Did Allen skip this one just so he could feel how Nigel feels when people ask where he is?
who's Allen?
Never heard of em
🤷
They went full white this week.
@@Tetsuito maybe the race war has begun!
Actually thought they got the Doofenshmirtz voice actor on the podcast
I also thought he was Dan Povenmire. Also, he isn't just Doof's voice actor he also MADE THE SHOW together with Jeff "Swampy" Mars (who voices Najor Monogram)
"Behooold, my dumpster-fire-inator!"
Dan tibble !
SAME
Same x2
Geez I almost thought they got Adam Savage to duke it out with Allen
God I need to see that podcast now
Allen is actually not on this podcast because he’s recovering from the beat down Adam brought.
That's why he ain't there, he got destroyed and they won't post that
What an oddly high quality episode. I love the unhinged stuff but listening to Luke was fascinating.
This guy was fantastic! Obviously passionate and knowledgeable about what he does and also still able to be an engaging presence on the show
This dude's cool as hell.
More guests like this, less CZcamsrs talking about thumbnails please.
I’m gonna need double thumbnail chat next week to make up for this.
It's really cool that William used to work for Dan Povenmire!
Yes I'd like to order a Classic Beef 'N Cheddar, 1 Buffalo Chicken Slider, 1 Jalapeño Roast Beef Slider, a small Curly Fry and one of those large Jamocha Shakes please. Oh and is the Oven Mitt thing here, I'd like to see him.
Sir this is a saftey third podcast comment section
always so unhinged reading the comments before watching the podcast
@@ukalus9924 real
If anyone is curious, it's a 10-gallon hat, not an oven mitt
@@CyborgGrizzly Their logo is, Arby's had Oven Mitt as a character in their commercials for a while. Tom Arnold did the voice.
Dude that discussion at 01:26:20 about failsafes in dangerous remote controlled machine made me laugh (even harder) about all the people criticising you for buying "that battlebot"
Best episode yet! Personal connection and rapport, clear mutual respect, lots of interesting stuff to talk about, this was incredible.
You guys have 2 kinds of shows ... one that is unhinged as F and i laugh the whole time and this type ... incredibly good and interesting conversation that makes me feel smarter just for listening to it ... great show guys
As a computer engineering major who just completed a senior project where 3 of us made a robot drive itself around a room and identify objects, I can confirm software is certainly something. We spent the majority of our time just making other people's libraries and tools work. I feel William's software gripes in my soul.
Looking up this Bran guy, I'm 99.9999% sure he was read into a UFO program at some point. He looks like he knows secrets.
We called adhd pills “senzu beans” in engineering undergrad school
As a student pursuing Material Science it was awesome to hear and recognize the crystal structures
8:20 that has been studied! You can push people very hard for a few days, but then they crash for a long time.
For a second I thought that was Dan Povenmire
Please get Dan povenmire!
Is it just me that loves the intro lmao the face morph is cool
starship trooper
damn, pretty relevant recently because of helldivers 2
25:35 I love the conceit of referring to this monstrosity as a "hand puppet" lmfao
Finally, I am useful!
1:28:00 : "what do you call the danger zone around a spinning object?"
It's called the Kill-cumference.
Wish I could credit the person who coined the term, but it was over a decade ago, sorry.,
William coming in with the Vault-Tec level ideas.
I loved starship troopers, I watched the ending walking by the TV as a kid once, and then saw it start up, and I watched it all.
It was an amazing movie
1:20:58 sd card is dieing
So nice to finally meet Will and Kevin's dad.
This guy’s amazing! Just hearing him talk about different industries he’s been a part is so insightful
What's his name? Luke something
No William, missing it is not an insane take. I got my first job recently (well first one where I was officially employed lol), I wasted like 6 years of my life to studying because I flunked out of school.
The amount of stress lifted off of me, I just need to go there on work hours, do my shift, then relax. It's a pattern I've got used to and it's so nice. No over worrying about finances, no sitting there lonely through the day trying to finish some freelance stuff I'm getting underpaid for. Just me and the work, occasionally complaining to my colleagues about the day going slow because there's not much work that day. It sounds crazy I know. But I get it. :)
BTW, to make an already message longer. Complaining about no work ends up on people flunking other tasks off to you. But oh man, the things I've learned already is insane from it.
i worked with mark setrakian briefly on his new project 'body sculpture'. really chill guy, had a lot of really good advice on mixing mediums to create sick robots.
Please get Cody'sLab as a guest.
How can they afford to fly him back from mars?
There is beef
@@RyanJ_really? What is it about
@@leonardotheuseless4188 Cody wanted to start a podcast with Nigel and Kevin. He's posted about it on Reddit. I don't know if things have changed
Then they gotta stitch the beef back together. They better cook the beef congratulations
FYI: After Allan's slander of Jane Goodall, a few weeks ago, there is a relationship between the Getty Family, which owns the Getty Museum, and Getty Images. The name Getty is common enough, so that can not be assumed. But in this case, it is. This Getty family got its money in oil, many decades ago. One of the Getty "trust fund babies", much later, started Getty Images, and the Getty family owns about 1/3 of the company (Getty Images).
I have another Getty story, that happened about 10 years ago. Another of those Getty trust fund brats owned a beach front house in Malibu. He was getting the house renovated, but due to the geography of that section of Malibu, workers had to enter adjacent properties. Initially, the neighbors were fine with it, as they knew the situation, and hoped, their other neighbors do the same, when they decided to redecorate. But this Getty was such a jerk, he abused their hospitality, and they eventually revoked access. Getty eventually sold that house. Its new owner was much more diplomatic, that he had no problem, completely rebuilding a new house on that lot. If you want a more precise location in Malibu, that house is only a couple of properties away from the house of an elderly couple, that were rescued by their grandson, by boat, during the most recent fire, there. That story hit the news. The elderly couple are parents of a good friend of mine. The grandson, is his nephew.
I love how the podcast gets longer every time
The engineers got all that extra work done, but the company still only hired one QA role at 40 hrs a week to check all the extra work.
Nice to see Nigel in this episode. Loving the new hair.
Kevin laughing at failure modes and effects analysis is so on brand.
This guy is so much cooler than all the failed mythbusters.
William looks dehydrated
Is that why his lips are like that.
@@ahabibe no, its crack.
Really awesome episode! Would love more interviews and story telling like this.
honestly top 5 episode you guys have done
When they talked about 10000 year clock I was constantly making "what the fuck wow that is amazing" face
Another Very special episode!
I don’t think that Will has been paying attention to FRC lately, cause them robots WAY more impressive than a palm tree trimmer.
Honestly one of the best episodes ever!
Frog.
10:05 coke when pure is actually a slightly yellow slightly waxy powder
I felt so smart today when I wore my steel toe boots and then dropped a 200lbs slab of walnut on my foot. I was thinking about not wearing them but made myself do it and now I feel smart.
saw this 4 mins in. Intriguing topic 👀
some say polymath, some say computer scientist, most would agree dilettante of some sort...
A Gian tank, a giant cannon, my boy here trying to replicate WW2 German super projects
I'm a lil worried Will is about to run into a quarter life crisis... Does he have time for therapy, er counseling, er I dunno?
Oh Kevin.... There are "studios" like that.. haven't you seen the video's of huge buildings with decorated cubicles that has hundreds if not thousands of streamers in there promoting products? Mainly in what looked like asia, and yes it is very black mirror-esque
mortal engines was a reference to a book written like 1000 years ago
In the context of the clock, and even of sfx too. Human innovation, from farming, to mining, to social structure, has always been in this context of play. (Not some silly innovation for profit) Humans who see other people's dreams (literally, chasing your dream in the same sense as the Wyandotte and other indigenous people) and work together to make them real.
Nice just nice!
Damn bro made the Chest Burster in my favorite alien movie. Amazeballs
Ha! No response to the suggestion that that team would be frozen for future maintenance ;)
I’m not a content creator, but longing for a normal job is understandable. I long for structure, but hate commitments. It is the ADHD way, to want to think less about your responsibilities and tasks.
That whole argument that we can't have nice things because people are lazy or will take advantage of goodwill... To that I ask "so Adobe is the answer?!"
They allow us to bring our own machines and music in now
56:52 certified ringu moment
William, I have a clock that is at least 100 years old and it works. It’s not a car. They can make one that lasts longer.
Did anyone else hear the fart at 1:31:26
Everybody farts?
1:20:50 What if death IS the reward?
Did William eat a bunch of powdered donuts?
“Powdered” “donuts”

1:43:38 This would basically be something like the Linux Foundation, no? iirc there's a number of nonprofits that do that sort thing for FOSS, especially for Linux distros and whatnot
I would like you to get a Minecraft creator on the podcast. No real reason, i lkie the podcast and Minecraft so thats why i ask.
What's that one guy popping off who was a hacker working at blizzard? Piratesoftware?
I see him all over my feed nowadays
Remember those old infomercials on TV? Older, lonely people would form parasocial relationships with the hosts. They could be sold anything, and they wanted to talk on the phone about their purchase or to the sales person and they constantly bought things. I had family members that did this.
They didn't buy the fancy doll, they bought the interaction.
Tiktok is this with a different kind of entertainment. I imagine it's huge business. I've almost bought a chair 3 times.
There are very few 'Third Spaces' anymore for young people and loneliness just breeds more.
William “Pale Lips” Osman over here
Maybe Bran's trademark clothing was a photography parka?
Damn it William, you used order of magnitude wrong
the ford model a is almost 100 years old and a good amount are still on the road
If I found a mech eng job that cool I would never quit.
Shit! I can't believe you got dan povenmire
It's amazing the difference in audiences. Hasan Piker and asmond made a comment how they missed his retail job in someways and the comments/chat got nasty on them about it. Here not one comment but this one that I can see.
First it was nigel, now alan has joined nigel.
Nigel?
I have to head out in a minute, so Im only 10 minutes In. there was a joke amongst the software engineers, it seemed fairly established fact they coded better after a beer or 2, anything more than 4 went downhill rapidly. I think pool and pinball are in the same category. But when Microsoft was developing windows ME, they just gave everyone a case of whiskey, and told them to get on with it. which explains alot about ME.
One of the best episodes!! A great guest, fun and truly interesting content, and lively conversation that wasn't centered around Allen Pan! I don't remember a guest being able to carry on a conversation for so long without being talked over and interrupted every 15 seconds ~ well done, guys! And of course, I still miss Nigel, and would rather talk about frogs than Michael Reeves any day ~
Software projects are notorious for going way over budget.
That is Dan Povenmire
