- Manila Philippines First Impressions - I'm positively overwhelmed!
Video of my arrival in Manila ➡️ • Rough Arrival In Manil...
I have just arrived in Manila, Philippines. What I usually do to get some first impressions of a new place is to hit a big market, a busy area. I heard about the Divisoria Market Manila, which seems to be a vey busy and big local market. The perfect location to mingle with some locals, try some Filipino street food and get some Philippines first impressions. Let's check out Divisoria market Manila! I'm going to stay in the Philippines for at least two months, feel free to join the journey.

I am Ken Abroad, a full-time traveler traveling southeast Asia. It is my goal here on the channel to visit every country in southeast Asia and bring you along the journey.
You won’t see many tourist places in my videos, I rather like to show the “real” sides of each country in my videos. Where do the local people go to eat? Where do they hang out? How do the locals travel through the country? Stuff like that.

Hello Ken, definitely you have to try CHICKEN ADOBO !!! One of my favourite dishes and well known all over the Phils. Good travels !
ang pangalan ko ay ken - Mein Name ist Ken
Filipinos really love to laugh. I'm sometimes afraid that foreigners might think we're laughing at them. But we're just happy and energetic people. 😂
My fellow Filipinos are friendly, that's one thing that our country can be proud of. Christmas season here starts September 1. If you are go to Malls it's already decorated with Christmas decorations.
How long is the Christmas season?
@@absfinal usually after Three Kings, sometime after the first week of January. Philippines has the longest Christmas season
I cant get over the fact that poor filipinos cook rotten garbage. Pls help these people, i dont believe that fellow filipinos do not care about it.
September is the start of countdown to Christmas because it's already a "Ber" month, September to December are "ber" months as we call them here in the Philippines, as you notice if you go to the malls you could see Christmas decorations, because Christmas & New Year are the most important occasion for every Filipino, we really prepare for it and every family are bonding together during that time of the year.😊😄
If you fall down first they laugh before they hlep thats way i love filipino
Finally you're in my country 🇵🇭. I'm a fan and subscriber since you're Thailand travels. Just be careful with your things in markets like that in Divisoria, every country I guess has a form of thieves, but generally Philippines is safe and pride of being friendly, warm and hospitable. Filipinos compared to other nations are fluent speakers and generally understand English, since Americans colonized our country. Pilipinas by the way is local name of the Philippines. Can't wait your travels in provinces, beaches here are the best.
Thank you very much 😊
Yes same goes to Malaysia Singapore & Brunei.
Welcome to hell , real HELL
Hey Ken, welcome to the Philippines 🇵🇭
Just a word of caution in places like Divisoria. You got to keep your money and possessions in front, cause pickpockets might snatch then if not careful. Take care and stay safe.
Why do you have the photo of Hansel?
i like Philippines very much. been there 2 times ...very friendly people. I would like to go again! very different than other South-east asian countries, more like latin influenced
Thank you🇵🇭💖
Coz we are influenced by Spanish that'swhy we're same with latin countries. Predominantly Catholic countries as well.
Colonized by Spain for 300+ years.
Be very careful when asking for water. You are not used to the tap water that we have in the Philippines and you might get sick. Always buy bottled water.
Cebu is where you can find a good and authentic lechon. If you plan of visiting Cebu, go to House of Lechon.
love the way you communicate to them nice chatting to the local bro.. glad you find good times with them..looking forward for your next adventure.. thanks👍👍
What an interesting walk about at this Divisoria Market Manila. It's a massive one indeed with all kinds of stuff and food sold there. Wonderful to see the friendly vendors and locals there...very good interaction you have there, Ken. Yummy siomai...look quite similar to "siew mai". Great to get a t-shirt from each country you travel too and hope your hunt for a Philippines basketball jersey will be an easy one...😀
Another fun and entertaining video, enjoyed watching. Thanks, Ken. Stay safe and take very good care.
Philippines are very welcoming people. I visited sometime ago, but didn't have the opportunity to explore this amazing places.
Christmas starts very early in the Philippines, even in September they start with decorations :)
Hello there.
Am watching it
All the way South African.
Thanks for sharing with us 📺🇿🇦🇿🇦🇿🇦🇿🇦🇿🇦
Really enjoying seeing you in a new country. Looking forward to the Philippines series!
Excited to be here 😊
U got to be verycareful Ken , cos Manila which is a country , where there r a lot robbers, and the girls many of them will tske u for a ride ,cos i know this before my friend who is a Australian encounter this before ! Is for ur own good !
Yup, he's right. Cases like that is serious. Don't fall for women who urges you for money or buying expensive things.
Yeah right and so with other countries. Let us all be safe and aware of personal stuff when going out!!!
It's happened everywhere tho.🙄
Excuse me!! 🙄 I beg to disagree with you. A lot of robbers? Filipinos are hardworking friendly and not opportunistic while there are robbers every country has robbers even the rich countries. It happens yet but is not a lot. You can't even get your geography correct. Manila is a city not a country. Obviously you're an uneducated troll so I will not waste any time on you any longer bye and get a life beech.
Hahahah..not only in Philippines but to other countries as well....
Welcome to the PH! Some filipinos need warmup when taking/listening English. Speak very slowly first (preferably choppy American accent or Hollywood English if possible) one word at a time. Then you can go full sentences when they warm up with you.
Another point, avoid water and ice from street vendors and small restaurants. Always bring your bottled water.
When you go to the islands, rent a scooter, it’s the best way to explore!
You may try the following food:
- Kwek-kwek (quail eggs)
- Balut
- Isaw (chicken intestine)
- Betamax/dugo (chicken blood)
- Adobo
- Sinigang
- Silog meals for breakfast
- Lechon (best to try it in Cebu City)
- Sisig
- Jollibee
- Halo-halo (you may try it in Mang Inasal or Chowking)
Hi Ken just found your vlog..very nice with subtitle....welcome to the Philippines....you're so friendly with the locals, too... it's a delight watching you...enjoy your vacation here...stay safe.
I've been your subscriber Ken when you are in Malaysia❤️🇵🇭 take care there in philippines keep safe and God bless you..

Love the video! Looking forward to following your journey in the Philippines! Before I go, I must learn some Tagalog.
They were just amazed when meeting Foreigners. That’s how friendly Filipinos are.
Welcome to the Phils.. Ken.. my advice is always put your backpack infront. Just be aware... Be careful ... I'm from the Phils but live in Malaysia... Enjoy your stay in the Phils....
Ive seen a few vlogs now but where you went is the first. I love the people, so friendly. And the food looks so good
Welcome to Philippines Ken. I always watching your vlog
Thank you 😊
We have so much Chinese influence in the Philippines not just American or Spanish but also Chinese. Chinese is also a big part of our culture and Siomai is actually a Chinese food which we have our own version of it.
hello Ken I remember have been watching your vlog before when you were at Malaysia and you happened to hired a Filipino Boatman to bring you in Sabah to tour with you. Now, it is good you are in the Philippines and we are happy to welcome you. Your looking for a Filipino Jersey Top, think you are referring to a Filipino Basketball Team jersey which is "Gilas Pilipinas". Anyway, hope you can find it and enjoy your stay with our country. I miss so much the Philippines and love to take my vacation as well soon.
Welcome to the Philippines. I just watched your vlog in Germany where you drove your mom to a doctor, I think, and then proceeded to pick-up the Asian foods that you ordered from Asian restaurants. And then while eating, you described the different foods comparing them to the original country they came from. Honestly, I admire German people for their intelligence and orderliness. I once read that German people have superior brain, having so many great scientists, physicists, the most famous among them of course is Albert Einstein. Our own national hero, Dr. Jose Rizal was an intellect himself. I don't know if you have read about him. Actually he has a statue in Wilhemsfeld, Germany, and also a street was named after him there. He stayed there in 1886 for several months when he practiced medicine in an eye clinic in a Heidelberg university I think.
I'll look him up😊
We have Blumentritt St in Manila who is a German friend of Jose Rizal
Nothing like exploring the local market to get the feel of the vibes of a place.....Least the local are friendly... Stay safe and take good care mate....Happy exploring....Looking forward to the new adventures....
if you want an authentic local food trip, take a taxi to Ugbo tondo food street, where it's mostly food vendors. As per jersey, go to an actual shopping indoor mall. it's hard to find local team jerseys in the local market, locals prefer imported teams sadly.
Hi Ken..welcome to the Philippines 🇵🇭 now that you're in Manila, I would suggest the following places for you to explore and visit...Ayala mall in Roxas boulevard , Mall of Asia, China Town, Intramuros, Makati, Newport Manila, BGC, Mega mall in Ortigas, Greenhills in San Juan, Eastwood in Quezon City and many others..you can also go to Tagaytay, Alabang and Antipolo..they're just close to Manila..keep this as your guide..
Thanks! 😊
Happy to see you in the Philippines Ken. Same with your content in Sri Lanka I love it!
Welcome to the Philippines! hope you'll have a great time here and I'm sure a lot of Filipinos will get fond of your looks! Gwapo!
Thank you 😊
People look so friendly. Pace yourself with the food. It looks good but heavy. Enjoy your time in Manila.
Philippines comes from the name Philip, after King Philip II of Spain. The original name in Spanish is Filipinas, from Felipe. In Filipino, Pilipinas. The full name was Las Islas Filipinas (The Philippine Islands).
Technically there’s no ‘F’ in the alphabet, but it exists colloquially because of Spanish and English.
In this video, they are fun of you..😊 banana cue is my favourite among the dessert food… You really met the hospitality of the Filipinos… enjoy and always take good care!!
Christmas preparation here in the Philippines starts in September. You will feel the rush when December comes near.
If you want a PH basketball national team jersey (Gilas Pilipinas), look for the PILIPINAS jersey.
the Philippines has the longest christmas season in the world, starts at Sept. 1 all the way to January, that's why you would see a lot of christmas decorations around this time

Filipinos are always like that laughing when they something new. They are just happy to see a foreigner in the local market. Welcome to the Philippines!
Omg that pares is our restaurant thank u so muchhhh♥️♥️♥️
Ken, if you want to talk to some Europeans who are very familiar with Philippine life, already, and are now living in Makati, try contacting vloggers Mike and Nelly of "Making It Happen." They are originally from Austria. Siomai is Chinese food adapted to the Philippines from the Chinese who arrived in the Philippines many centuries ago. "Ako ay si ______." ("I am _____.") In the Filipino language, "Philippines" is "Pilipinas." (In Spanish it's "Filipinas.")
Welcome to the Philippines!

Bananacue- BBQ banana

Ken, the lechon you tasted in Divisoria is not the real lechon which is famous in the Phil. You can have the authentic lechon in La Loma area, and there are also restaurants selling it.
Official GILAS PILIPINAS (Philippines official basketball team) are available at Robinsons Mall. Robinsons Mall Manila.
Another interesting video once again. Loved it as always too. Thanks Ken.👍👍👍❤️❤️❤️
