- The Profumo Affair was a major political scandal in the United Kingdom during the early 1960s. It centered around John Profumo, the Secretary of State for War in the Conservative government, who had an affair with Christine Keeler, a 19-year-old model. The scandal became particularly serious when it was revealed that Keeler may have simultaneously been involved with a Soviet naval attaché, Yevgeny Ivanov.
This raised concerns about national security risks and the potential for blackmail, given the Cold War context. Profumo initially denied the affair in a statement to the House of Commons, but later admitted to it and resigned from his position and from Parliament. The fallout from the scandal rocked the British government and contributed to the Conservative Party's defeat in the 1964 general election. It also led to a wider discussion about morality and personal conduct of public officials in the UK.

Now its rumoured that prince Philip was linked to the profumo women.
wouldnt be surpised
Who killed Stephen Ward, available on Amazon, is an interesting book. It questions if Ward's death was really suicide. It also goes into detail about the people and the events of the time which give greater insight to just how closely the establishment and politics was linked.
Well done!!!!
Awesome content. Thanks!
Great video
Lucky Gordon's involvement merited mention in Malcolm X's autobiography.
Mandy Rice Davies had a cameo in the episode of Absolutely Fabulous where Edina and Patsy go to hospital.
Keeler seemed a bit neurotic in her interview.....
Interesting Story
Fascinating story, I was in London in 1963 when the whole country was in a titter with the scandal. Too bad you use the crass American robot voice - many mispronunciations - it’s ProfYOUmo, not ProFOOmo, and it’s MosCOE, not MosCOW (rhyming with NOW or HOW).
Great, except for the robotic voice.
This depiction of this story is too superficial. There is a lot more to the events & people involved here than is touched on by the post.
Only humans allowed...boring and incorrect..grrrr
My kinda women.
