  • Save hundreds of dollars by replacing the toothbrush head on your sonicare electric toothbrush. Lets face it, the Philips Sonicare is an amazing invention, but the replacement heads are just too pricey! Even the cheapo knockoffs are costly and sometimes don't even work. I show you how to put a standard toothbrush head on your existing Sonicare head for just a couple dollars.

If you shop around enough you can find good deals on the original toothbrush head replacements. I have a Series 3 and the replacement brush that I like is - Philips Sonicare ProResults Plaque Control replacement toothbrush heads, HX9023 - I got a pack of 3 for $12.50 total price w/ shipping = $4.17 each (you spent $3.99 along with tax I would assume) - Not a fake or off brand! And there are hacks that can extend the use of your brush head by another 2-3 months = 5-6 months on 1 brush head!!!

Interesting idea but I agree with wondering about the lack of answers to the question about whether you have simply managed to turn your sonic toothbrush into an electric toothbrush which buzzes a bit? Also, how long does this mod work before the head hakes itself off the stem, especially if there IS any real "sonic" effect after you have done this mod?

This DIY is solid - the repair is just replacing the original head so it acts exactly the same. by drilling a smaller hole in the new brush, then heating the metal post, it is essentially welding the new head on. Try it, you were gonna throw the old one out anyway.

You're right @@robdude1969, as the ordinary heads only last a few months tops because they are TOO SOFT, how much harm can it do trying to use a better, harder, more modern-design head?
There is also a massive problem with build up of liquid seeping into the base which stagnates a bit if not cleaned but even that problem might be addressed with your design being STORED UPSIDE DOWN!!

@@robdude1969 Actually if you are going to start heating up the shaft to get the new head on, soon you would notice that it would have become much easier to heat up the old head shaft with a hair dryer. At about the same time as the head starts to wilt with heat, the whole shaft just pops off! Snot necessary to do all that cutting.

DManzaluni Awesome!!! I will try that next time. You have to let me know how it worked for you? Same as original? Better?

How well does this work compared to the original? the plastic looks thick and the transfer of energy looks to be less. As the tip is only shaken vs the complete shaft of plastic from the original.
    This was very smart tho

the whole time I was cracking up laughing he placed his clean brush head on his dirty work station. I wonder how much bacteria he picked up?
the whole rigging was not worth the time and effort, just go purchase a new fully functional toothbrush head.

Ingenious hack, though as one viewer asked, is the "clinically proven" vibration level a bit dampened by the thicker brush handle? Loved the "Ferrari vs Toyota" quip at the end! For me, one of the best things here is putting less unrecycleable plastic crap into the environment - it's ridiculous how replacing the head on this model means ditching the entire plastic collar and connector mechanism. While I'm at it - one of the more annoying things about this model is the clunky plastic charging base with inflexible cord. Be great if it was just a small charging platform you jam into a dedicated wall socket to keep it topped up.
Anyway, well done - would love to see more of your hacks (though my beau looked at it and said, for Chrissakes I'll BUY you the replacements 😉)

1.70???? More like 16.50 each. This hack is for the sonicare replacement heads #161022, Enhanced. The cheaper heads are for a different Sonicate.
