    Happy and healthy 2024 my dear sir. I run a stock 30 hp Johnson (1992) on a 16 foot aluminum hull and it will give me the same speed readings you got with "Ze Beef". Top speed is indeed affected greatly by wind conditions as it does grab a lot of air once on plane. Wishing you a lot more of those fun boat outings. Stay merry (and warm) !

      Hey. Yes, keeping in mind this started out as a 25 horse power head. I'm guessing you're using the 13 pitch prop. I went with a 14, but the thirteen seems to be the standard. Not a lot of difference in speed between 25 to 30, 30 to 35. The "Horses" all run about the same speed, but Strap on an extra 5-10 horses and they will pull the 1000 lb "Beef Wagon" up the hill a lot easier than the 25 horses will. Hahaha! Beef it Up! Thanks again & Happy 24!

      @@THISOLDOUTBOARD1 You are right on the money, Sir. I used to run a vintage 25 hp Chrysler on the same boat and got about equivalent top speed (mind you those oldies were rated at the flywheel so it would equate to about 22 "modern" hp). The significant difference between those 2 engines' performance was in the time needed to get on plane during as during that phase, the capacity to move propulsion water is critical with no substitute to bigger prop sizes driven by more hp. Regards.

    I love my 1956 30hp Johnson but it doesn’t have a tiller handle so I need a steering wheel I have controls for it just need a steering wheel it’s so old school it’s got a 6 volt starter great videos 👍🏻🤘🏻

      Hey. Thanks for tuning in. Try ebay for the tiller handle or TheOutboardTinkerer62 here on youtube, he might have one for sale. He just commented too. Thanks again & Happy 24!

    Happy New Years! Hey got any 1993 15hp OMC or newer carb parts looking for choke rod,flap and rollpin???

    • @THISOLDOUTBOARD1
      @THISOLDOUTBOARD1  Před 6 měsíci +1

      Happy 24! I don't think they come with a manual choke, it's all electric primer or primer pump depending on remote or tiller models......... Ok I just watched your video, you cleaned up on the two motors deal! Nice! Anyway you said 2015 was the year in the vid but its a 93 according to the decal on the hood, but all the 93's I saw were gray. Anyway every 93 15hp is saying electric primer, but I see you pulling on a choke handle...? Ok I see the choke handle in the schematic for rope start models and the carb is showing a choke butterfly. I do see a roll pin in the schematic but thats it. You probably know all this by now, anyway looks like ebay is going to be your best bet!

      Yes Happy New Year again,HA!! I know these two popped up and I grabbed them they were suppose to be seized .I did check the M/N and it says 2000 model year rope start long shaft which it is. Just sold a 1990 9.9 L/S electric start only had the primer and no pull starter. Yeah its funny something doesnt jive here. Ill figure it out and come up with the choke parts or another carb.I do have primers just dont like them,LOL.Trying to locate the proper gearcase too I have many pre 1993S and even a white one,LOL but I like to stick to the original parts if at all possible.You know it has the plastic screens and two opposite side mounted square anodes .Yeah the choke handle rod was hanging there when I got it. Maybe the original carb was replaced and this one had the older primer on it .Motors came from a local Marina so its very,very possible dont know. Thanks for commenting, Oh the 30 Hp runs real good ran it yesterday with water. I did compression check and it needs a waterpump video coming on that soon Stay Tuned... Im still waiting for you to get and old late clamshell cover 1950S OMC18HP LOL! on your channel later Glenn.@@THISOLDOUTBOARD1

      Oh I said it was a 2000 15 hp in my video not 2015. As you probably know Johnson has been out since 2006. I misunderstood what you meant,LOL! Supposedly the only years with the Big wings around the Johnson name is 2000 from my research could be wrong.The gray painted ones your saying with the wings is 2003 ???????@@THISOLDOUTBOARD1

    Hey TOO, how can I get in touch with you? Do you have an email that I can reach you? Also quick question, 1978 Evinrude 85 hp. Can I install small low speed jets? It has the factory 25 size low speed jets in the carbs now. I'm curious if I can go to a 20 or 22 because it seems to run slightly rich at idle.

    • @THISOLDOUTBOARD1
      @THISOLDOUTBOARD1  Před 6 měsíci +1

      Hey. Will you leave that thing alone! Hahahaa! No I never set up an email, too many scams going on. I've had people try to send me their email and they said youtube would block it. I just do business here in the comments, which is enough for me. Anyway here's the part # for a 22 orifice, ORIFICE, Idle fuel, #22
      0331934. Maybe the reed valves are stretched out a little, I think you can get custom reed valves for it, can't remember the guys name. Or take them out and flip them, they say don't do that but I have a few times, no big deal. Happy 24!

      @@THISOLDOUTBOARD1I can't help myself🤣🤣🤣 once I work on something i get obsessed with it running perfect. It wears me out but it sure is nice once everything is singing on time like a new oiled sewing machine! I've already put new Chris Carson composite reeds in it 🤣. I put new NGK plugs in it and it's helped a tiny bit with that slight miss up to about 2,000rpm. It's driving me absolutely crazy. So can I get low speed jets from like 24 on down in increments of 1? Are all low speed jets interchangeable back then? Where and how do I start looking for other size jets if I need them? Happy 24 to you!!

    • @THISOLDOUTBOARD1
      @THISOLDOUTBOARD1  Před 6 měsíci +1

      @@TheRIFLEMAN243 Yeah I know what you mean. I thought that was you that put the new reeds in. I think the jets only come in increments of 2 but you can drill them. You might even have the OMC orifice drill size chart in your manual if not you can find it online. Some people say not to drill them other people say they've been drilling them for years with no problems that's why there's a drill chart. Check ebay for the jets/orifices, marineengine.com and boats.net, maybe get a bunch of small ones and drill them out a little at a time and see what happens. You can always put the original ones back in.
