Aw thank you for the list :D
I’m watching this video on a white iPhone 12 mini 256GB
I’m watching this from a 256 GB iPhone 14 Pro Max in Deep Purple.
Maybe you should give me the s8 instead of disposing it
Not surprised for the iPhone 6 considering it was a massive hit in 2014.
Wasnt it MrWhoIsTheBoss who had major issues with his stored samsung phones all having a swelling battery?
Yeah , @mrwhosetheboss, Arun had a video about Samsung phones bloating even when they are in perfect condition storage. I had my Samsung note 3 and 4 removable batteries and they were pregnant and about to give birth. Had to discard those before they start to explode in my drawer. That would be scary as hell...
It wasn’t just mrwhoestheboss
In mrwhoestheboss’ video he talked to multiple other CZcamsrs who all had the same problem across different climates
Who all have large phone collections.
It was either a vast majority of problem phones being Samsung or all their problem phones being Samsung
Many youtubers have issues, but I have many samsung phones in storage for as long as 8years and none of them have swellef batteries, so maybe they store the phones at 0% ?
@@vidpetrovic8907 pretty sure mrwhoestheboss said he keeps them all at a safe level of charge
It’s fully possible that you store phones and they never have a problem, and someone else stores phones and they do. It’s completely random..
@@vidpetrovic8907I’ve had a number of issues with Samsungs and batteries, motherboards and stuff and it’s one of the reasons I jumped ship to iOS
2017 with the Galaxy S8 and iPhone X is the last year I can think of when excitement was actually there with a new phone launch. It's been kinda downhill from there
the note 7 is my all time favorite smartphone design ever
same
Same
Same and also S8
Explosive even!
Banger design
Regarding the iPhone 5S and the A7 SoC, the 64-bit aspect was not a major factor in the massive performance gains over the A6 SoC. Rather, the ARMv8 ISA brought substantial improvements, but most importantly, Apple pursued an extremely wide architecture, allowing it to achieve high instructions per clock, even compared to desktop CPUs.
Still using my SE 1st Gen and 6s whenever i feel like travelling down memory lane. I owned a 5s and a 4s and handed it down to my teenage son and now it's kaput 😭. I still believe that a phone's life depends on it's owner. I never broke a phone in my life. Still even have my old school Nokias in my drawer. And i still charge them from time to time. But because i love the feel of a square phone, i kept my SE Gen 1 in pristine condition. It's actually the reason why i bought a 12 pro. It feels so nostalgic. As of now i use color correction and turn my SE and 6s into an ebook reader. Coming from the Philippines, where most of the population buy used iphones (due to it being soooo expensive) , i only upgrade once every 2 to 3 years. 🧡🧡🧡
Everyone should do this
I've had iPhone 3GS, Nokia N70, iPhone 4, iPhone 8 Plus, Nokia 5230, Nokia 6600 from these and liked every one from those. Currently using an iPhone SE 2020.
So far how is your experience with your se?
I’m still rocking the iPhone 11 here. Replaced the battery a month ago too. I’m rather glad this had the LCD instead if OLED, given how long I’ve had this thing for. I feel zero desire to replace this right now. It does what I need, and is still plenty speedy.
As much as I miss being able to install unsigned apps, and adding things via iTunes royally sucks, the longevity is what made the decision.
Oh wow same is the iPhone 11 you're using as your main right now or secondary as most people i know use it as their secondary nowadays
And i use the iPhone 11 too
@@DarkLatexKing Main phone.
@@Lauren_C same :>
I had an iPhone 11 that I got still sealed from Argos UK last year. Had to let it go and get the SE 3 as it's smaller and lighter (i suffer from chronicles pain) Both phones are plenty good enough still. I much prefer the old display as it doesn't make my eyes ache
xs max is better and its screen is still perfect and waaaaaaay ahead of the 11´s also 3d touch
The iPhone 6 absolutely didn’t deserve to be the best selling iPhone. It had way too many issues and it was easily the worst phone I’ve ever owned.
For real tho
iPhone 6s deserved it better
iPhone 6 was my favourite phone I ever owned, design felt futuristic as hell at release, bigger screen, camera was great at the time, used it for six years without issue
@@mackstewart4203 I disagree
@@DarkLatexKing For Real
i hate it when people associated my 6s which lasted me more than 7 years with the base 6. My friend’s base 6 was such a pile of crap with terrible camera and a support that only extended to iOS 12.8 while my 6s made it to 15.8. If it wasn’t for the lack of storage that 32 GB variant was, i would’ve kept the 6s to this day with me.
The bend gate issues with the base 6 and other quality issues made the situation even worse.
Upgraded to a 15 Pro max on 17th April. It’s like a whole new galaxy. The enhancements compared to the 6s are out of this world.
My dear 6s, you will always have a special place in my heart.
I had a Nokia 6600 back then, great phone. There were tons of apps developed by people. I remember a Gameboy Color emulator that ran at full speed.
Didn't used any of these but I did use actual most sold phone in history Nokia 1100 back in 2005 my dad had one.
My first phone when I was 13! Loved that thing
Wait what did u use if not any of these??
He already mentioned it in their comment. Its the Nokia 1100 @@KOMARMSG
@@vMattv no he mentioned his dad had it in 2005, im like confused at how he managed to not use any of these phones cuz they were so popular
@@KOMARMSG even me, i never owned these phones in this video. I only owned not so popular phones from nokia, sony and samsung
I had a battery explode in an electronic device once, not a smartphone, the Focus V Carta dabbing e-rig. The batteries inside were extremely hot to where I couldn’t touch it, dropped the battery, it began to smoke and make a crackling sound, then it caught on fire and I had to put it out quickly with water, it was crazy and panic inducing.
It’s surprising that the 6s sold as much as it did given that the 6 had sold so well the year before.
Where are the blackberries?
And google pixels
The Nokia N70 and other Symbian devices of the era were smartphones because their operating system was open, and 3rd party developers could write native .sis applications. Other non smartphone devices could still install java apps and browse the internet. On the N70 you could have native apps such as - custom mp3 players with equalizer, winrar, office suite (excel, word processing documents etc), a flashlight app and a lot of emulators. And many other native apps that I never tried.
Excellent music choice !!! The persona series has one of the best sound tracks in any videogame !
Loved the vid & learned a lot!
The Galaxy s6 was honestly the first android phone i ever wanted at all. It's absolutely GORGEOUS, to this day it has this sort of magical glow to it to me.
Great Video Josh! Brings back good memories of times past.
Great effort and superb video Josh.
I remember walking down the bottle water isle in Walmart and saw some lady talking on the original galaxy note. I think it came out like 2 weeks prior. I was shocked at how big it was.
That must be why she was shopping at Walmart
I always appreciate these videos, you deserve way more subs
Fire phone jumpscare! That was my first ever phone back in 2014!
I had a windows phone. We definitely backed the wrong horses.
Good informative history about the smartphone industry. Thanks!
Just wondering… why are these phones (not just here - or maybe they’re stock images?) so often taken against trees or logs - often sitting on wood?
Just curious!
That Huawei P20 Pro is the only Android phone I ever owned, and it was wonderful; the software felt very iOS-like, which was very controversial but convenient for me, and the photos were stunning, it’s still my favorite camera experience I’ve ever had in a phone. I would have kept using Huawei devices had it not been for the Google ban, so I just went back to the trustworthy boring old IPhone
I remember articles back in the day saying like 5c is basically cheap 5s or something and its counted together
I remember being wowed by fingerprint readers. It was amazing technology at the time. Now, I much prefer FaceID, but back then unlocking my phone with a fingerprint was like sci-fi stuff! 😂
I had my 6 Plus from launch. It kept going no problem, even after getting run over by 2 cars and an 18 wheeler truck! With a few blown pixels, it was fine till I upgraded at the 8 Plus launch. I’m still using my 8 Plus as it does all I need, has the perfect 16:8 screen without the crappy PWM of OLED, which I and 10% of all people can’t tolerate.
Wow! Being used to my 15 Plus, the bezels on the X's look huge! 😭
Same. Im using my 15 pro max ultra with 1petabyte fully paid here in philippines
I HAD THE HUAWEI P20 LITE FOR SOME YEARS IT WAS A TOP TIER PHONE!!! I EVEN DROPPED IT FROM A VERY HIGH HEIGHT AND IT SURVIVED WITH ALMOST NO SCRATCHES (got slightly bent on the sim card tray) TRULY AN AMAZING PHONE!!!
at first i was like "wtf iphone 6????" bc i thought it would be the nokia 1100 but than i read the title again
I absolutely LOVED my iphone 6S rose gold phone lol I had this phone until 2 months ago it was just sitting in my drawer and gave it to my 11 y/o niece as her first iPhone. I never had any issues with it although people were saying they had bad battery drain but not me. She was so happy and this phone will be with her until her mom decides to upgrade it. I have had every Iphone since the 3GS and this one was my absolute favorite.
iPhone 4 was the first iPhone I bought. Got it from my friend for $400 with a bad ESN. Flashed it to MetroPCS and it pretty much sucked when I wasn’t on Wi-Fi. iPhone 6 Plus was the first iPhone I bought brand new. Is jump in screen size from 3.5 inches to 5.5“. Bent it from keeping it in my back pocket. Traded it in when I switched from Verizon to T-Mobile. iPhone X I bought off a whim. Went in buying a charger and came out spending more money than I intended. Had it for 22 months until I switched over to the iPhone 11. Not a day goes by I wish I had kept my phone and not sold it. iPhone 13 mini was the iPhone that made me realize I didn’t need a iPhone Pro Max. Battery lasted me the whole day and it never slowed down. Only reason I traded it in to get the new one was because I was starting to go back to school in person And the battery couldn’t keep up anymore. I also owned an iPhone 6s Plus, 7+,11, 12 Pro Max , 14 Pro Max and 15 Pro Max. Pretty much been an iPhone boy from the start. The one time I decided to switch to android was when I got the galaxy note 7. And we all know how that ended up.
Watching on iphone 6
That’s an obsolete phone now according to apple … do banking apps still work on that phone ?
15:30 tbh I'm still very happy that xiaomi flagships still come with ir blasters, its surprisingly useful for me particularly. It comes bundled with the most comprehensive ir remote app I've ever seen on a phone with the feature with presets for thousands of devices. I found someone giving away a free 40 inch tv but they lost the remote. No problem, I'll just use my phone. AC unit in my apartment? Well the remote is here but... EW what the hell did the previous tenant do to it?!?! Disgusting! That's fine tho, my phone works instead.
You know it’s always a good day when Josh makes a new video
iphone 15 pro max, iphone 12 pro, iphone x, iphone 7, iphone 6, iphone 5s, iphone 5, iphone 4s, iphone 4, iphone 3gs, nokia n95, sony ericsson k750i, samsung brick, motorola brick
We still love nokia 6600
We still use Nokia 6600
@@Abaddon92 nah
The S8 is such a beautiful phone. Especially the front. The samsungs before that isn't even close design-wise. I still use the S6 edge as a work phone, but only to take calls with. There is nothing to it that makes me want to pick it up and use it in any other way. And I don't feel that they done a more good looking phone after either. Maybe the S9.
iPhone 5 was so amazing. If they made a version with the same body but with the same screens/frontside as the iPhone 15 Pro, I’d buy it in a heartbeat
It’s surprising to me just how many of these phones I owned over the years. The last phone I bought was a 12 Pro Max nearly 4 years ago now. It’s still buttery smooth and runs fine. Battery life is diminished so I more than likely will upgrade this year due to necessity vs the new “wow” factor
You could also just replace the battery
I miss the design and feeling of the 6s and the 3DTouch
Even I owned an iPhone 6 for a year or two as a second phone - the problems were quite noticeable, especially since it was a few years old at that point. But yeah, if you were following tech back then, the hype was unreal. Other iPhones were hyped, but nothing on that level - one of my favourite youtube videos to this day is iJustine camping out of the Apple store for *two days* to be first.
The iPhone X and XS Max were the prettiest iPhones of all time. The vertical cameras just looked so much classier than the current. I mean I love my 15 Plus, bit the X's were SO pretty.
Galaxy S6 was not controversial at all, that phone was phenomenal and much loved. Also very popular since they ditched the plastic/cheap materials. I did remember some people being upset that they could no longer remove the back to replace the battery easily but I rather have a premium look over that any day
42:31 Whats going on with the needle on Safari on the Xs Max?
It points in the direction like a real compass
@@I-See-In-The-Dark was it a feature on old iOS versions (can’t remember this besing a feature) or is this a custom app icon?
The phone was jailbroken as cydia in the home screen and he install tweaks I think?
@@yimmuyoverlooked that. Thanks!
I have a Samsung Galaxy A23 5G. Got it for my birthday last year. Best phone I ever had. I love it.
I'm sad that none of the Samsung Notes made it to the list. As for the s5, I think the sales were disappointing. That's probably why they went with the radical design with the s6
iPhone 3G, Galaxy Ace, iPhone 5, iPhone SE, Xiaomi 8, Poco F2 pro , OnePlus Nord 2, Xiaomi 14.
Stopped buying iPhones when they got too expensive (in my opinion). The phone I am using now is the most expensive I've ever had. 685€ for the 512 GB model.
There is no upgrade feeling like it was in the wilder years. But if you do not need the best secondary sensors you can get now a truly good phone for under 500 bucks which can last you over 3 years.
had an s9 back then🤗
Which iPhone should I use for my home phone replacement
iPhone 12 or iPhone SE 3😅 1:56
I used the iPhone 12 until it got confiscated because I was messing miners. Great phone though
I had both the s7 and s4. Both were fantastic phones, and I wasn't ready to upgrade from my s7 but my family changed carriers so it had to go. I've stuck as a Samsung fan boy for a long time, but when they started following in apples shoes and stopped innovating like Samsung, it's making apple look much better. What I mean by that is the loss of a headphone jack, no more SD card since the s20fe (which I have and enjoy) and not including a charger in the box anymore. Crazy how they changed in just 4 years
I’ve owned 4 Samsung phones before I got my iPhone 15, a s7, s10, note 20, and s22. The s10 has to be my favorite out of them all
Four months from now, my iPhone 6 will complete 10 years of service. Legendary ❤
Prices too are a BIG factor for sales lol we forget iphone was like 400 bucks then iphone 6 like 400 500 range. Bro, base modelnphones are like 700 800 now then plus and ultras like 1400$ . Jesus christ, how do we compare?
Motorola moto z was the First phone without headphone jack.
Your samsung galaxy s8 battery got swollen? i thought mrwhosetheboss is the only one😅
my favorite iphone designs will forever be the 5s, the 7 and the 11. (the iphone 11 was absolutely under rated IMO)
I’m sure there are reasons why, but would’ve liked to have seen some love for HTC or Sanyo.
I LOVED my HTC evo. The camera was awesome, it was fast, and had a kick stand!
I still have an iPhone 5s but now I am using an Android phone (Galaxy a54) and I love it
Where are the added vids of you doing behind the scenes??
can you start linking the music you use in the background? thank you
44:58 this was my first phone, and I unfortunately broke it by putting it in my swimsuit's pocket and forgetting to take it out when I got in the pool lmao. If only they did a tiiiny bit more with the water resistance that year
In 2022 i got an iPhone 5s from my great grandparent (my main was a 13mini) and even with ios12 it was still usable , you couldn’t have high expectations obviously but it did its work while using instagram , whatsapp , tiktok and a few google apps, anyway it just had 16gb of storage. A year later maybe around november 2023 I dropped it accidentally from a bunk bed and it finally stopped working😢.
For me the iPhone 5s was the greatest! Ran so smoothly for years and years. And also the perfect size for me.
I absolutely loved it!
That's why I'm on the 13 mini now that I also really enjoy.
as an ex S7 user i absolutely did not love that phone lol. overheated like no other phone ive ever had from the day i got it in 2016, lagged real bad, battery life was 2-3 hours SOT. it was a horrible phone
Seriously. I had the S7 edge and it was the only phone I had for less than the 2 year contract. I was over it after only a few months. And honestly turned me off of the galaxy line
@@kandikidzora yeah.. i wouldnt bother with them. i had the S22 ultra and it was unfortunately familiar problems. iphone or pixel is the way to go
Apple from the 3GS to the XS was unstoppable. Truely the golden era of smartphones
From this top I used Nokia 6600 and iPhone 6s. I still have the iPhone 6s and it's a very good smartphone.
I wish Note7 exist, it's the best looking 16:9 phone ever, unluckily it exploded...
I'm surprised that Huawei P30 series didn't menage to get on this list 😮
The Galaxy S4 sold 80* Million Units, not 70. The S4 is the most sold Android EVER!
I REPEAT! The Galaxy S4 sold 80 MILLION Units!
What was up with the sirens in the background though?
Hey i think the iPhone 11 is the best phone ever cam out from apple , its so reliable 😅
The iPhone 8 and 12 are just sooo good
16:9 - the perfect screen!
I hate Nokia 5230 as well it was a great phone. It was my fullscreen phone and I was pretty happy with it.
My iPhone models: iPhone 4s, iPhone 5c, iPhone 5s, iPhone 6, iPhone 6s, iPhone 8, iPhone XR, iPhone 11, iPhone 14, iPhone 15 Plus
and today most smartphones have returned to a somewhat similar form factor of the iphone 4. flat sides glass backs
Android and Samsung alone probably sells dozen times more phones across different models compare to Apple which have like dozen phones they officially sell each year.
Isn’t Samsung an android device ?
Why iphone 6 sold so much? Price?
Sooooo I apparently had the iPhone 6 and I don’t even remember having it I only remember my iPhone 6s
I will say Samsung users do keep their phones for a while. Idk if it was primarily because of Sprints horrible mistreatment of customers in the states (since majority of the older ports I did on older Samsung phones when working wireless were sprint customers). Yes they were abandoned by Samsung with updates, but kinda benefited the phones cause the phones could stay fast on software it could run.
I appreciate the video ... however , I find it strange that people keep claiming (not sure if it's a gen z thing or not) but Apple did not create the first smartphone.. Blackberry and windows mobile pocket pcs existed years before the iPhone /Android debate started. I just find it weird that history is being rewritten here
No LG. No Sony. No HTC... :(
Bro it's wild I thought about this video,a month ago
To be honest any phone with internet and other smart capabilities is considered as a smartphone, iPhone was the first proper touchscreen smartphone not the first smartphone in general, it was not even the first touchscreen smartphone because it was the Nokia 7710 from 2005.
Nokia 7710 wasn't the first touchscreen smartphone either. IBM Simon from 1994 had a touchscreen and so does the Ericsson R380 from 2000. Feature wise Sony Ericsson P800 from 2002 was quite similar to the Nokia 7700/7710. There was also many Windows Mobile based touchscreen smartphones like the O2 XDA which is what the popular XDA Developers website was named after.
For a while in the 2000s for a phone to be considered a smartphone they had to have multitasking and native 3rd party app support, in addition to the internet capabilities. The first iPhone didn't have either of those features at release, the App Store didn't launch until 2008 with the iPhone 3G and multitasking in 2010 on iOS 4.0 only on iPhone 4, 3GS and iPod Touch 3rd gen. The first iPhone was extremely limited in features for the time which is why many predicted it wouldn't be a success
Wait since when did the iPhone 7 sell that much??
I own 13 of the 25 on this list.
I think the Galaxy S9 was Samsung's best phone ever. It was absolutely wonderful. I want my old s9 back. I think the iPhone 6s was probably the best iphone for the time it came out.
What about the s6 active
I have a hard time believing that the iPhone 6 is still number one. I'm sure the iPhone 13 overtook it
Sold really well, not so well or exploded💥😂 what a scale.
How do I add my name to the Apple battery lawsuit
Still using my 8 Plus!
So basically a smartphone = a phone with native 3rd party app support. "Dumb" phones can browse the internet and install java apps (Sony Ericsson K750i for example).
I absolutely love this video so.eone who feels and sees the same thing I'm seeing for o e reason from declining sales there is lack of innovation plus there of peaked and releasing a phone evey year is nit nessasary
Nokia 6600 we nicknamed it as a soap somehow it looks like a bar of soap 😂. Probably the best after 3660 from then on cauze it’s an absolute beast in multimedia experiance and with all the bells and whistles. The N series was another level as it cater for the best can afford it cauze it’s hella expensive where I’m from.
iPhone 11 specially pro max was an era ended the android users trolling iPhone users on battery issues. I mean u can’t go anywhere without seeing someone bringing their charger along every time with them. 😂
*NOSTALGIAAAAA* !!!! 😭😭❤️❤️❤️
iPhone 6s Plus is the absolute best pound for pound iPhone ever made.
