in say another Suicide Squad film or even as the lead in a film or series about the c-list rogues of Gotham city.
Speaking of which, I really hope we get lower-level villains in this universe, I'm talking the likes of Killer Moth, Crazy Quilt, Ten-eyed Man, Condiment King, all those guys, and I think there's an easy way to integrate them.
I think a good way to pull that off is to have them feature in a similar sequence to the opening of the first film, where in that we saw a montage of criminals in masks committing petty crimes, I'm imagining a similar scenario but with them wearing goofy multicolored costumes that are incredibly comic accurate, tights and all, since they're literally made by small time criminals and they're not meant to be taken seriously, they're just dumb criminals in this universe and nothing more. All we'd need is to see Batman having caught some of them, or police stuffing them into the back of squad cars.
I think that would work as a great opening not only to set up how the criminals in Gotham are changing, thus leading into bigger time villains like Freeze or Clayface, but it would also illustrate the influence the Riddler had on Gotham's criminals, now any one of them thinks they can be another crazy guy in a mask with a goofy name.
They wouldn't be the type of criminals that they are in the comics, they'd basically just be brief easter eggs in the background, but I think it'd flesh out the world a lot.
On a side note, if they were to do the Scarecrow again, I'd love a story where he gaslights Gotham (no pun intended) where it turns out there's no fear toxin, it'd be a fun twist that really emphasizes the idea that he's the master of fear as he himself technically does nothing to the city, and just lets Gotham tear itself apart.

It could be that his father was a crime boss, a manipulative crime bosses that has his son clean up murders, blood, and other things and that leads to Eraser gaining OCD at a young age. He doesn't want to do i, but he can't help himself. This goes on when he's an adult until he's confronted by Batman, who offers to get him medical help if he turns over his father

      @mikephelps9238 Před 11 měsíci

@@agentcooper194I actually had a similar idea for the Eraser. Also, I have some ideas for lesser known villains:
Dr. Death: Karl Helfern is a scientist who worked on chemicals, and did jobs for companies like Shreck Industries and Wayne Enterprises. Eventually, he developed a drug that enhances strength: Venom (yep, he’d play a role on Bane’s use of venom). However, the board members of Wayne Enterprises, take the money, and fire him arrogantly, claiming they own his research. Angered and desiring vengeance, Helfern began working on a new drug called Viper, one similar to Venom, but kills people slowly. He tests it on random people, and when they show good results, he puts his plan on killing Gotham’s elite in action. However, he faces against Batman, who thwarts his plan by gassing the viper infected room with an antidote that he made, ruining Death’s chance at revenge. Even though he’s angry at Batman for ruining his plan, he accepts his fate of being locked in Blackgate.
Polka-Dot Man: Abner Krill is a physicist who worked at Wayne Enterprises, specializing in a flamboyant molecule that looks like a polka dot, one that produces tremendous amounts of heat, and can power up a generator within seconds. However, when running a test, he gets infected with the dots, which contained an inter dimensional virus that forces him to expel his dots every 2 to 3 days (unless he chooses to expel them earlier on, something of which he learns later on). However, due to needing Bruce Wayne’s signature, and with Wayne not around to sign, he loses his job, his life, and his family disown him. He runs out of options to the point of deciding to become a criminal. When he meets Batman, he quickly wants to become a nemesis to him, wanting to make the most of being a criminal. However, Batman doesn’t take him seriously, and treats him as a normal criminal. When Polka-Dot Man does a heist on the Wayne Gala, he expects Batman to show up, but due to not knowing that Batman and Wayne are the same person, he thinks Batman doesn’t care. So, realizing being a villain will not work, he decides to break into Wayne Enterprises to go back to where the dot generator is at, and use it to try to find a cure, even if it means infecting himself with more dots to become powerful enough to go through security, and risking a whole city block to be blown up.
Orca: Grace Balin, having a fascination with marine life, and began working in Wayne Enterprises’ environmental protection agency, specifically for sea life. However, she had a disorder that led to her having a stroke, leading to her getting paralyzed. She tried to continue her job without legs, but begins to become desperate to regain control of her legs, but the board of Wayne Enterprises refuse to fund it unless Bruce Wayne was there. Angered, she quit and left to research spinal cord tissue regeneration from orcas, leading to her creating a formula that could fix her paralysis. However, the side effects made her become a human orca. Because of this, she’s able to walk, but the cost was for her move out of Gotham after the people around her saw her as a freak. She became an assassin known as Orca to make a living as a criminal, and eventually fought Batman for a bounty on his head. Later, she teams up with Polka-Dot Man (the two having interacted once back when they were both normal) to get revenge on Wayne Enterprises. When Batman stopped them, Bruce told them that he’s setting up a lab at Arkham that could help cure them of their conditions. Abner and Grace are both thankful for Wayne, but still slightly skeptical, with Abner willing to try to make a cure for himself, but Grace refuses being cured, having accepted herself for who she is. While she is less hostile, she still remains a criminal, and also develops a friendship-attraction with Killer Croc, when the two’s cells are put next to each other.
Condiment King, Zebra Man, and King Tut: it’s pretty simple for each of them. Jervis, before he becomes Mad Hatter, tests his mind control chips on three random people, and due to Jervis’ twisted thoughts, the three become zany, silver age like, villains of the week. Each are given something unique, Condiment King having, well, a costume and condiment weapons, Zebra Man having a magnet like suit he stole from a Waynetech area, and King Tut having an army of drug induced followers.

At first it'd start as minor hallucinations, things appear in the wrong place and Batman investigates random killing sprees taking place in impoverished neighbourhoods. The attacks don't seem to be motivated and residues of a strange chemical in their blood streams
In the end its revealed that Jervis Tech, brilliant inventor at Wayne Tech with a childlike wonder, has been trying to bring happiness back to gotham after all they've been through, by sending them on a journey through wonderland. With this new universe, there’s a chance to be more comic book-y and bombastic while still not going Shumacher levels of overboard. I personally have some ideas for the sequel too. Now test screenings for the first movie stated how the first Reeves movie gave off psychological horror vibes. But this sequel will give more of the horror vibe. Therefore, I personally think that in a sequel, there are TWO VILLAINS that would be perfect for Batman to face up against, which I’ll explain in my pitch. So here it goes:
“Recently, on the news, there’s been a line a chains for new beauty/cosmetic products spreading around Gotham. But word has been getting out that there have been murders of many high profiled business people who all are being killed for strange reasons. The people are all linked to Roland Daggett, the business owner of the beauty chains, however no proof is shown that Daggett is behind the murders. But Bruce/Batman is still suspicious that Daggett is still not telling the truth about something.
In the meantime, Matt Hagen, a famed actor is just getting off the set of filming and heading back to his room, when it’s revealed that he’s hiding a dark secret when his face while handsome in the films is deformed, due to a car accident, when nobody sees. He has a supply of beauty cream that is made by Daggett's company, where it's reveal that Daggett offered him a lifetime supply of it, in exchange for being a test subject for the cream when being prepared to sell out. The cream which was made by none other than Pamela Isley made from rare plants that have the ability to form into specific shapes. Isley however has other plans, where thru Batman's detective work realizes that it was her who murdered those people through her poisoning the beauty products, specifically lipsticks.
Batman begins a mission to find what’s going on, and finds Isley's hideout, where we get some intense scenes when he arrives to investigate her place. But the area is filled with so many plants. Batman just so happens to touch one that it grasps him, to which we get a jump-scare and the plants attack him, causing either Batman to escape or personally meet Isley, who refers herself to Poison Ivy. Ivy's plan is revealed that she's attempting to murder all the people who deal with Daggett, including him, due to the fact that they've been destroying rare nature just to build their corrupt business which leads to Batman realizing that his theory is true about Daggett, being not who he seems. As it turns out, Daggett's business is rid with underground crime, laundering, and fraud.
Daggett plans on take over many businesses, one of them being Wayne Enterprises, which Bruce/Batman doesn't realize yet. Daggett needs Hagen to join a gang to take on a hit for one of the businesses, and says if Hagen refuses he'll cut his supply off. So Hagen does so, but the hit attack goes south, and one witness recognizes Hagen, except claims that he looks like Bruce Wayne. With this information, there is a warrant out for Bruce Wayne’s arrest, forcing Bruce as Batman to flee and try to clear his name before things get out of hands. Meanwhile, Daggett has Hagen killed for what he did, as an attempt to avoid half measures. Hagen is presumably killed by being forced to swallow an entirely tank of the beauty cream formula and left for dead, only for his body to turn into clay. Hagen now has become a literal blob who can transform his shape (Imagine a live action version of Tetsuo's mutation (Akira) and Ditto (Pokemon) + the T-1000, but more scary.). Hagen swears revenge on Daggett, but when Poison Ivy hears about him, she decides to cut a deal with him, in which he helps her plan her murder several off the Gotham elites and make her plant growing spree, and she'll give him Daggett to kill.
This can lead to a great showdown with some creepy imagery of Hagen (now called Clayface) and Poison Ivy's monstrous plants attacking the public, and an epic showdown with Batman fighting them. Not really too sure on how Bruce fights Ivy and her plants, but he does create special defense mechanisms for his suit in order to avoid her plants getting the best of him. The fight between Bruce and Clayface however becomes really scary as Bruce sees that Hagan can’t fully concentrate whenever he’s mutating (Leading to some imagery that gives off The Thing). But to some up in short, Batman ends up defeating both Clayface and Poison Ivy, but one of them manages to escape (More than likely Clayface), Daggett is arrested for his crimes, and Bruce Wayne’s name is cleared.”
So there you have it. Basically, this movie can pay homage to 80s monster movies, like The Thing, The Fly and Little Shop of Horrors, mixed with Batman: The Animated Series where I got these stories from. This also sort of gives a more darker take on beauty products, (Though I’m not sure how they’re gonna be able to commercialize that. Like imagine the actress for Poison Ivy saying, “Try the new L’Oréal lipstick, where love can get TOXIC.” or the actor for Clayface advertising for a CHANEL face cream, and the commercial ends saying, “And check out the new Batman movie.”.). One idea I had for how to make a Superman film in this universe was about Clark Kent/Superman dealing with the Intergang after being asked to investigate them by his childhood friend and mayoral candidate, Lex Luther. However it’s all an elaborate plan by Luther to get rid of mayoral opposition and leader of intergang, Bruno Mannheim.

Something that I have been thinking of recently for these batman movies. What about Firefly? He's basically a burned pyromaniac that has a jetpack and a flamethrower. He's a pretty cool villain since it does sound kind of grounded, just a pyro with a jetpack and a flamethrower.

I honestly would love to see Mr. Freeze as the main villain in The Batman sequel. I agree the title should be called Heart of The Batman based on Heart of Ice from Batman TAS. Not only would I want this movie to be based on Heart of Ice from Batman TAS, but also Batman: Subzero. Plus, I would love to see the movie take place during the Holiday season and have the GCPD blimps like in the animated series, because of the flooded lakes being frozen and it’s fucking dangerous driving on ice. I would love to see Batman update his suit to a more blue and grey based on the DC Rebirth comics and I also would love to see him use Batarangs in the sequel. For Mr. Freeze’s suit, I would love it to be a mix of a bomb suit, an old diver suit, with a more hazmat look but a bit more like cryogenic protective suit and a comic accurate suit with the goggles and freeze ray. Also for the role of Mr. Freeze, I would love to see Giancarlo Esposito, Ralph Fiennes, or Bryan Cranston.

I think making clayface's movie "Face of the Batman" is a smart move because then our eventual two-face movie will have to be something along the lines of "Duality of the Batman" which automatically sets it up to be a story more centered on Bruce grappling with having to be both Bruce and The Batman, perhaps it's set up as a two-face movie but the real antagonist is the inconsistencies between his two lives or something idk I dropped out of film school for a reason

I really like mr. Bloom as concept for batman villain. Yeah, maybe it's not the most original, mad scientist turned into monster, and not the most popular villain & story arc, but they could make him more of a body horror movie with trippy colorful tone. It would be pretty different I think in terms of color tone, but the vibes of dark detective action would still be there. Especially, now under Gunn's leadership at DC, more obscure characters could be fun. At least, cameo of condiment king

My personal number one choice is still Mad Hatter I think he would be such a different and interesting antagonist for this Batman, seeing him deal with mind control and hostage situations where he has to choose how to save
Otherwise I would love to see Scarface and the Ventriloquist, a very interesting duo presenting a unique challenge to Batman as he tries to save Wesker from himself, really focus on this idea that in this film Batman is becoming the Knight
After all, the first film was about vengeance, so a sequel becoming a knight fits, then he can finally become the Batman as an homage to that famous mantra
Love your pitches, Hugo Strange is my favourite of yours, there are so many different directions this universe could go I would love to see just about anything, the only villain I absolutely do not want to see is Joker. I know he exists in the world but leave him on the bench, give the other rogues a chance to shine, we have some that need on screen redemption still (Freeze and Ivy in particular) and others that need their first big screen interpretation (Prometheus and Firefly would be a great duo for example and especially Mad Hatter)

Regardless I pray whoever directs it has big plans for Superman as the character deserves an entire saga of Superman films.
Not to mention develop Henry's Clark Kent as he was just starting out as Superman last we saw him, I hope wee aalso expand and explore Superman's world, give Metropolis a retro futuristic 1960s bright ecstatic, and make Metropolis as a character as Gotham is. Totally agree with his take on Joker in the Reeves verse. It'd be great for him to appear in each movie- still behind bars- but someone who is like an equal to Bruce who helps him with cases (like in the deleted scene) but always tempts him and is meant to symbolize what Bruce could become if he ever crossed that line. Using Joker as more of a metaphor of Bruce's fears throughout this whole trilogy would be pretty clever imo

I really like the realistic atmosphere of the film. Maybe that's why, sadly, we won't be able to see some villains that wouldn't work well since part of their essence is something unreal (Mr. Freeze wouldn't be Mr. Freeze without that state that forces him to live in sub-zero temperatures, for example). example). But here I have a few ideas of how some of these villains could be adapted.
Scarecrow. His clothing is just rags, he wears a bandana with a sinister smile because that was the design when he bought it, and a huge straw hat. For his fear toxin, he mostly uses syringes and is still experimenting to perfect his formula.
Mad Hatter. A scientist who loves the Alice in Wonderland book and is an expert in neuroscience. When he begins his crimes, he discovers that the best way to hide the device that allows him to control his devices is with hats, so he starts wearing top hats like the Hatter from the book that he admires so much.
Ventriloquist. Fortunately it is not necessary to make many changes. The poor guy is a schizophrenic who commits crimes. What I would change is that it is very rare to see him next to the doll. He always leaves him sitting and pretending that the doll is talking to him. Scarface's personality is cruel and the closest thing to a true unscrupulous underworld boss. If he has any henchmen other than Wesker, they don't know that Scarface is a dummy, but the Ventriloquist's skill is so good and the results are enough to convince them to obey without asking questions about who the mysterious boss is.
Poison Ivy. I've always liked the TAS version of Batman where she's a scientist, not a human-plant hybrid with powers. She could be a botanist specializing in rare, very rare or practically extinct plants. For her crimes, she would use poisons from less common plants, so it would be very difficult or even impossible to obtain an antidote.

Personally Mr. Freeze is my number one choice for a villain in the second movie, I feel he can be a mob enforcer who works for The Penguin, who kills people by hitting them with a toxin that makes them cold and slowly freezes them to death
Essentially, it’d be the story of a once innocent man becoming a monster because he’s obsessed with saving his wife, with Bruce seeing why he became a villain, with him seeing that he should do more as Bruce Wayne to improve Gotham, to stop others from becoming like Freeze, it’d really put this more sympathetic Batman that was set up in the first one to the test! So yeah that’s my basic pitch for The Batman 2

Dude- I'm loving your pitches. I especially love the fact that you're matching characters to create conflicts that impact Bruce/Batman's overall character arc.
Have you decided on the over arching structure of this franchise? My mind defaults to putting in "phases" that concentrate on different era's of the Bat-verse containing about four movies and a grouping of streaming shows.
Eg: Phase 1- Batman years 1-6 , phase 2- Batman & Robin, phase 3- Birth of the Bat Family (Batgirl, Jason Todd), phase 4- A death in the family/ Drake... etc.
I mean, that's the way my mind sees a viable roadmap. How would you do it? On the assumption that this is a Batman centric franchise that concentrates on Gotham's heroes and villains, all branching out from The Batman.

I like the idea of a universe where we can introduce darker versions of comic villains especially the obscure ones that many of us aren't familiar with. I loved your final point about how the core of every villain despite doing pretty evil things all originates from fear and desperation. The end where you revealed the plot twist with the man-bat actually being female could genuinely be a plot point used for future movies. Enjoyed this video and want you to know you just earned a sub.
