Windows 11 Pro: Deactivate Windows Defender Real time protection

How to disable “Antimalware Service Executable” in Windows 11, when using the Windows Defender and no third party antivirus solution. We use the group policy editor to disable the real time protection in Windows.

For those of you when you restart your pc and it turns back on, go to where you turn on real time protection and scroll down a little and turn off Tamper Protection. Change the registry again and it will stay disabled.

This looks so simple but for some reason i dont have those types of options, it doesn't let me turn it off, and when i open the app it just gives me a black screen no matter how much i wait 😭

Very helpful video thanks, Is there a quick way to turn it back on? I use my computer offline as a DAW music workstation only, the performance of real time audio benefits greatly with defender turned off letting me work at lower buffers but i'd like to turn it back on when online checking my emails

Hi Chris, in you case I would try out to deactivate the Defender Real time protection via the settings. They will be deactivated for some time and automatically reactivate again.

You would have to uninstall Norton first.

Have you deactivated the tamper protection first? Otherwise this will happen.

This usually happens, when the tamper protection is still enabled. So make sure its really disabled.
