      @thenudebrewer7466 Před 4 lety +32

      @@rahulonwater I have various experience in film. I'll tell you a quick story of how I *first* learned about it, in the same way you're saying "wow, I never thought of that." It's that my dad was a big fan of the old TV show "Leave it to Beaver."
      He was watching some retrospective in the late 80s or something and they were talking about those "glory days" of TV and the topic of when and why they decided to end the show. One reason was the show was fundamentally about the boys being YOUNG ... and they were grown up.
      The other was that color TV was taking over and filming in color required so much more lighting that the production didn't want to spend the money. This was actually true for A LOT of shows around that time, the extra lighting that was required to film in color was just not part of their budget and the Fat Cats that paid for things balked at the price to update an OLD show. They'd spend the money on a NEW show, but the old shows were basically written off due to a technology shift. When I first learned all of this, I also said "wow... I never thought of that." I just assumed everyone thought color was OBVIOUSLY better, so they all switched. A lot of people lost their jobs because many shows didn't switch, they were just cancelled and it was because filming in color costs A LOT more money.
      Hope that helps! :^)

      Read the book Stranger in a Strange Land. One of the main take aways is that people don't laugh at truly good things. For those they smile. You laugh at the messed up parts of life. A baby hits their day with a bottle is heartwarming but still a violent act. Animals doing messed up things, people getting hurt, nasty things even though child friendly jokes are not really positive. Even when you finally get something good that makes you laugh think if you're laughing at the good thing or more likely the struggle or pain it took to get the good thing.

      @@neelmoudgil4962 oh for sure. Black ppl have known it all too well for many generations really, and they've been telling everyone else "hey these police officers are abusing us and killing us!" and some white people listened but only a few. Now though it feels like there has been a shift in awareness. Its a start but not nearly enough.

    It’s amazing that over the past few decades we laugh at these jokes and jam to music like hip hop, but always seem to miss the message. I think it’s hard to understand different cultures, but we all want the same things. We don’t blend our cultures, we just ‘coexist’. When different races learn of other cultures, it typically through a movie, that fills every stereotype imaginable. We all have our own sob stories filled with bitterness, but we need to find the compassion to help each other let it go. So many talented people, and most don’t realize those jokes are based off of life lessons. Stay happy and healthy people! Hopefully, over the next few decades we can spend our energy building up communities, instead of finding ways to tear them down.

      @Renee51 Před 4 lety +5

      It is not hard to understand different cultures, especially black culture. Whites and Blacks have been around each other for hundreds of years. If you have ever listened to, Ice T's earlier rap songs, NWA songs, or any rapper talking about the police. Then you have heard the message. The problem is that, when it's not happening to you, most people don't care , and lend a deaf ear and a blind eye.

    • @akoglocko1
      @akoglocko1 Před 4 lety

      Renee S Yep, but most non-blacks, vice versa, learn about “culture” by the way media or politicians interpret the information, then deliver the wrong message. No matter the political party “leading”. Ice-T was targeted when he came out with “Cop Killer” (he wasn’t talking about all cops) they took away his 1st Amendment rights, removed the original song from the album, debated how his “use of explicit lyrics” needed to be censored, but was the message wrong? This was in the early ‘90s, what has changed? Mob Rule ignored our guaranteed rights, because it’s unpopular speech. We all have rights, and we all need to defend those precious rights guaranteed the day we were born. Coming together towards the positives will benefit us all.

      I'm white and I don't ever want to "not see color" -- black skin represents an entire cultural heritage, a history of adversity and overcoming adversity, and being strong and united in brotherhood and sisterhood. I would like a world where differences are respected, but everyone is treated as equals. There is much to be done to get there. I hold onto the belief we can still get there.

    • @Mebble
      @Mebble Před 4 lety

      @@nutmusic3747 indeed, and the "not seeing of color" is a big reason why some folks dont realize that racism is still alive and well just because it isnt happening to them. its important to recognize and celebrate our differences over acting like they don't exist and turning a blind eye to all the issues that arise from the ignorance

Individuals- who should be even more scared of using strength, as they are rpresentatives of Power, and should be completely and utterly sure, they DO need to use it, or they shouldn't use it at all- but instead those people revel in what was given to them along with badge and uniform, and clearly do not know, what said things really mean... And worst part is- they make the rest look like a bad guys as well... I am sure that Gorge Floyd wouldn't want to be cause of some random officer's death, just because he happens to wear same thing, his killer did...
