If "Town " was affected like the rural part of the island . Electricity would be restored quickly .. They favor certain areas

Reality is not like the internet. You can't just click a button and make it so. Recovering from this will take time. However, I do wonder why Jamaica relies so heavily on exposed powerlines. Is there an opportunity to bury more of our powerlines, especially in towns and residential areas, so that the electrical infrastructure is not so vulnerable to wind damage?

Exactly. Agree with you a 100%. Second thing is why has it taken them so long to start a transition to concrete post like in the states? Jamaicans pay so much for electricity and this is the level of service. Over a month for service and watch how these folks still get huge bills come next month. Smh

They have started to use submerge cabling in the eastern part of the island, obviously this type of cabling is very very expensive since its special armo cabling plus the roud have to be dugged you to lay it

@@dantronics1682 I got it. Thanks for that info. It's great to hear that. A silver lining to the destruction in the southern parishes from this hurricane would be to be able to bring this upgraded infrastructure there (plus upgrading the housing stock, roads, etc.). However, as you pointed out, can we find the funds to do it? It's an investment in resilience.
