For all of the arm chair mechanics out there saying I'm the worst person in the world for not draining the cooler. I drained the cooler the next time it came in and like an 1/8 of a quart came out. You aren't getting every drop of oil out with a change. Trust me getting 95% and filter out is pretty darn good.
I have a 2016 scat pack. I never knew about the cooler. Where is that plug located
@@Michael-ti3xxit’s only on the Hellcats
This video helped me alot. My car payments/insurance make it hard for me to get basic maintenance done because of the cost, but this video helped me a lot. I can now do it myself to save some money. My hellcat is already a money pit but it’s well worth it
Such a cool car! Thanks for watching!
I can vouche for the upcharge on the SRT Hellcat Charger. I had an SRT Charger and the oil changes were $100. Now that I have an SRT Hellcat its been $129 no matter where I went, hence why I'm here. Never again now that I see its so simple and I have the time to do it myself. Appreciate the video.
I just changed my own for 60.
@@HappyHarryHardon yea, that's the plan bud. Appreciate the info 💯
Thanks for watching!
Dude you rock,2021 chally red-eye wide,1000 miles . I change oil then put in track mode ,it's smoke city!!!
Thanks for watching Chris!
Thanks for the video got to see where everything is very clear too 💪🏾 im going to try some royal purple oil and filter
Very cool! Thanks for watching!
Royal purple👎🏿
Good video! Btw… I didn’t see the link for the oil plug washer gasket?
Great vid! Never forget to drain the oil coolers on the hellcats! Other than that, great work!
Yeah I figured the cooler runs down into the pan anyway so it didn't need draining. Since I put in the amount Dodge says and it's correct on the stick I assumed I got it all. But yeah next time! Thanks for watching!
Good vid
Learning as much as I can so I can do it myself to save money 🥴
Nice! Thanks for watching!
This is so clear picture.
Thanks for watching!
Always use a Mopar replacement filter, but I get where you're coming from lol he's gonna keep coming back to you for maintenance upkeep as long as you do the little things the way he wants them done.
I would too and I told him that. I'm sure it's fine with the FRAM anyhow. We are doing the old changes every 5k anyhow. Thanks for watching Kevin!
@@2carpros it's an honor and privilege brother to watch you do your magic. For that thank you man
How long do you think it will take to just swap out filter?
Fram oil filter the worst for the engines 👎 but thank you for your video and your time excellent 👍👍👍👍👍🍺😎
FRAM is alright. I'd go for the Mopar replacement personally. Thanks for watching!
I doubt the dealer drains the cooler. I think you risk damaging the cooler every time you screw with it. I recommend buying the filter from the dealer and sticking with recommended oil brand.
I drained the cooler the next time it came in and like an 1/8 of a quart came out. Thanks for watching!
One thing I don't understand/hate about some manufacturers is why don't they do like VW/MB that have the filter on top so you can easily do it with the oil extractor without jacking up the car.
As far as not understanding on why/how to add oil to a side mount filter. If you add oil to the filter and let it sit for awhile. It disappeared as it is absorbed into the element and won't run out.
Really? Every drop? That's amazing!
Then I have people crying that it isn't enough oil in the filter. There is no win for me on this.
Is that the stock redeye intake? I’m thinking about buying the DC c0nnection redeye air box for my 22 reg hellcat.
It is the stock Hellcat non redeye intake. Thanks for watching!
@@2carpros sweet
Did you drain the oil cooler? Didn't see that
7 quarts came out. The capacity is 7 quarts. If there is any oil left in there it is very minimal. Thanks for watching!
I honestly don't understand what the onwer's thinkin' with that Fram...
Also, was it me, or was that new filter smaller/shorter?
I recommended the SRT Mopar oil filter I linked in the description but it's his car so we are doing it that way. Thanks for watching!
Have you been using Mobil1 for awhile? That oil looked pretty bad when you took off the plug. Use pennzoil plantinum 0w-40 or personally I’d use amsoil.
It's all API SN so it's basically the same thing. Thanks for watching!
@@2carpros I’d personally use API SN approved 0W-20 for better fuel economy and API SN approved 10W-40 synthetic blend Coastal Oil if you want to drive your car hard. API SN approved AMSOIL Signature Series and RedLine Oil is not the same thing as API SN approved O’Reilys oil. You’re comparing diamonds to copper in that regard but hey they’re both the same because they’re both strong…….
The manual says use 0w-40 Pennzoil or an equivalent. If you have any factory powertrain warranty remaining, best to at least use a 0w-40 oil, Pennzoil or not, to keep any future warranty claims from becoming unnecessarily complicated. Better to use what Dodge recommends specifically because this is a race car and I don’t think owner is driving it normal with that beauty engine in it.
Was the oil supposed to be that dark 🌑 is that normal with race cars
Yep. The oil goes dark super quick on this car. Thanks for watching!
With no torque wrench I try to simulate how ever many foot pounds are needed and put that much pressure one foot from the pivot point on the ratchet so something that needs 20 foot pounds with a 12 inch ratchet I'd put 20 pounds of pressure at the end of the ratchet or 40 pounds at the end of a 6 inch ratchet or 10 pounds of a 24 inch ratchet. That should keep you from stripping threads unless you are really bad at estimating weight. I wouldn't use that system if I was rebuilding engines but for drain plugs and accessories I don't mind the risk. But usually I just tighten until I think it's tight enough.
Yep. Tight is good enough most of the time. Thanks for watching!
300th like
Wow I'll be honest, I thought you would have to remove the supercharger to change the oil like you do on the shakers
Haha Dodge would have a super tough time explaining why every oil change is 700 bucks if that were the case. Thanks for watching!
What’s the torque for the oil pan bolt? 😂
20 foot pounds according to Dodge. Thanks for watching!
@@2carpros I was kindding😂 you said in the video to ask you anyways
First!
Super!
Should have gotten a K&N
I like the Mopar one but the K&N is probably good as well. Thanks so much for watching!
Working with watch in your wrist not to safe
Why isn't it too safe?
@@2carpros Not too safe for the watch when that oil filter came off 😁
it is required to drain the oil cooler
I drained the cooler next time and only like a 1/16 of a quart came out. I don't think so but I'm sure someone will be along shortly to yell at me. Thanks for watching!
Draining the oil cooler is required and you really should be getting more oil out of it than you did. It’s where that “7th quart hides. 🙂
@@georgejones9308shouldn’t rts, scat packs, and hellcats be taking 7 1/2 quarts, due to low oil lubrication issues
European car formula oil? 🤔
It's going to explode!!!!!!
Haha no, I'm just joking with you. That's just a marketing term Mobile 1 uses to push it's oil on luxury car owners. But it is great oil and the correct application here. Thanks for watching!
@@2carpros 😂 bought my hellcat a few months ago so im doing my own oil change now. thanks for the vid.
@@Jake__X i don’t own a hellcat but I’ve been using mobile 1 in my scat pack for 40k miles now and I believe before pennzoil mobile 1 was actually the recommended oil for dodge back then
A lot of manufacturers recommend ZINC in your oil now. I believe European oil already has it in it.
For right hand drive cars
Why you wearing your apple watch while changing the filter 🙁
Because I need to know what time it is! Thanks for watching!
@@2carpros no I mean like the oil was dropping on the watch. But nice vid it was helpful and I learned something.❤️👌
My heart hurt seeing the Fram filter
They were the only ones available at the time due to the thing in 2020. Thanks for watching!
All oils are not the same Mobil is a good oil but pennzoil ultra is better the only oil that beat pennzoil ultra is amsoil it been tested and a proven fact .don’t believe me search project farm motor oil test here on CZcams he tested all the brands from high heat to extreme cold and metal wear and amsoil won follow by pennzoil ultra Mobil wasn’t in the top 5 and he also tested did a test on all the top brands oil filters and Fram was almost dead last. Look up Project farm on CZcams and watch
Love project farm! As I said in the video the owner of this Hellcat wanted to use the Fram. I would have used the Dodge part. But hey we are all different. Thanks for watching!
FRAM….noooooooooo😭 spend 80k on a car but uses the cheapest stuff. Yes it does it’s job but not that well.
The owner is a huge FRAM fan so here we go. I wanted to use MOPAR oem but hey the customer is always right. Thanks for watching!
@@2carpros I appreciate the video! I just bought a Hellcat so I needed the knowledge..
