This country girl is ready for the big city! Well, at least she thought she was. Mitsumi’s dream is to attend a prestigious school and make the world a better place. I don't really know what I mean by this, but this show feels so much more... human, than a lot of other slice of life animes.

I think it has something to do with how the characters aren't really stereotyped.
Like you might get that idea at first, but then realize that... they're all people and they're capable of change. They don't feel one-dimensional.
It makes it so refreshing to watch.
2 main reasons.
1 is that every character has strengths, flaws, desires, problems, and tastes that make them genuinely happy.
And not "flaws" in the "HEY look at me I've got qUiRks!" type way or problems in the "I'm soo sAd and deprEssed because of sad-backstory reasons" where it's almost like obligatory that the audience feel bad otherwise be labeled heartless or something.
This may seem like a rather simple concept that should be the norm, but more shows go the "qUirky = good" or "sympathize or else" route then you'd realize. It's the reason I couldn't ever really connect with a single student character in MHA on a simply human basis despite getting to know like nearly all of their backstories, hobbies, and personality quirks etc. Same with the villains even despite all the obligatory sad backstory stuff.
2 is that the show has good subtext. We as viewers simply just observe the characters being themselves and the show doesn't try to tell us what some thought or action means for the character. A character does a thing, and we are simple left to interpret it how we will.
Again, another pretty simple concept but it goes a long way. Again too many shows just try to jump straight into flashbacks or monologues about a character reflecting on their problems or their past etc.
All the character context we are given is simply in the present and the show leaves it to us to put the pieces together simply through observing the characters and their reactions to each other. A character is defined by their *actions* and *reactions* and that's all we need as viewers. It just cheapens the experience when a show tries to hold our hand and tell us what means what via monologue and backstory upon just meeting the character.
It's also worth mentioning that it also isn't one of those shows which tries to beg for relateability either just showing off the characters hobbies to say "HEY LOOK! This character cooks food independently! This character paints! This character likes Jennifer Lawrence! (Looking at u JJK)" Characters simply doing real life things doesn't make them truly connective. It's the WHY and the impact of those things on their daily life which gives them meaning.
Skip and Loafer, as well as a handful of others, should not be taken for granted.
Probs a funny comparison at first glance, but Chainsaw Man does this beautifully too, even if not to give the warm fuzzy vibes lol...
Yeah because all the women in the show aren't fake lizard people like lucky star.
Insomniacs after School is also very genuine

I really really love that they took the time to make their moves slightly not synchronized
I like to interpret it as "two people are independently jamming to their own vibes, and those vibes happen to compliment each other."
It's sort of in the same realm as the hand parts from Wotakoi, but Wotakoi's feels a bit more "planned" by the characters while Skip&Loafer's feels more "improvized" by the characters if that makes any sense.
@overhauledunderpaid6469it’s never that easy. Absolutely they had references of people doing this choreography, but to make it look this smooth and human like, they had to animate it by hand.
My sister is a 3D animator for a kids show, she was actually animating a 6 second scene of two kids doing the most simple of dances, and it took her a full day just doing that. She also had to record herself doing the dance since her studio doesn’t have the budget for actual references lol.

this anime reminds me dearly of kimi ni todoke just a simple little anime nothing extreme or special about it just simple and wholesome for everyone to enjoy
the director actually worked on a few episodes of kimi ni todoke! you can see the influence
They also have the same colored uniforms, that's what reminded me of Kimi ni todoke 😁

I do the 3 episode rule too when watching new anime!! 😁 and yes, I became hooked after watching the 1st ep
I had little doubt that this show would be a bit different but episode 3 definitely solidified it for me as peak show

the dance is truly so wholesome, eyes locked on each, focusing on each other only. It was filled with so much love and joy. I love it.
This anime has the soft 90/2000’s shoujo feeling I’ve been craving. It’s a sweet story about friendship and funny moments and I’m only 3 episodes in and know it’s gonna be my comfort show.
THE MOST WHOLESOME OP OF THE DECADE, Love it so much, especially the dancing and goofiness!
I have replayed this opening an unhealthy amount of times and I'll admit it , especially the part where they dance , she's a country bumpkin " i think!! " and her dancing is just so care free and just is so her and I'm so obsessed she reminds me sm of Akebi from Akebi-Chan No Sailor-Fuku

There’s something really special about this OP
This intro made me so so happy as soon as I watched it. All I felt was warm and fuzzy. I immediately started watching the show and I am NOT disappointed. It’s wholesome, it’s cute, it’s slice of life! I love how the show isn’t extremely formulaic like a lot of shows I watch (usually western) and it tackles relatable problems in a realistic way. Such as “What do you do when you’ve had a disagreement with a friend? If you both want to resolve the issue do you just move on and brush it to the side or have an conversation?”
I’m so excited for the next episode! I really love all the characters so far

The first episode really got my attention. It was so pleasant and calming, but also kinda chaotic.
This show has me smiling ear to ear, every episode. Full of happy chemicals.
Some of the most normal looking anime without magic and such has the most heart in it. All people have to do is stick with it long enough to see. I feel like this is going to be a good one. 💕

This show is criminally underrated.
I’ve watched a lot of anime throughout my life, and usually when I start a new one I watched the intro the first episode to see how it is, if it’s really good I’ll watch it a couple of times.
However, I’ve watched the entirety of Skip and Loafer available at the moment, and I did not skip the intro even once, it always made me just so happy and warm inside, the song, the animation, and my goodness that dance scene, it’s just perfection.
Heck, I even rewatch just the intro here on CZcams for the sole enjoyment of it.
is no one gonna talk about how well animated that dance part was!? the fluid movements, the clothing folds, expressions, EVERYTHING IS SO BEAUTIFUL

I really didnt expect sousuke to look up to mitsumi! tbh in other slice of life animes it feels like the same thing is happening over and over again but in this story its all changing. It is very wholesome. Tbh I myself am jealous of the friends mitsumi has!!
